I've written a brief article that describes how to get up and mining with the USB Erupter under OS X using either bfgminer or cgminer. Hope it helps!

Incredible Work!

Much thanks OP updated...

I just looked at pics from the OP. I guess I just answered my own question.

Is there any reason to believe that the corresponding power supply for the d-link DUB-H7 isn't adequate to supply full power for 7 connected erupters? All ports are powered, of course, but can the power supply support that much simultaneous electrical draw?

Are all 7 of the Dlink ports in Alexrossi's diagram powered?

Think for yourself
A Star topology offers a more direct route so that would be my first choice pending testing.

I'm using 7 port Rosewill hubs which have 5 Powered ports and 2 unpowered which, I believe, have their own separate controller for the purpose of daisy chaining, or so I thought.

Are all 7 of the Dlink ports in Alexrossi's diagram powered?

A Star topology offers a more direct route so that would be my first choice pending testing.  Why not spend a little extra for two Pi units for less chance on a single failure causing problems?  (both the primary usb hub and the pi)

Well your diagram poses a new question with me.

Is it better to configure the USB Hubs in a Star Topology as you are doing or to Daisy Chain them in a type of Bus Topology?

I am connecting mine in a Bus Topology and never really put much thought into doing a Star.

49 Erupters … theoretically, yes should work as the bus should max out @ 127 devices.
Need an example of someone using that many devices on a single RPi before we know for sure.

Hum.....only namecoins other than bitcoins?  Undecided

The Block Erupters can only mine cryptocurrencies that use the SHA256 hashing algorithm.

Well of course it won't work.

ASIC stands for Application-Specific Integrated Circuit -- it's hard wired to do only one thing: mine bitcoins.

It can't do other cryptocurrencies (except namecoins which use the same result at Bitminter).

it's a pool of a new cryptocurrency.
The USB isn't working with this kind of pool?

Hi Guys,
i've some problems with my new Usb Erupter.
I've never get an ACCEPT. I Always get FOUN BLOCK FOR POOL or REJECTED
And the Mining pools indicates that my hasrate is always 0.

I run on Windows 7 with guiminer.
My connection string is :

cgminer-nogpu -u Sampey.1 -p XXXXX -o http://www.bottlecapspool.com:12353 --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S COM5

Think for yourself
can two hubs function with the Rasberry pi, since it has two usb ports.
for instance 2 x 10port usb 2.0 hubs or is there a limit to how many usb block erupters one pi can handle?

You should be able to daisy chain one hub off of another too.

RPi sandwiched between a USB hub and LCD shield. It's doing a lot better than my Pi which can get about 0.47khash on litecoin...

FYI - just started a thread for that project here:
