It uses BFGMiner but as soon as I find that someone has a decent grasp of how to fix the libusb problems for cgminer on Raspbian, I'll be switching it over (for my use, at least...

I fixed the libusb problems by dist-upgrading Raspbian from wheezy to jessie. Runing great.
Current README in the real cgminer also explains how to fix it.

Have been watching this thread for a while, and it's been really helpful!

For rPi, I saw a post (that I can't seem to find.. I think on Reddit?!?!), that mentioned an alternative to MinePeon, called PIckaxe.  I've used it for a few days now, and it's been extremely stable!
https://github.com/stronginthearm/PIckaxe

If you prefer Raspbian to Arch, this might be an option.  I've decided to play with it, gave it a few additions as well:
https://github.com/sephtin/PIckaxe

I'm really hoping to be able to get in touch with the author, but have no idea how to contact them!  If you know stronginthearm, please PM me!!

Thanks!
Will add to OP Sunday...

And a related FYI:
I recompiled current git cgminer on windows using that libusb 16rc10 I have mentioned in the cgminer thread, but on windows this time, and have had 3 AMU's in a USB3 hub on WinXP running fine for the last ... 22.5 hours

Here's mine up:

3 Dlink hubs - 5 erupters in each, 1 of them is daisy chained to another (raspberry pi only has 2 USB).

Running BFGMiner in Raspbian, with the Ardafruit LCD display, working perfectly.

"snipped"

Yep - well I'm going to be velcroing the hubs together, so i can transport it all if need be - so maybe I just add a layer of something inbetween to seperate them out a bit!

At the moment all of the erupters are only warm to the touch, so infinitely better than no fan at all! I'll monitor it through the day

snipped"

With the hubs touching the heat transferred to the hub itself builds up and does increase overall temp if just a smidge...

Smart use of Fan!

Yeah, someone said the cooling wouldn't be enough, but the only thing that would be done better is a gap between the erupters - but tbh this way the air is channeled out anyway so i think its fine personally!

IF cooling is an issue you could easily update fan AND add heat sinks.
Your idea probably saves cost and electric usage of 1.1 fans per 18-21 units.
I'm also thinking a slight gap between the HUBS may be beneficial...

So im still using cgminer version 3.1.1 (because it works) on my raspberry pi with a 7 port usb 2.0 hub. Only four erupters.

For this kind of setup, have any of the new cgminer versions helped out with the erupters going SICK?
I got 2 more today (I now have 3 AMUs) to ensure my previous testing was working ... hotplugged them into my USB3.0 hub plugged into my RPi ... 3 mining no problem.

The main problem is libusb that a lot of distros seem to have a bad version of.

The actual version of libusb on RPi Arch works - which is what I'm using when I hotplugged in the 2 new ones I got today.

Minepeon for RPi uses Arch ... also here's a simple howto I wrote to setup Arch for cgminer: http://www.kano-kun.net/?p=87

Use current git.

Temporary hack version of how to compile and link cgminer to 'the' good version of libusb on linux:

I'd get a Rasberry Pi but I'd feel it's not worth the investment as I can't figure out a use for it outside of a mining host, I only want a host to use at night when I'm not on my PC.

 Shocked

I'm still waiting for someone to publish a Android App that uses CGminer/BFGminer for ASICs, till then I'll just have to fiddle about with ARM Linux and see if I can get that going. I already got BFGminer compiled/installed. Just waiting for my OTG cable to show up.

nice fan.  I got some on sale a while back.

I am running 27 sticks with 3 anker hubs and 3 fans.

I have a 9gh miner pulling 127watts  my gpu farm was 10gh and pulled 3400 watts!!

Are you using bitminter program

Thankyou.

damn. Shipping: Currently, item can be shipped only within the U.S.  ;-)

Those are difficult to get in Europe, I recently bought an Enermax USB Fan (which is not produced anymore...  Embarrassed ) on amazon.co.uk for about 22 Pounds..
Actually its much cheaper to DIY with an old 120mm PC fan + USB cable

Just an update about libusb in case anyone was wondering ...
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.2817682

Basically I'm just verifying (trying to get others to check also) that it is indeed the version of libusb that's the problem.
Upgrading libusb may resolve it ... but once I have verified if it is the cause I'll go with including the latest libusb in the cgminer directory to ensure people are using a working version

However, using Arch instead of Raspbian should solve the problem anyway since the latest Arch has a working libusb that passes my test code:
