Japan is a good place to get over with your vacation due to the fact that you're safe from terrorists and bandits. In contrast, it's quite sad that it points directly to the ring of fire which means they are really prone to earthquakes and being near to the pacific ocean gives them a lot of hurricane per year than any other countries.

IMHO, I consider japan as in the middle tier in terms of peace. I find the word peace in connection with not just the people, but with the nature too.

It's not as buffeted by cyclones as the Philippines though. It's mostly the tsunamis to watch out for, they have very strict building code and many of their buildings are sturdy enough to withstand quakes.

Other than that, the peace and order is high than most other Asian countries. Of course if you're a foreigner wanting to move and live there then you might have some trouble.

Which countries in the world do you think are the most peaceful and peace-loving?

Aggregates never give you the correct picture.

It is not the country that is "safe", it is cities and neighborhoods.

You can find safe and dangerous cities in every country.

You can find safe and dangerous neighborhoods in every city.

Maybe you want to know which cultures are most peaceful?

In Asia I would think it would be Japan. Save for skirmishes with the Chinese, they're not embroiled in any international conflict and have no terrorism problems. Same with South Korea, the only thing you'd have to worry about is the North.

Japan has progressed a lot. After looking at the level of genocide which they perpetrated during the 1930s and the early 1940s (especially in China and Korea), you will be really surprised to see their current state of affairs. Perhaps that is the only good thing which has come out of the ongoing American occupation of Japan.

Really??

My country are in position 78? And Greece is in position 73? Senegal in position 60?

Brazil is in position 100?

Wow, my country are in a good position.

Something Shocked me, why the hell is the United States in position 114?

Because the US has been almost constantly at war since it's inception, and in the past 50 years or so has started more wars than I can think of.

Deaths from guns are also very common, not that the NRA would admit that.

Even though the US doesn't tend to be on the receiving end of attacks, there can be a lot of hate crime and unsettling behaviour, especially from governments.

Really depends on what you think peace is for a country.  The US often does not contribute to peace.

I really do not know and can not guess to answer this question. I guess we should try living in some countries in a few moments to be able to answer this question. Because if you just rely on the source on the internet, a lot of nonsense things are preached, or we can call a hoax. So we can not completely trust what's on the internet.

I've never been abroad so I'd probably just go with the ranking. In general, ethnically homogeneous countries tend to be more peaceful because of reduced internal conflicts. The Nordic countries seem to be on top of the list but whether that would continue in the future is unknown....

As soon as I saw the question, Switzerland came to my mind. I lived there for 3 years for school. It was very peaceful and clean. My friends and I, walked outside at night, we didn't feel dangerous. But we still be cautious. Because it was too peaceful, sometimes it was boring too. lol

Switzerland comes to my mind. They are a powerful nation, and yet they haven't invaded any third world nation unlike the European Union member countries. Also the calm peaceful island nations in the Pacific, such as Palau, Micronesia and Marshall Islands.

They're right smack between European powers so they had a policy of neutrality, just to be on the save side. The terrain also somewhat helps.

In Asia I would think it would be Japan. Save for skirmishes with the Chinese, they're not embroiled in any international conflict and have no terrorism problems. Same with South Korea, the only thing you'd have to worry about is the North.

Pacific island nations, I don't think they'll still be in existence by the end of the century.

Oh man, you need to check out the Global Peace Index! Find it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Peace_Index

Iceland has topped the list every year since 2013.

And New Zealand, Portugal, Austria, and Denmark round out the top 5 for 2017.

I've visited Iceland, New Zealand, Austria, and Denmark...all are very friendly, inviting, and jovial places to be. This ranking has been compiled every year since 2007. Check out how low ranked some of the G8 countries are...surprising but not shocking.
