POT (Pot Coin)
It's a coin meant to address a real market (multi billion $ market at that), that needs to learn and adopt crypto currencies. The devs are working hard to bring in tools and ease of use to help make it happen. The community is very good natured and generous. POT was born out of the usual crypto markets by necessity, but the purpose here is to transcend the speculation role and become a real world workhorse currency in a market that specifically needs the many benefits only crypto currencies can offer.
Ultimately, in a world chock full of clone coins, Pot Coin's biggest strength may simply be marketing. It's a coin with an immediately obvious, and immensely popular purpose, and one that appeals to a market that easily dwarfs the entire current crypto markets. Most people have never heard of, and don't know why they would ever bother with crypto currencies. But people easily understand why you would want Pot Coin for dealing with that market. It can solve a lot of real world problems for a lot of real people doing real and regular transactions.
The marijuana communities are used to living outside the law, and making due for ourselves. And even though some places are at long last legalizing the herb, too many other places are still persisting with the evil insanity of a drug war that has long been lost, doing vastly more damage than it has ever done good. Like Canada. Imagine how it feels for me living in BC, to realize weed is now legal in neighboring Washington, and yet still illegal here. It's downright shameful and embarrassing, is the gentlest thing I can say. We need to conduct business in spite of these barbaric laws, until the throwbacks who would still jail good people for smoking some weed have lost their hold. We need good tools to fight this battle. And Canadians will need to exchange between POT and CAD in the process.
I don't believe in dodging bullets: if you adopt POT, your business could face criticism for siding with "black markets" or some such bullshit. Stand proud I say, the abject fools that would try to blacken your name are on the losing side of history here, and their inability to let go of yesteryear's failure and embrace a freer, healthier future is more than obvious to the vast majority of onlookers. Remember that 2 out of 3 political parties are touting legalization. The marijuana industry is not a black market, it's just good honest business suffering oppression, mostly sponsored by people selling poison in bottles. When the dust has settled, and reality has finally won, marijuana will sit beside beer, wine and booze in your local store. Until then, billions of dollars will still be changing hands to make people happy and healthy, and we'll all thank everyone who helped get us through and move us past these dark ages.
(FWIW, I haven't smoked pot in over 20 years, I'm just utterly disgusted that people still go to jail for living free, instead of getting help when they have drug problems. It's a vast tragedy, and Pot Coin is one small step forwards out of ignorance.)
