Well I use Avast too, like the most of the people who voted here and I don't have any problems with it so far (I'v been using it for ~5 years). I have a friend that doesn't use any and he doesn't complain too - he is with windows 7 like me if this matters. I think if a person don't go to shady websites and click or download every pop up on their screen, will be fine, even without an antivirus program.

I dont use one, only common sense. For years w/o infection. I only have adblock on my browser.
Open .pdf's online, and test new programs in sandbox or VM. No sense in paying for what you dont need.

Probably the only smart post I have seen on this thread.  AntiVirus Programs are snake oil.....and most people don't even know it......
