I agree with you points. Before buying any altcoin, it is advisable to deeply research the project. Many altcoins have good ideas and are not scam but there are also some altcoin which will sound or look convincing but they are scam. Be patient,do not be in a haste when selecting an altcoin.

So I thoght this could be of help for some that also in search so they will also be inspired .. maybe they could also ad stuff arround here that could be of help!

Research it takes a few days/weeks so if u're in this fase take your time.

1.Forum search about the coin;
2.Join the telegram group and try to interact with the members;
3.Try to make a post on the forum and also see the crowd sentiment;
4.See some data on coinmarketcap.com , : https://icodrops.com/ , https://icorating.com/
5.Watch this tool from investing.com - find here the explination: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.29503403
**LATER EDIT:
6. Team - research moust of the members on linkedin and google , also the backers or advisors.

Doing this can be of help to get a sense of a really good buy... at least this is what  I do.

What are your thoughts ? How do you do it??

Cheers!

I agree on what you have presented and I would like to add more on it. You can also read thw whitepaper of the ICO to know the nature of the business, secondly to assess the team behind it if they are worthwhile and has a positive work background. Check also their roadmap if they are following it. Lastly, make sure that their social media site is well organized because as it will add plus points to them.

Very helpful, because we will not be able to learn all the projects one by one. The more information such as how many percent of their target that has been achieved will be better for our capital to make choices.

Make your own research,analyze development team,no of exchanges listed it,interact with different people on this bitcoin talk forum to get some ideas,Community response,Study descriptive white paper,Watch videos related to that particular Altcoins and get ideas from different crypto expert.I think after getting all of these things you would be clear to decide whether to invest in it or not.

I do it in the same way. What is more, I don't make any investment prior to my friends or people I talk to, tell me about coin or ICO. This shows sentiment of people I interact with and if they did research, I receive more precise information

I often observe the development of coins that I am going to  buy, I often check all social media like telegram, twitter and reddit, medium. if the team that owns the coin is good how it works then I will invest on that coin.

really checking on social media like twitter, will add our confidence to the news coin that we will buy.
I also often read events that will be present we can see it at https://coinmarketcal.com/. may be useful.

Very informative.. For me what I mostly do is:
*pursue a literature search and review of the project (ie. In contrast to it's real life application)

*do a backgroup check of the team members.. Probably their coherence as a team, experience and credibility

*find out if they have existing product or service

I guess this might help..

Spend time in the forums and you'll find a lot of useful information here. When you've seen some recommendations, read the coin's whitepaper and roadmap. That should help you decide

Do your own search as much as possible the background of the coins like teams double check if they are legit or not , their projects if it is totally useful here in our world, how many total supply of them and how many people supporting on it those are the thing you need to care about others will follow through. Goodluck.

At least the above steps, it is helpful to eliminate some projects, and narrow the choice, because now too many startup that do ico at the same time.

Yes, at least the brief reviews and ratings they make are enough to help us to at least select some projects for further research.

this is what I do before buying an altcoin. I always check the chart and see what is going on with that coins. I check the price and the order buy and sell, I search for the support on every order and if I can find the support, then I might place an order in above that support, but I will take a look at the trend of the coins so I can determine if it's down for more or it will bounce up. I don't take much research for buying the altcoin and for me, it is enough to check what coins to buy.

if you want to make an investment then you should do a very in-depth research about the project and make sure who the team is in the project, whether it is a very experienced team or not

I'm not too smart to read market charts but which need to be considered before buying an altcoin is to choose altcoin which at that time the volume trading is high that allows the price movement tend to be fast and good.

the first thing I do before I involve myself in buying any coin is, to first go through the whitepaper check what they are into.. secondly, I check their roadmap to know how they plan to run the project..  the last thing which I check is the total number of that coin in supply and the total number in speculation.

Nice info! Summary information is very interesting and of course, this will be very helpful for the beginners who are here. What I do before buying altcoins on average is almost the same as what you do. A lot to learn about this forum is the key to being able to do whatever it wants to do with crypto. Because in my opinion, the information in this crypto is very broad and very complete. Whatever you want to know about crypto, all the answers are in this forum.

Check the coin that you should buy first so that you cannot regret your decisions you make. Check some news about the coins you choose to follow their social media accounts to gather information, check their road map for their planned and decisions to the became success their projects. Graphs will can help to check the coins for their movements.
