I totally agree. Staking is the best option to avoid making loss due a crash. Everyone who wants a safe income should prefer Version.
In this type of market or any market in general, you can't go wrong with a Proof of Stake coin like Version. Even if the market crashes and the price goes down, your wallet can remain open and you can continue staking your Version coins and continue receiving staking rewards.

I compiled the wallet for ubuntu 64 but. It consumes 100%CPU and about 1.5 GB memory, constantly. Not sure how to get around this problem.

If there is no coin control button on the send page then you just have to enable it at
Controls > Options > Display > Display Coin Control Features
There is no such menu. No Vault, Control, Help at all. Just a working wallet.
