Installation

No problems with the installation of the application. I am not using a mid or high-end desktop but it is still smooth when I start to run the application.

Impression

I logged in using my seed phrase from my Android account and the warm welcome from Utopia was displayed. Other features are showing on this welcome tab and settings which you can set immediately after logging in.



Chat lobby

The chat lobby is somehow active, there are more than 100 users online. Other users are accommodating questions and any chats from new users. Users are also friendly, I'm seeing other people adding each other.


Idyll browser / Web Proxy

I am not well-informed about the location of the proxy server, but the speed of my internet connection seems to be affected when I use it. I can only access bitcointalk with more than 2 minutes to fully load, any other platforms I tried to search were unable to proceed.

Wallet

I checked if I could shop using the 5 CRP sent to my wallet but it is not enough to try making a purchase. I decided to go for the swap, it takes a lot of time to finish. It's been 30 mins now but the swap is still loading.

Games

There are currently two games, chess and poker, there are no other active players so I wasn't able to try it for now.
Maybe it is best to add other games that you can play solo like blackjack. It would be best to enjoy using the application while playing.


Summary

Utopia application includes many features and has a lot of tutorials for new users. They also provide Chat support and basic information on how to use the application. There are more things to improve, but since Utopia is still new and currently has enough features to satisfy a lot of users, I know this application will go beyond every user's expectation.

App Installation
-Downloaded the desktop version at https://u.is/en/download.html
-Surprising to see that it is not only available to Windows but also in different platforms
-The download option is very easy and if ever you encounter any issues, some links will redirect you to the support portal or the possible options to fix the issue.
-Different Languages is also available

App Navigation
-It's user-friendly, easy to use, and easy to locate the tabs that you are looking for.
-The app also has the Global search option which you can use to locate what you are looking for. It also has filters to shorten your wide search. (3 easy steps on how to use the search option were also indicated in the app)


Web Proxy
-Under the Tools, Web Proxy service can be found.
-Disclaimer and ToS can also be found once you open the Web Proxy.
-I tried using the Web Proxy, however, It's either I have an error showing server not found and sometimes it takes a lot of time to load. I will try to use it again to check if the same error will still occur.


Settings
-I like the settings, it also provides hotkeys which you can personally edit where you are comfortable using.
-Hopefully, the team can also add an option to adjust the resolution or manually adjust the size of the application to fit small screen monitors.


Wallet
The first thing that I laid my eye on is the Crypto Cards
-I created my new crypto card, and it will only take less than 5 seconds to make.
-I did my research and to my surprise, 1856 merchants accepted the crypto card of Utopia
-The merchant can be found by clicking the "Shop with Cryptons"

downloading the software
Well I would say unlike most software app where the download and installation is somehow complex for beginners, the utopia website seems to eye catching and pretty well detailed for anyone to actually download and start the installation of the utopia file in your system and also I must recommend the utopia team for the catching dark colour used on the website interface.

Running the app
After downloading and installation, I opened up the app and created an account which was pretty easy as all I needed to do was to fill my username and password. In a matter of seconds my utopia public key was created and here are some the cool features of the app I found interesting.

1. Theme homepage
Utopia made it easy and convenient for users to actually select the theme for the background of the app and that alone is a plus one for me cause most users prefer the dark theme other than light screen.

2. Utopia crypton
The 5 crypton that was credited to my wallet was well observed as I used it for test running the service and it was indeed a fast and reliable network with ofcourse the privacy that every crypto enthusiast long for and also the worth of this 5 crypton is actually quite and I believe if held like other token, it may have the possibility to grow more in the future.

3. Uwallet(swap)
The swap option in the utopia wallet  is a very reliable one as I used it to swap my 5 crypton to utopia USD and the rate I got shows potential that the utopia crypton is indeed worth holding and the network fee for the swap is also very low.

Uchannel
The utopia channel is also a nice feature in the utopia software as you can use it to meet different people and also find solutions to some of things you don't know. There are so many interesting channels included like the tech channel, mining channel and even sport channel and these places you can interact and find out things that you don't know which is very good features for those users.

Games
Utopia teams went overboard by inclusion of the game section because this is will alot of people busy on the software too, although for now it's limited to chess and poker but it's a good feature and I hope the team might upgrade to others that can give the utopia software a busy nature too, I mean while handling your crypto business you can as well dig it out with a game of chess.😊

conclusion
The utopia software is one I would recommend for everyone to download also there are some cool other feature like the Umining, Umap, Umail that I didn't have time to write on which are also very useful. Go try the utopia software and you will be glad you use it.

I am interested in the review

Sorry for the delay. My review is focusing on the functionalities of the App. However, the interfaces are unique and user friendly i only want to highlight on the little things that are not giving many concentrations or are ignored. The features are mind blowing but there are little functions that are not working properly to complete an action. They are below.



Utopia app could be better with games against random people, not just contacts. This would be fun, make new friends, and build community. But, let users opt out and add reporting/blocking for bad behavior. Users can choose who to play with, matching based on interests or skill, ratings, and chat before, during, and after games. This would greatly improve Utopia.



Loving the tap-to-tag feature! It's a game-changer in user experience. Gone are the days of manually typing out usernames, especially for those tongue-twister handles. Simply tapping an avatar feels intuitive and saves precious time. It's a seamless way to connect and engage with others, making the whole process feel more natural and immediate.



Utopia's sleek interface and innovative features have me hooked, but there's one glaring omission for Windows users: mining. While the app touts itself as a decentralized paradise, the juicy rewards of crypto mining are locked away behind a Linux-only gate. This leaves Windows users like me feeling like we're missing out on a key piece of the Utopia ecosystem.



Cryptocurrency exchanges typically show rates for all pairs, regardless of whether you hold the assets. This is because the exchange facilitates buying and selling, so it needs to display rates for both sides of the transaction. Therefore, it’s plausible that the Utopia app might show you the exchange rate even if you don’t have the crypto in your wallet.

The Utopia App (desktop and Android) is quite easy to use and navigate, but a bit complicated for newbies to scale through as the features are so complex. The download process was a bit slow due to the fact that the file size was a bit big (over 500 MB), while the Android app size was 160MB or more.




My overall observations for both apps when it comes to data usage are that both apps consume a lot of data. I will have to say this because not everyone will say it. When it comes to data consumption, users are always conscious of their data consumption and would do away with apps that consume a lot of data in that manner.

I also noticed that there is no forget password option for both the desktop and Android, which would have made it much easier for an account holder to easily recover their account, irrespective of the fact that they have access to their private keys. I will suggest the utopia wallet and dashboard portal should have their ways  in. As it is that the wallet has a private key to access, so should it be that the dashboard ecosystem should also have a forget password option through email that can easily access their account if they forget their password or private key because one can create another wallet to add or import to their dashboard wallet account option.


I had to give it a try with the send and receive option via the desktop wallet and Android version. I checked the Uwallet, and the CRP and UUSD options popped up, showing wallet addresses. While looking for the receive option, I could see the send and get crypton option Upon clicking get crypton, I was redirected to the exchange website for the purchase of crypton coin, but I would suggest that it be in two ways: either one wants to receive CRP coin from another user or one wants to purchase from the exchange site. Either way could be okay rather than directly one straight click to the website for purchase.



I had to click on my profile using the Ucode to transact. I first received the CRP via my android app. To be able to use the desktop wallet, I had to transfer to my desktop account using my Ucode as shown above.

The transaction fee is minimal compared to other chain transaction fees.Using the swap features on the desktop, the first swap I initiated failed (1 CRP), the second failed (2 CRP), third failed (2 CRP) and the last scaled through (2CRP).

I also tried the Android swap features. At first, I had to swap 1 CRP which failed, and on the second attempt, I topped it, making it a total of 1.5 CRP which scaled through.

The chat or messaging features are okay to go with. The chat features have emojis and memes available to use, but I was curious to check for other local channels, which I found interesting. It is good that members are allowed to create their own channels, and the local channels created would also allow for easy communication amongst people of the same local jurisdiction. Clicking on their chat should be able to take you to their profile to view or chat with them, but that feature is not activated on the chat system.



I used the Umap features and searched for countries and states but non popped up and i became curious as to why the location I am a searching for were not showing. Is it that the search option is only for Utopia registered channels or wha? An admin or team member should respond to this.




The Umail feature is quite interesting for communication as well, but it seems there is no send button to click after composing your mail and inserting the receiver's mail address. I will have to ask if Umail is only meant for the utopia ecosystem. The team can also build it so that one can send mail to Yahoo and Gmail accounts.





I also tested the Ugame features. The poker game was the first to try. Created the seats and paid for the pokers game  but unfortunately, the confirmation process delayed a whole lot of my time  which is not encouraging and could not join the game and i was debited.

The idyll browser and web proxy seems not to be responding(opening) as i tried several times attempting to open it on my PC.


In conclusion, the Utopia app is very much complicated to start with for newbies as they would see it to be too complex for them to engage. I will suggest the developers look into it once more to making it feasible for all to be able to navigate through the ecosystem.

  Utopia Review
I was given the choice to install the software on Windows or Linux before it even started to download. Since my PC runs Windows 64-bit, I chose to install it on Windows, which made the installation process simple. After I chose where to store the files, the program began to extract them. Following the installation process, I chose to create a new account. And then a guide appeared, offering instructions on how to get around in utopia.
 

There are also more alternatives for usage guidelines on how to use them effectively after the welcome message, and there are many features available once you select the utopia features. These options start from

And among all the started feature ones I find interesting is the is the channel and the uwallet the u channel the interaction is amazing just that some was not in English, and the uwallet 5crp was deposited and its either CRP or UUSD you can either swap to any of the two and I quickly swapped my CRP to UUSD and withing a very short time I already have my 1.6 UUSD.



I found that there are still a lot of features in the Utopia app that can be used maliciously, but the fact that the app developers added a proxy tool which is a great way to browse without having to reveal your IP address—and considered privacy made utopia safe to use.

Utopia review

The installation process was not difficult. Installation wizard made whole process as easy as possible, just read about Utopia program features and click next. However, when I first ran the so-called desktop of the program, I was a bit confused.


First, it does not look up-to-date. Maybe I am just spoiled, maybe due to me knowing how first internet chats (mIRC/ICQ) and email clients, and data transfer programs looked like, I have felt nostalgia and feeling that I am not in 2023. Second thing I have done was a search to find how to change programs design, or change light/dark theme. (found in View>Switch theme)


I do not understand purpose of that bar. Maybe for some small group of people it will be useful, but majority, that are here just for encrypted wallet and messenger, wont find this really useful. Haven not found where this could be turned off.


While searching, I have found that I have wallet icon (blue diamond), that open a wallet (can be closed by clicking X), Chats and Channels. Frankly speaking, I wanted to close chat and Channel tabs, but turns out that I can only close wallet tab. Why program does not support that feature? As I understand, Utopia is more than chat an encrypted chat, it is also a web browser and email client. So why do not I have these tabs, or cannot close chat and channels (because I do not need them right now).

Ok, if chat is what you show me first, I am going to test it first. It was not hard to find someone to talk, especially if you ask for a help or assistance. With chat I have killed two birds with one stone, tested chat and Utopia wallet. Regarding chat - I like that I get not only a visual notification of incoming message, but also a sound (which happened to be near and not annoying). Regarding transactions - instant. I have sent a transaction and while asking a guy to confirm when he receives it, he had already received it and sent back. Another good feature of Utopia wallet - you can add comments to transaction. That is what most other wallets and blockchains lack. If you send and receive a lot of transaction, a comment will help to search specific one.


While playing with program, faced error - cannot find I guy I talked to. Chat history was empty. Also I do not understand why posts doubles? Maybe with time I would figure out how to turn that off, but so far, UI is a bit bulky.

Did not understand what crypto cards are for. If I can send and receive CRP by knowing public key, then crypto card copies its functional. What crypto cards are for, when you get a public key/wallet after you install Utopia program. Utopia help says crypto cards is an alternative to make a transaction. "To make payments without revealing your Public Key" - but no one could identify me by public key either. Programs UI in help looks slightly different. I think it is an old version of Utopia.

Idyll seems to be a web browser by Utopia. Looks very similar to Google Chrome. Nothing much to say, despite it did not open www.btc.com, nor opened any other page

If you are familiar with Chrome, it will take a second to get familiar with Idyll. I've tested web proxy, and it took around 5 seconds to load btc.com page. Proxy opens a tab with requested page in Idyll browser. But if user wants to open another page through proxy, he would have to go back to Utopia program, click Tools> Web Proxy. It would be more convenient, if this Web Proxy button can be found in Idyll browser (like a widget). I am sure that is not hard to add and it would save from extra clicking.



Last but not least - games. I really do not know why Utopia program has it, as no one was playing poker (waited for 15min, no one joined), and to be able to play chess, I need to send an invitation first. Maybe it would be good if there would be an opponent search, or at least I could play against PC. Games is not the feature devs should spend time on, as there is no demand for it.

In conclusion – the program requires time to understand, to test how everything works. For a tech guy, it will not be a problem. For a newbie – he will need 5-20 minutes to understand where is what and it does.

Hi guys beyond this point, every review should include the web proxy and review of the wallet. Lastly, you should include images.

Intro

Utopia (yo͝o-tōpē-ə), noun: A world in which everything and everyone works in perfect harmony. (Wiktionary); Any idealized place, state, or situation of perfection. (Webster's New World)

When it comes to the modern web, we often take for granted the fact that we have communication that is instant, pages of information on quite literally any topic, personal diaries, business portals, digital currency. While these are commonplace now, they were not always so. From the beginning days of IRC, email, BBS and MUDs, to the GNUtella networks, Bittorrent and TOR; these have defined the way many of us view the world and interact within it.
The Utopia Peer to Peer network aspires to combine many of these aspects into a single unified experience. Many have tried in the past to create a secure and anonymous communication platform (Bitmessage, I’m looking at you), but most have failed in some way or another. In the past 15 years, I can honestly say I have not been so excited or genuinely impressed by a platform that has integrated most of what we enjoy about the web. Let me show you its features and explain the reason why I feel this way.

Getting Started

Getting Utopia is a very easy process. Simply go to https://u.is/ and click on the top right “Download” button.


There are multiple platforms to choose from, including Linux, macOS, Android and Windows. Installing on Windows is a breeze and installing on Debian based Linux and RHEL based Linux is also not an issue. Getting it installed natively on Arch Linux is a bit of a pain due to there not being packages, AppImages or a source code to build, but you can get it to work, you just have to jump through a few more hoops to do so.
Once installed you’ll get your public key. This is essentially your ID. It is also your wallet address for the Utopia cryptocurrencies.


Ecosystem

The utopia ecosystem is incredible. Right away you might face a bit of information overload as there are so many options and things to see. But take your time and read all you find. There is also a Chatbot that you can ask questions to if you have something specific. Here is an example:

We also have their version of email called uMail. Essentially the same as email, but within the Utopia ecosystem. I don’t know anyone yet to send uMail to, but feel free to send me your Public key and I’d be happy to say Hi! Utopia’s Currencies, Web Proxy, Games & uNS

Utopia has 2 of its own cryptocurrencies. Their native currency called Cryptons and a USD soft-pegged stablecoin called UUSD. I have not been able to try their UUSD, and because of the closed source nature of both UUSD and CRP, I cannot delve into the code to see how it is put together.
CRP is at the heart of the paid services on Utopia. Gaming, and their uNS in particular. So far they have Chess and Poker for gaming, but I can easily see how this could be expanded. The uNS is one of my favorite parts, but sadly I haven’t been able to get a Utopia Domain name yet, as they cost 10 CRP to register. But I will be buying one.
Do you remember Namecoin with their .bit domains? What about Emercoin with their .emc domains? Well Utopia has built their own DNS in with the whole ecosystem. To access the utopia based websites they have included with the package their Idyll browser. A great TOR alternative (or will be once the userbase gets higher) and a place that I look forward to see grow. Bundled in with the whole package is a web proxy. Much like TOR, you can browse the clearnet in complete anonymity, totally free. It works much like a VPN. It is roughly the same speed as TOR, though I found sometimes it is much faster. It really depends on what relay you go through. While the proxy within Utopia uses their Idyll browser, you can also configure their Socks5 proxy to use with your preferred browser. I tested the Proxy for DNS leaks and there wasn't even a hint of one.






They have their own exchange on their uNS, which is actually impressive in the volume counts. The trading pairs are low at the moment, at 6, but you can request coins to add.

Mining

You can mine CRP, but it is a bit different than normal POW mining. You NEED a Linux VPS or Dedicated server with at least 4GB of RAM & Public IP Address. For some reason home connections don’t work (or at least mine didn’t). But if you have the resources to mine it, I’d encourage it! They have their own miner tool for this.

Interface

As stated before, the UI can be a bit overwhelming at first. But once you get the hang of it, there is much to discover. I am finding that even after a week of using it daily, I am still discovering little hidden gems and interesting tools integrated within Utopia. There is something new always around the corner.

Users

So far the Utopia P2P Ecosystem is growing slowly, but steadily. Currently as of writing this, there are 6841 Channels (kind of like a discord channel, or IRC channel), the channel I use mostly, currently has 334 users online, but many other channels have up to 900 online at any given time.
I see big things in this community’s future, and I am so glad I am now part of it.

Conclusion

Utopia is striving for something we have all wanted, but could never quite find, or had the technical knowledge to make happen. It is only a matter of time until their CRP currency explodes and the userbase climbs at a neck breaking speed. Coupled with the uMail, uNS, Chat, ChatGPT Bot, File Sharing, Market, Currency, Decentralized nature, and censorship resistant ecosystem; the Utopia platform is unlike anything I have ever used.

Download it and try it out, I promise you won’t regret it.

Utopia Review
I have been using Utopia on mobile and my PC long before joining the review campaign and my overall experience with it has been as below.

Installation
I used my Linux Laptop with POP OS to install the Utopia client. The installation was native and without any extra steps than windows.

The App
What I liked the first thing about the app is it stays on the tray when you close it. This is a good thing for an app that is supposed to be ever online.
The options you get on clicking the tray icon are useful.


The app UI is comfortable enough. A bit retro look which maximizes utility. There are enough documentation and help for someone who struggles to find.
API feature though I didn't tested personally would work on creating a bridge between in app and outer internet.

App focuses on social and wallet aspects. Chat and adding people to contact is good. Managing contact is effective. There's more efficient handling of the chat than other social networks. File size limit of 2GB is good enough.

The channels are plenty but there are not enough players engaging in except a few channels. Being able to tip players by username is good.
There are 4 themes. You can change the layout or pin and unpin some tabs. Put the tab bar at bottom and many other aesthetic modification.



Played poker for a while but there mostly aren't many players.
Airdrop does make people come. Staking rewards are good incentive.
Crypton transactions are easy and different ways to use and distribute makes it easier. In app Exchange is instant.
The free proxy and privacy focused browser for users are useful.
Umail seems not much effective when everything can be done in chat.

The AI being a OpenAI model has overall info about the app and overall.

Suggestions

Works should be done to engage users on channels. I'd love to see more P2P games like rock paper scissors which are easier to implement.
In app market for good and services might bring more engagement and utility, Gift cards, Top ups. Users market, though it might be difficult to regulate.
Internal crypto wallet with option to exchange (swap) would be a good addition.

That could be unaffordable expense but being able to send and receive emails from other providers within the app to a personalized utopia email address would have been great.

There are options for using proxy in app but I was not able to get log into on my office internet where there's a web filtering to stop mining related sites. Options to access the server using proxy on login would be good.
