The bitcoin price continues to go high as some bitcoin analysts predicts that another price acceleration is imminent. With this situation i tend to hold the bitcoins more and wait for another price hike before I sell it. The current price movement might be one of the factors why some people like to hold their bitcoin more as they look for a sign if the time is ripe to sell it.

When Bitcoin price shoots up I just try to decide whether the price will stay at that level for longer it will drop immediately. If the price stay at same level after increased price than I would like to hold bitcoin and if price keep increasing or decreasing than I would like to sell my Bitcoins for some profit.

I would sell all my coins to book a profit.  What's the use of waiting when it will go down .   You just missed the opportunity to sell and buy back at bitcoin dip before rising again.  The moment the price hit your target selll price, don't hessitate to sell and book a profit.
But I'm not sure all the bitcoin holders will be having some short term target and always looking for that. Whenever I do hear about bitcoin price up surge, I just will be glad but definitely will not be looking to book profits for my bitcoins. This is may be I'm not looking for any short-term targets.

there are different strategies, some people take high risks of trading every day (short term) and make profit that way and some choose to hold bitcoin forever until there is a real huge price rise.

and also there are some in the middle who take a medium risk and sell if there is a "shoot up" because there is always a correction and they buy immediately after they sell to get back in the dip but have more bitcoin because of the profit.

The problem if the price will continues to increase or keep rising.. if you sell to early you will not gain more profit if the price will keep rising..
like other said better to sell some and the rest are for waiting for price increase if the price will keep rising you can sell them to make more profit..
This is just like traders doing..

Sometimes I sell it, but I never sell all the coins. Often there is the potential for the
price to keep rising, so it is good to have something saved, due to the chances of making better profits.
On the other hand, sometimes I have the wrong timing, and I end up not selling the coins when I should.
I think, in investment it might get more doubled.
But then if I have enough money then it richest high I guess exchange it to the fiat currency.

Hi,

I'd like to know what do you think is a good strategy when BTC price shoots up and you feel it's going to come down again.
- hold on to your Bitcoin?
- Sell it for USD hoping to buy it again cheaper?
- Sell it for other crypto (in this case which would you choose)?

When the price of bitcoin is really high comparing with the price that I bought and If my plan is not to sell then I just keep watching when will the price crash because that happens always after a huge pump, if you are an USD/BTC trader then you may sell them and hope to buy again after the crash.

Basic rule if its in place you will end up in earning rather than a greed to just keep holding and end up sometime in a loss. Always have the earning to cost ratio and if it crosses a certain percentage start selling if not whole to an extent which will propel you to take the rising price advantage as well.

Very nice way mate!, save it until it last, it will be great to have some money left in your wallet.
So for me, I rather keep my money on investing than waiting that value to shoot up

Well for me i will do same since its proven  that the price is keep rising if you sell all your bitcoins right now you dont have a chance to buy bitcoins again for a cheap price unless if there is hack happen again in some trading site..

If the price goes up realy high I exchange a part of bitcoins to fiat and use that money to cover some bills and stuff, that seems cheaper to me. Sometimes in situation like this I try to invest some smaller part and hope this will bring me profit so I can enlarge my bitcoin portfolio. And I hope that price will go even higher.
So you have a bitcoin portfolio Cheesy can you please explain what this is all about.Do you invest and diverse your portfolio using bitcoin or paper money or do you mean to have an altcoin portfolio Smiley

I will sell it and withdrawal to my bank account with bitkonan site because they can directly send my bitcoins to my bank account with very low fees almost no fee  because I want buy house and car and some shares in real life and then open company and start to try trading in site like iq option.
definantly every one is investing in bitcoin to make money so if i realize that the price of bitcoin is now to its top then i will certainly sell it and will secure my profit, because the market can take U turn any time and the price of bitcoin can start decrease to some level. therefore it will be better to secure the profit and they wait for market correction to buy bitcoin again at some low level.

For bitcoin, I chose the investment, rather than speculation. So, I'll keep it when the value of bitcoin is raised.
But if you want to obtain your profits you still need to sell it unless you plan to use that bitcoin without converting it to fiat ever again and to use it to grow even more bitcoin.

When the price rises significantly, I always sell part of my Bitcoins for fiat and still hold onto another part.
I don't really actively trade anymore, so I usually don't buy into other altcoins.

It depends on what kind of investor you are.If you like to hold bitcoin then its your decision because most people do hold off their bitcoins is to those person dont really bother to make up some investments or doing trading because they dont like to risk their money to earn money so they decided to better on holding it but there are people really loves to risk.
Yes I never bother about short term bitcoin fluctuations basically when we are targeting very big price levels definitely we will ignore small fluctuations or intermediate targets too.

Honestly I will not sell my bitcoins when it will hit $1000 or even $2000. Because I am waiting for a very big target, you may wonder like what those levels, yes I'm waiting and holding my bitcoins for my retirement life.

I don't care much about holding bitcoin for very long time. I believe that if profit is seen, sell and wait for the set back to buy back.  Fluctuation is what makes bitcoin beautiful in trading industry.  Ups and downs gives profit to those short term trader, or would i say day traders.  They are the one that benfits the most.  Because they earn daily profit out of their bitcoin holdings.  I won't be surprise if a one BTC holder but trading bitcoin efficiently will out earn a 100 BTC holder that do nothing and sits and wait for BTC to sky rocket in a 10 year scale.
We should not forget only the long-term holders are millionaires or billionaires not those traders who just buy and sell and holders who got temped when bitcoin prices hit $20-50-100-200-500-1000 price levels also not successful in my opinion.

You may argue, that was only luck based but basically bitcoin prices are designed to have huge price levels and why not we make use of them instead of looking for short term daily small profits ?

If the price is shooting up in Bitcoin then i will start to sell it slowly to my fiat currency so that i can buy back more on downfall of bitcoin price. I wont go for another crypto coin if i am selling bitcoins as no other coin has that much worth to buy but only if i go then i will go for ETH

I will sell it in $ and hoping again that the price goes down. That we wait the bitcoin goes up the price to get a big profit then we wait again the time that bitcoin price goes down to buy again.
