Only one more coupon to be paid for MEI.DEEPBIT.A all done, MEI.DEEPBIT.B's first coupon paid, as well as MEI.SLUSH.B's first three.

Some highlights:
  • Bitcoinpool hashrate exploded!
  • Eclipse, Bitminter and Izod have now been increasing their proportion of network hashrate for the last or two.
  • Ozcoin and p2Pool finally get lucky, now in their second weeks of good luck.

Only one more coupon to be paid for MEI.DEEPBIT.A, and no real problems - apart from coupons being paid too frequently. So due to customer preference, MEI.DEEPBIT.B will have four coupons paid rather than 10.

The same PPS payment is now available for Slush and Ozcoin miners as well. Details at the links below.
DeepBit: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/glbse-deepbit-miner-variance-protection-87990 and https://glbse.com/asset/view/MEI.DEEPBIT.B
Ozcoin: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/glbse-ozcoin-miner-variance-protection-available-now-92534 and https://glbse.com/asset/view/MEI.OZCOIN.B
Slush: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/glbse-slushs-pool-miner-variance-protection-92531 and https://glbse.com/asset/view/MEI.SLUSH.B

I hope everyone found the new colour-blind friendly colours and chart layout easier to read and understand. Any comments or preferences?

Some highlights:
  • Bitcoinpool finally added. Some bad luck for them this week unfortunately so only one round of stats is available. Their current hashrate is greater than indicated by the average hashrate for that round.
  • Bitclockers has changed their stats page to make it unscrapable, so until they change back or someone can post to a cmv/json api for pool round history, I cannot update their stats any further.
  • Ozcoin and p2Pool finally get lucky, now in their second weeks of good luck.
  • BTCMine has had some bad luck for the first time after five consecutive weeks of very good luck.

The first two coupons from DeepBit Mining Variance Insurance have now been paid.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/glbse-deepbit-miner-variance-protection-87990
https://glbse.com/asset/view/MEI.DEEPBIT.A

I've attempted to make this weeks charts easier to read in two ways:
1. I tried to make the layouts simpler and the charts smaller so you can read the information at a glance. This means less available information, but I think it is a good balance.
2. I'm using a "colour blind friendly" palette. Not so pretty, but since 8% of white males have some form of colour blind, and since I rely on colours so much, I thought some of you might appreciate it.

Some highlights:
  • Network hashrate chart now showing a 50% line, the top pool's hashrate and the combined hashrate of the top three pools.
  • Ozcoin has third highest hashrate this week.
  • BTCMine stays quite lucky.

DeepBit Mining Variance Insurance now available:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/glbse-deepbit-miner-variance-protection-87990
https://glbse.com/asset/view/MEI.DEEPBIT.A

If you're a proportional miner on DeepBit that survived the recent week from hell over there, you might want to give it a look.

The bond simply pays coupons in proportion to the average/expected round lengths, over a number of blocks. If your DeepBit has a bad luck, you get paid more. If your DeepBit has good luck, you get paid less.

Some highlights:
  • Ozcoin continues its quick hashrate rise and now vies for second place with Slush and BTCGuild.
  • Eligius' hashrate drop has leveled out. Here's hoping they recover soon.
  • Russian pools Itzod and Mkalinin look set to enter the middle hashrate group.
  • It has been a week of bad luck for most pools except BTCMine, who hit a very lucky patch.
  • BitcoinPool to be added soon.

Almost reaching the June 2011 network hashrate high...

I'm surprised it took this long to be honest.  The difficulty:price ratio for April - July was completely skewed.  But before that, it was looking pretty much like what we have today.  Paired with more efficient mining: GPU miners improved almost 50% in April with BFI_INT and other optimizations, FPGAs like Ztex, Icarus, etc., and the BFL Singles starting to be released in massive numbers (and now mini rigs).

The mining landscape is very different from what it was last year, and all of it is more optimized and power efficient.  Quite frankly we should be at a higher difficulty than we are already [mining should not be as profitable as it is for some people].

chart porn is back!!!!!!!

not such a pretty picture for us this time around though

Thanks ooc Cheesy

Not so pretty luck-wise, but your increase in average hashrate is pretty good for your miners. If your hashrate continues to increase, extremes of good or bad luck will be a thing of the past.

Thanks for being patient, everyone. The current update is below.

I do have some pretty interesting news though. I will soon be able to help you manage your mining earnings variance through a bond on GLBSE: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/glbse-deepbit-miner-variance-protection-87990

The bond simply pays coupons in proportion to the average/expected round lengths, over a number of blocks. If your pool has a bad luck, you get paid more. If your pool has good luck, you get paid less. Easy! This will be handy for anyone who would be adversely affected by a pool's bad luck - for example the pool ops of small PPS pools like Mt Red.

I'll post updates here to let you know when the bonds are available.

PM me or post to the thread if you want more details.

I charted pools percentage of network hashrate rather than the table I previously used. I hope it's easy to follow. I've also added average round length / difficulty, as requested by Sgt Spike.

I'll be AFK for the next 4 weeks. The pool statistics will all continue to be calculated automatically with the exception of Maxbtc, whose data I can't pull in an automated fashion. I'll post the interim stats when I get back.

Some highlights:
  • New pools added: BTCGuild, BTCMine, Coinotron, Mkalinin, Mt. Red and Triplemining.
  • Chronological percentage of network hashrate is now presented as a chart. Network hashrate is also present for comparison.
  • Ozcoin has now been significantly lucky for three weeks in a row.
  • Bitminter is the only pool to increase hashrate for five weeks in a row.

Please refer to the OP if you require explanations.

It is nice to see the top 4 pools combined only have 48% of hashing power.  Even top 5 is only 51%.  Hopefully the trend continues and we see the top 5 combined fall under the 50% mark.

I just realised what you were getting at and I'm not including btcguild atm since they don't publish any round stats at all. So they're probably around 10% of the network, which makes the top 3 under 50%, but the top 4 over 50%. I've got a bunch of new additions for next week (and the updated p2Pool).

It would be great if I could include the likes of btcguild and 50btc.com but there are simply no round stats to be had from these pools. I realise those two are PPS and so their miners might not care about round stats, but so is Mt Red and they have a full stats page.

I have a concern that some of the newer PPS pools might be partly proxying like ABC pool. Publishing round stats would be a way of proving they're not.

It is incomplete - that's because I'm also getting an average for hashrates as well as blocks, and also comparing to network hashrates and blocks solved. If you know of any simple way for me to get the data I need I'd be glad of the help. Also, if Triplemining has an API I'll add it.

Note that your list is still rather incomplete... There are more pools out there.

My site has more pools: on http://blockorigin.pfoe.be/top.php you can find the ranking of the pools.    This is live data.

Sweet - a nice json api. I'll try to update tonight or tomorrow. This will also allow me to calculate hashrate instead of just using the mean from forre.st/graphs. Has it always been there?

Why N/A on p2pool's blocks?

I haven't found a way to scrape that data. It's on P2pool.info, but not html scrapable, and no data like that exists on forre.st (at least not that I've found). I'm happy to be corrected on that point though.

Yes, deepbit and slush have dropped significantly recently, and so have a few other pools. A few have increased hashrate (Ozcoin, bitminter) but not many. I'll present the chronological data in the form of a graph next week to show trends more clearly (plus I'll run out of room soon anyway).
