It is sad to see the scene with the mannequins as an audience.
you will not feel sad if you understand the situation, at least there's something the players can see and they'll condition their minds that its the fans supporting them.
Athletes can still play without an audience, IMO, it's just an additional boost to their confidence for them and probably there's no pressure on it since they knew our situation right now.

How about eSports players, they're just playing online tournaments without any audience or fans right now 'cause the current pandemic affects also the major events of eSports like Worlds 2020 and TI10. All of those players knew that this is for the best and shouldn't think about themselves. It's kinda selfish to think that they need audience to boost their confidence.
I think there is no need to go to that extreme. The sports that are being resumed will be done behind closed doors and so that everything goes well in terms of contagion is that they are carried out under strict preventive measures. It is the only way while the world waits for a cure.
It's necessary to be in close doors and no audience that is allowed to watch, of course aside from those who are really needed to be in the venue.
They call it the new normal as the vaccine will take a year to develop, so we should adjust and get used to it, but still put in our mind that this is just temporary.
Agree, any sports event should be implemented in close doors. If you knew how dangerous COVID-19 is, you will know that it's best to follow this kind of measure 'cause athletes are people too, they aren't superhumans that can't be affected by the virus even with a single drop of it from the audience.

I have watch video regarding Taiwan on how they handle the covid-19, they are a country that despite of the covid-19, they never do a lock down, they are still doing the normal routine but they only practice discipline for social distancing, we might not notice this country as it's a small country but according to the video I've seen, they are now one of the supplier of face mask in the world, and just like what it showed in the picture, they are not halting their sporting events but they just don't allow fans to be in the venue, hopefully that's what other countries will follow.

Actually this will really differ on the level of discipline on said country. If they have done by other places like Taiwan then other countries can do it too but its citizens would really be the key on having a perfect system that should really be followed strictly if they do like for their current situation wont end up on a lock down. Its surprising that they havent impose any quarantine state or lockdowns but they do set out measures to avoid the spread. Its really just a matter of discpline.

I have seen this thread only now but I want to reply even if late.
No, we don't need the vaccine to start sports again.
Athletes are people who are physically better than many other people and are often privileged with the possibility of making multiple swabs.
Unlike them, the worker does not have the opportunity to do tests and they are forced to work in factories for a thousand euros a month...
Sports can reopen obvious without people in the stadium.
We already saw that there are already sports that had resumed even though we dont still have the cure/vaccine. Its just understandable that it isnt really that good for the industry
if it would take too long for such resume. It would highly affect the entire association including into its players. If others do make it then other sports would
do it as well but they should follow up the new procedure to lessen up the risk of widespread.

Most sports events are halted, suspended, postponed, and canceled because of the pandemic virus for about to 1-2 months now. Within that short period, the damage is serious so I can't imagine if it will take a year or over.

The impact of Covid-19 on sports bet was felt. Many sports bet schedules have been postponed and even canceled because of this pandemic. However, several sports bets are already planning to reopen their sports bets in June. On the contrary, many sports bets are partially retreating even at least September will open again for security. This has been an extraordinary and influential effect on many parties.

a) wait for the vaccine even it will take years, end of the discussion
I think this is very crucial, If waiting for vaccine over the years, it means that sports bet will be dying. I don't think that the sports bet will wait for years to be able to play again. they will try to open the sports bet for some reasons and with notes. Of course, it is done by paying attention to the condition. In this case, as the previous pandemic, this may end along with the condition of the human antibody to be able to against it. And I am sure that now some parties may offer the vaccine as one of the solutions for this pandemic.

b) resume slowly with several considerations such as no audience, limited number of staffs or any important things to do before considering resuming, unless the area or place was heavily affected
This might happen, but is it true without the audience? Or will this batch sport take place online or live streaming? Of course, I'm sure activists and business people in batch sports will not standstill. Especially because this is a business field for many parties. It won't be closed any longer.

I stand with Ukraine.
~

Nice image. Actually not bad at all since we understand the situation.

Fans cheering in front of a player always make them more energetic. That's the big change that a player should try to adopt. At first, there is a difficulty but eventually, they will become used to it. In my view, 1-2 years with no live fans might happen.
~

In my opinion,  it's hard to impossible to get used to it. Something has to be done in this regard. In fact some attempts were already made. Not long ago, a Taiwanese baseball team(or their managers?) decided to stock their stands with mannequins:

Idk, I think my suggestion from above

~I would place loudspeakers on the stands of the stadium half of which connected the fans of a team A via the Internet, and another half connected the fans of a team B. In this way, fans would be able to express their emotions and to be heard. ... ~

is a slightly better idea.

If only players could see it! I'm sure they'd prefer live shouts of their real fans to lifeless robots!

There will be some continuations obviously, they are waiting for the vaccine but they can't just let their fans wait next year. They will find a way to continue games for example games without audiences or maybe they will do certain measures to continue the games. I think that would be the only way they can continue games, no audiences, and just do it in certain places.

guess they will continue some of the games by next month. waiting for the vaccine to be available is like waiting for eternity to some of them. if they will do the necessary testings before the game - and can only be possible to very small group of individuals like in boxing or table tennis, then i think it will be good for the time being. they need to restrict the number of people, only the vital persons should be allowed and just do the PPV. so at least some of the sports can be live again soon. vaccine will take long time to be available in public and there's no definite timeline for the release so something should be done for now.

Perhaps, they cannot wait for a long time until the vaccine can be found, so they decide to restart the sports event. Besides that, we don't know when the scientist can release the vaccine while they need money to buy their daily needs. And if football and basketball can resume the match or reschedule the game, that will make their fans happy because they can watch their favourite teams play again. Until the vaccine can be found, sports will need to restrict all people who want to come to the stadium because the Covid-19 is still there.

They don't have a choice and for betterment of everyone they resume the league with not crowds, although player need this since its really different if you heard a crowd cheers for you.

Its expected to get dropped since ticket sales are not available for the crowd so maybe they will recover it from advertisement and other forms which their team can generate an income.

I guess they are doing that through their social media.

Since people don't have that much to do right now in their houses, the best thing to keep people looking at the league is by making their players update things and even make events like they did where they play a game against other players. I don't know if they are actually getting something from it but I guess that is their step to get the attention of more people in their houses.

They would increase ppv cost which is somehow anticipated because this is the only way that they can generate out revenue since ticket sales
arent possible this time then they would pull it off in ppv. They should not really increased the price that much so that people would still able to
enjoy without breaking the bank or spending that much because if they do such increase then im sure there be lots of criticisms would be
thrown to them.
Probably, that would be their justification as they will make sure they make profit on this.
Also, we will have to consider the number of people who will avail on the PPV and that's another factor that will help increase the revenue.

They should at least be reasonable since we are on a pandemic situation where most people havent go back to their jobs yet which means
they should consider out that not all people would be willing to spend that much.
The basis of the reasonable price when they make a profit, and PPV is not for everyone, its not a need that they have to consider everyone, this is only for those who can afford and willing to pay the price in exchange for the entertainment.

We are not certain how long we're going to wait for the vaccine because it can take months or years.

So its better to resume the sports events slowly. However they must abide to take precautions and do what must be done in order to assure the safety of everyone. This can help the economy to return back to normal.

Nevertheless we still need the vaccine because thats the answer to our current problem.

They say it's possible that soccer will be without fans until 2021.

This how the stands of the stadium looked like during the latest Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich game:

It's a pity that there are no fans. Players definitely need them.

But, it turns out that financially wise, fans are not that needed any more. According to BBC, Premier League match day income from fans dropped from 45% in 1992 to 13%(of total revenue) last season. I believe we have a similar situation in other countries too.

So, the games themselves will be resumed soon, but, for better or worse, they will be going without fans for some time.

The vaccine option looks like utopia.
Given the fact that the virus is able to mutate, we have a rather mediocre chance of creating a vaccine.
Suppose we succeed and we get a vaccine from Covid-19 this year.

However, we are not immune to the emergence of a new strain of the virus, Covid-20, or any more complex mutation.
Every year we come across new viruses that come up with a vaccine several years later.
Probably here we will see exactly the same situation. People will be sick and develop their own immunity.

I believe the best method is a gradual return to normal life, I think that most people in certain countries have already developed their own immunity from the virus.

At least, in your country, the sports events concern with people lives, so they make some prevention from the virus. That is necessary because we don't know who is the carrier, and the pandemic not ended yet. By selecting the people who will be allowed in that event can help the sports to keep alive so people will have another entertainment while they stay at home.

Anyway it is not possible to suspend all economic activity for the next 12-18 months. Along with other economic activities, sporting activities must be allowed to resume. No one is going to benefit, if all the sports events are cancelled and the players sit at home. The events should be allowed to resume, after making sure that strict crowd-control and social distancing measures are in place.
Yes, it is not possible to suspend the economic activity, but if we see what is happens now, some of the economic activity still run in this pandemic. If the sports even were delay or cancel, I think the players need to do something to kill their boredom, but they still need to practice so they could maintain their skills. But before the sports events resume, there are a lot of things that must be prepare before people or players can feel safe to watch or play.
