Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

If so, why there is so much debate? You can invest this 100$ in bitcoin or in Ethereum in current market conditions and still be in profit. If she wants to invest more money and that too in bitcoin then it is the safest investment.

I get your point about the potential of $100 not being very much..,. but it still seems like a categorical error to be trying to say whatever to the proposition of Ethereum and bitcoin being the same thing merely because the amount is small...

And, sure, maybe it is not worth it to get into any discussion regarding that piece of shit of a coin (referring to ethereum of course) - because it is not even "on-topic" in this thread.. except that some members are bringing it up.. or wanting to persist with some amount of discussion of it.

I gifted my sister $100 worth of ETH last year when it was hovering around $2k. She also likes to invest on Bitcoin but wants to go all-in. But I told her not to because it’s very risky if she will convert all of her savings into Bitcoin.

My friend you are underestimating Bitcoins according to me. Your sister might have done a proper research before thinking of going all in with Bitcoins. Bitcoins have the highest marketcap compare to any other coins, and it’s limited in numbers, so definitely as the time passes it will become more valuable, and hence due to limited in numbers the price will go high. I guess your sister was thinking right, Bitcoins are always best for long term holding.

First of all, as I am understanding this, his sister wants to invest 100$ in bitcoin. When you said that she was to go all in on bitcoin, we are talking about 100$ only? Am i right?

If so, why there is so much debate? You can invest this 100$ in bitcoin or in Ethereum in current market conditions and still be in profit. If she wants to invest more money and that too in bitcoin then it is the safest investment.
Thwr should be no need of debating on this issue because op is thinking of a means to help the sister invest in Bitcoin which is very good opinion and I think he need to go ahead and do whatever he likes because this money can yield lots of money if the op invest the money in Bitcoin and hold for like 5 year to 7 years. The market is bear now and things is going to change soon and the market will go bullish once this bear is over. Investing is the key for now not holding fiat.

The world is revolving really faster and everything is becoming digital everytime I open my eyes. The way we do things last 5 to 10 years is becoming completely different to this recent time. We are in the era of digital currency where Bitcoin is having a great influence on our lives.

I have a sister and a female friend that will be celebrating their birthday soon and I'm thinking of getting them something unimaginable. Since their is not as much adoption of Bitcoin from women, I thought of giving my sister and a friend Bitcoin as birthday gifts. Although i know it might sounds odd or uncommon to us but I think this will help them a lot and the awareness of Bitcoin because they will end up telling their friends and the friends telling more friends.

All women want to be loved more on their birthdays receiving precious gifts from love ones. Bitcoin is more precious to me than mere gifts that will end up not appreciating in values. How are you going to feel if you receive something that could improve yyour financial life as a birthday? Holding this asset(Bitcoin) for few year from now can become a game changer for her when other gifts might have lost value.

Why I choose Bitcoin over other gifts

- Bitcoin can appreciate more in value with time.
- It is secure and private.
- It is fast and easy to transact.
- Can be a great asset that can change her financial status.

How I planned to do it

- I will educate them on what Bitcoin, Blockchain, wallet and other necessary things.
- Guide on how to create a crypto wallet by themselves.
- Get their Bitcoin wallet addresses.
- Send them affordable Bitcoin on their birthday.
- Contineous briefing on safety, and what cryptocurrency is all about.

I am looking forward to better ways to do this.
 Thanks!

I understand the concept within giving your sister bitcoins as a gift, but you have to remember that when giving gifts, as much as possible we wanna make sure it is something that will strike them as very appealing, something that they can appreciate. The fact that you're giving your girlfriend bitcoins based on the abovementioned reasons is good. But that is where it ends. First, your sister may not be into cryptocurrency because of prejudices against it which would be really pesky to get rid of as her brother. Moreover, isn't gifting supposed to be done by surprise? The fact that you have this elaborate plan to make sure she accepts the bitcoin like teaching her what bitcoin is may spoil the fun for her. But you do you mate!

This is what bitcoin is, but if they don't have the understanding of what you mentioned above about bitcoin it won't be of anything to them. Bitcoin as birthday gift will be meaningful to them except they understand it value and knows what it is. Giving bitcoin to people who don't know much about it is like giving money to a baby who does not know what to do it. Bitcoin should be given to those who have Interest for it and make more value from it.
The most important thing is not only giving gifts, we need to teach anyone about independence, it is okay to give gifts, even though this is not a good culture to apply in life.
But I think the gift given must be able to be used, for example the OP gives a bitcoin gift to his brother, what needs to be considered is whether his brother can increase the number of bitcoins he currently has, because if it only stops at the giving stage, the bitcoins given will not be able to play a role in investment implementation. Knowledge of Bitcoin, Blockchain, wallets, and others needs to be taught in as much detail as possible, so as not to get lost in a narrow understanding.

any update what happened to your plan of giving Her Bitcoin as Birthday gift? we are waiting for some thread update or if there is? sorry I missed that.

___________________________________________

I have given a friend also in the past bitcoin as a gift , but not in His birthday instead i gave Him a gift for him to find chance in learning and investing Bitcoin.

It doesn't matter in which case you give a gift as long as you have good intentions and want to help them, it's appreciated. Like OP's case it's a great gift but for everything to be perfect he should teach her everything about bitcoin. This is also a way for people to access the opportunity where they can earn more money in life, It's more like giving them a fishing rod and teaching them how to fish than just giving them a fish.

Btw, it would be great if OP came back and gave us some updates. Let us know her reaction after receiving bitcoins and will she become a bitcoin investor?

I don't think there's a better gift than that. It's really very well thought out. I congratulate you. Such innovations are turning points both for the crypto money world and for our lives. It will also be a great benefit to people who do not know bitcoin closely. People will get used to the money of the future more quickly.

There are lot of things as gift than Bitcoin mate , you are just confident because you are cryptonian , but for those who are not? they will at least seek for much better one.

Yes, it will make them to upgrade in their businesses because the gift will make them to understand how important Bitcoin is to humanity in the community. Now that the price of Bitcoin has increased to $21,000 in the market, showed that in next 2 or 3 years she will be expecting something good that will change her life for good when the price hit $100,000. I think, the Bitcoin gift will make others to have interest on Bitcoin, by looking for a way to understand Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies so that they will start experiencing what bitcoiners are experiencing from Bitcoin investment.
Only if they are willing to see it though. You could gift someone a time machine, and if they use it as a coaster then they will never have the full potential of what you gifted them. Bitcoin could open the eyes of so many people to what’s going on with our current economic system if they research it well enough and see how much more power they could actually have and make money from it and live a better life, because all of that is possible thanks to bitcoin and long term holding.

However, if they do not want to care, they won't care and I have met with a ton of people who did not care at all, so I wouldn't be shocked if people didn't have any intention to look for the full potential of it.

I am not even sure if it is a good idea to give a bunch of money to some snot-nosed kid.  Sure there might be ways to incentivize them and give them money (or value), but would it really be good to give them a bunch of money all at once.. so they can sit around and do nothing for the rest of their lives?  I have quite a few doubts about that.  But, hey.. you do you.
This is the true, most valuable thing that should be given to a child, this is not a lot of money, but the ability to create this pile of money. Give a man a fish and he will be full for one day, teach him to fish and he will always be full. A big fortune for a young man who does not know how to handle money, it will probably even be dangerous, because if he does not know how to handle money, he can lose it very quickly, starting with unnecessary spending, and ending with scammers who want to get this money.

But if by this time, a child is engaged in financial education, teaching him how to handle money, save and make at least small initial investments, then this will be a completely different case. But even in this case, there is no need to rush to give him this state, you will need to explain to him that this is his, but he will receive it when he himself learns to create something similar, at least on a smaller scale. In any case, we will not have time to spend all our savings before the end of our lives and we will leave something to our children, so we need to make sure that they continue to skillfully multiply it and pass on knowledge to their future generations.

Maybe your sister should be teaching you..?  She might tell you to fuck off with the Ethereum crap.. she wants real money.. I.e. bitcoin.
And we're starting to get confused with him, because his brother is much more advanced in seeing the potential of bitcoin. Whereas if you look at the story, he understands bitcoin better than his brother, if the reason is risk as a consideration, it can be concluded which investment does not contain risk.
We think his brother's thinking is much more powerful and understands how bitcoin can provide something of value in the future, and I think his brother deserves something he wants to achieve, because bitcoin is indeed a good investment for now

That's a very innovation Idea that giving someone birthday gift that is appreciates over and over time, if the person didn't sold it off as soon as she received Bitcoin as a birthday gift, in order words, the world are more into technology, and as you said, teaching them about Bitcoin and how to used the wallet address for transaction is very important, because without knowledge the gift is useless and she will not know the value of digital assets birthday gift giving to her.

I'd be happy if I received bitcoin as a gift. I know bitcoin, I know the value of bitcoin.
But if you give a gift to someone who has no research on Bitcoin, maybe your friend doesn't understand your behavior.
You told him that you explained the principle of bitcoin, and he may only care about the monetary value of bitcoin.
Of course, good friends are more happy when they receive gifts. They don't care what the gift is from you. They care about your heart.

It's been such a long time since I last saw this thread and since then, I just have sent someone some bitcoin for an anniversary gift. Aside from the Importance of the event, I wanted it to be memorable for the party involved but the better idea would be of the individual understands and would be ready to hodl there precious Sats for sometime.
If the individual understands, yes for sure but if this individual would hodl, that I can't tell but, I did my bit and made someone's day special for a time and on the blockchain network.

- Send them affordable Bitcoin on their birthday.

Give them bitcoin as a gift, but not on birthdays and valentines days and Christmas and stuff. A gift(especially for these special days I've mentioned) are mostly something to make them happy; not an opportunity for you to shove down your interests to them regardless if you have good intentions.

you are smart.

at op give them an actual coin with some bitcoin on it.

This is the best gift to give a loved one on a special day birthday is a special event and gifting your sister Bitcoin is a birthday gift will want her the good part is that you mentioned the need for education because that is very important for their security of funds and protecting their assets.
But to say something good about this initiative, this will help to build in her the right knowledge and how to secure her wallet which is the most important.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"
November 06, 2022, 05:37:37 PM
I do something a bit similar to my future kids. I do not have any kids right now, but I am putting some aside for their future, it’s a small amount but it’s something that grows constantly and it’s in staking as well. Think of it like just $25 per month and it’s on staking as well.

Bitcoin does not have staking.

You better pray that you do not get rug pulled - especially if you think that you can gamble for 20 years or so with your money in those kinds of ponzi schemes.

On the other hand, bitcoin itself is a very good investment and likely to compound upon itself.. so why get greedy, and give your keys to someone else to hold, when you already have a good investment in front of you.

Seems crazy to me.. that people are so damned fooled into ideas that they "need to earn yield" when bitcoin is already amongst the best of asymmetric bets that we have sitting in front of us.

Consider someone who had put $10 per week into bitcoin over the past 9 years, they would have invested a total of about $4,700 and at this time, they would currently have nearly 5 BTC.  That should be more than enough for a kids future fund.. and even if you had ONLY invested 1/10th into that, you would still have close to 0.5 BTC right now.. so why put your coins with someone else where the odds are surely NOT very good that they are actually being responsible with your coins and NOT gambling like a bunch of degenerates with your coins.

This way it will grow and if I ever have a kid, and they grow to be like 20+ years old and out of college, they will be looking at their bank account and suddenly see a huge amount out of nowhere, that will be my gift. I believe in 20+ years bitcoin will be huge, so all the bitcoins I am buying right now would be the key to their wealth in the future one day, and of course mine as well because I am buying more for myself lol.

But, hey.. you do you.

All women want to be loved more on their birthdays receiving precious gifts from love ones. Bitcoin is more precious to me than mere gifts that will end up not appreciating in values.
Although sometimes women often say that they don't want a gift, but only they want just a word and more affection on their special day, in fact they don't. They still expect gifts. And when the men give these gifts, coupled with a variety of affection, women will be very happy. Especially if they already know about Bitcoin, about the value of this one asset. They will definitely be very happy.

I don't think there's a better gift than that. It's really very well thought out. I congratulate you. Such innovations are turning points both for the crypto money world and for our lives. We may always think about that, but if the girl is not someone who wants a gift that can be seen when worn and flaunted to friends. but if it was them, then the Bitcoin gift they might consider a display. On the other hand, if the woman truly understands and is willing to understand, then, it will be a very valuable gift. Women are sometimes hard to understand.
