There is nothing wrong in giving them bitcoin as a gift only if the person you want to give fully understand what bitcoin is all about. Maybe you will have to educate them before you give them the gift. I remember when I told my friend am going to gift her 20$ worth of bitcoin on her birthday I have to educate her on what eth is and told to go and open a wallet so that she can have a wallet address to receive the coin. So education is key before you send bitcoin to someone.

Why I choose Bitcoin over other gifts

- Bitcoin can appreciate more in value with time.
- It is secure and private.
- It is fast and easy to transact.
- Can be a great asset that can change her financial status.

This is what bitcoin is, but if they don't have the understanding of what you mentioned above about bitcoin it won't be of anything to them. Bitcoin as birthday gift will be meaningful to them except they understand it value and knows what it is. Giving bitcoin to people who don't know much about it is like giving money to a baby who does not know what to do it. Bitcoin should be given to those who have Interest for it and make more value from it.

Nowadays, many people don't like bitcoin because they still don't know what bitcoin is and they don't have a chance to have someone willing to tell them what bitcoin is. Similarly, she doesn't know bitcoin yet that doesn't mean she doesn't like bitcoin, maybe she has also heard of bitcoin somewhere and hasn't had a chance for someone to show her about it. If you want to know if that child likes money or not, you have to teach him what money can do and surely he will love money.

We are in a time when money comes first and everyone wants to own a lot of money, I believe that after OP explains bitcoin to her, she will be very happy with this valuable gift.

I gifted my sister $100 worth of ETH last year when it was hovering around $2k. She also likes to invest on Bitcoin but wants to go all-in. But I told her not to because it’s very risky if she will convert all of her savings into Bitcoin.

Maybe your sister should be teaching you..?  She might tell you to fuck off with the Ethereum crap.. she wants real money.. I.e. bitcoin.

She knows that investing in BTC it’s like investing in stocks but in a decentralized and easy way. I only educated her about risk management since she is not interested into technical stuff.

You don't necessarily need to know all of the technical stuff, but at least, if she gets started with getting exposure to bitcoin, then once the size of her bitcoin stash gets to a certain level, then maybe she would be able to move most of her value to some kind of a hardware wallet.

Risk management is a good thing for all of us to learn, continue to learn and to relearn (because there are a lot of things always going on in the bitcoin space) in regards to figuring out reasonable and prudent ways to get into bitcoin, and even if we are employing reasonable and prudent manners to accumulating and to increase our bitcoin stash, we still can figure out ways in which we can attempt to be somewhat aggressive in our BTC investment (accumulation strategy) too.. without getting overly aggressive that would cause us to panic if the BTC price goes down, rather than up or staying flat for a while.

We should realize that in the shorter term, the BTC price does not have any kinds of certainty, and even in the longer term we are not guaranteed to make a profit in bitcoin - even though bitcoin does seem to be amongst the best of asymmetric bets that are currently widely available for anyone to get into at a level that is comfortable for them - even if they might attempt to be aggressive with their level of entry into it.. they need to be careful to always keep in mind their ability to manage their monthly expenses and to always attempt to maintain some emergency funds, too... since no one should put themselves into a position in which they have to sell any of their bitcoin at a time that is not of their complete preference and choosing.

I would be happy should my partner or a friend gifts me bitcoin, given that I am into crypto. For someone who doesn’t know about bitcoin or isn’t interested in crypto your kind gesture may not be as appreciated as you think it would. Giving bitcoin to someone who doesn’t understand it will not make her smile, it won’t make her day, schooling her then how bitcoin works is not what should happen within that space. Gifting her bitcoin tells me you’re thinking long-term with this person.
You are right, but where the ops got it right also is when he mentioned that he will educate the sister on Bitcoin, blockchain, and wallets, take for example once the interest is built from the education and followed by a gift of Bitcoin which has an outright value. I think the only thing left that ops didn't mention is how the sister can easily exchange the Bitcoin into local currency so that it can be spendable at any time. The key motivation that can easily motivate anyone is value and interest and if ops present the idea of Bitcoin adoption to the sister with a Bitcoin gift it will easily trigger the sister's interest in Bitcoin since she will already have something of great value.

They will love it! Most people already know or have heard about bitcoin unless you are in a place with no internet and no communication in other modern cities. I am sure that the girl you'll be giving a bitcoin already knows about it; if not, I'm sure she knows that it has value, which would be the start of her journey into the bitcoin world. It is the best approach for a person who is new to bitcoin. Just get back to her after a year to see if she has progressed or what already happened to her after giving it.
If she doesn’t really follow cryptocurrencies, maybe she just heard something somewhere, or is not interested in financial issues, then she may not be interested in such a gift. Or she wants to sell it right away in order to spend the money on something else. I often see that girls are much less likely to take care of their finances, very often they think that a guy should provide them.

I disagree with you on this, she probably won't know what bitcoin is and won't care about it if she hears it for the first time. But with modern women today are like us men who are very interested in finance, they want to be free and not dependent on anyone.

In this case, though she wouldn't be interested in bitcoin because she simply doesn't know what it is, but you can say bitcoin can help her make money and have a chance to become rich with it then I believe she will be interested in it. Don't look down on women today, they're better than us men.

I have a sister and a female friend that will be celebrating their birthday soon and I'm thinking of getting them something unimaginable. Since their is not as much adoption of Bitcoin from women, I thought of giving my sister and a friend Bitcoin as birthday gifts. Although i know it might sounds odd or uncommon to us but I think this will help them a lot and the awareness of Bitcoin because they will end up telling their friends and the friends telling more friends.
That's a nice idea to gift your sister and friend who has no knowledge about Bitcoin, Bitcoin as a birthday gift because, in this scenario, two things are bound to happen, i.e she might either accept It or reject it, simply because it's strange to her, or she can equally accept it and after been told how it been sold, sell it instantly into fiat currency instead of hodling it just the way you think. However, It's a nice idea, and I'm sure by now their birthday must have passed, as it's 6months already since you posted this thread..
So, what's the update? How did the birthday go and how many BTC we're you able to gift them both?

The world is revolving really faster and everything is becoming digital everytime I open my eyes. The way we do things last 5 to 10 years is becoming completely different to this recent time. We are in the era of digital currency where Bitcoin is having a great influence on our lives.

All women want to be loved more on their birthdays receiving precious gifts from love ones. Bitcoin is more precious to me than mere gifts that will end up not appreciating in values. How are you going to feel if you receive something that could improve yyour financial life as a birthday? Holding this asset(Bitcoin) for few year from now can become a game changer for her when other gifts might have lost value.

Why I choose Bitcoin over other gifts

- Bitcoin can appreciate more in value with time.
- It is secure and private.
- It is fast and easy to transact.
- Can be a great asset that can change her financial status.

How I planned to do it

- I will educate them on what Bitcoin, Blockchain, wallet and other necessary things.
- Guide on how to create a crypto wallet by themselves.
- Get their Bitcoin wallet addresses.
- Send them affordable Bitcoin on their birthday.
- Contineous briefing on safety, and what cryptocurrency is all about.

I am looking forward to better ways to do this.
 Thanks!

In fact, to find out the value of a gift or most of them will sell it and get the fiat equivalent and they will jump at you to give them money and that is some depreciating gift (money).

It has always had little meaning over the years to gift someone with money but bitcoin is not just any money, it is money which stands also as an asset of value and value can be further appreciated by holding and determining the value between the present and the future.

As we can see, the industry and companies that have remained neutral over the past few years towards bitcoin are now carrying out their own innovative strategy to update their platform to accept cryptocurrency which will be a positive outcome for the crypto market especially bitcoin. Among the best options is to give them now before another spike or hike is coming.

And let's not forget that As you said that gifts should make them happy on their special day. In my view, special gifts will be kept safely without being spent or given to others

You have done well OP. Gifting them Bitcoin is a different thing and teaching them is another. Teaching them as you have outlined in your Topic is much preferable because that would stamp more ideas and knowledge on how Bitcoin works. It would expose them to lots of happenings around the Bitcoin ecosystem and how things revolves around blockchain to their knowledge. Teaching them would get them prepared to go into the system fully and would make them cherish the information they have gained from your tutoring. While teaching them let them know the ethics of blockchain and Bitcoin so they do not easily get eroded away by the sudden market change. Teaching them why to hold, how and when to hold would go along way to giving them the values bestowed upon Bitcoin. I think this would really make them appreciate the efforts you have put in getting them onboard the Bitcoin and blockchain. You know women are rare in the blockchain industry and are not good investors in the ecosystem. I strongly believe all these strategy would go along way drawing their attention into blockchain. As OP has said when one tells the other, the it tells another and so on and so forth, it spreads like wide fire amongst the female folks and there you have them picking interest in blockchain and Bitcoin to be precise.

Never the less, giving them as gift is not bad but not telling or teaching them how it works is the issue because they would not know the value of what you have given and have no idea how it works but I think you should place emphasis before doing say so they know what they are about taking possession of so as not to be careless with it because they could be very funny sometimes.

As you have listed on how to get the onboard the system, I think you should also show the how the transaction scales through be practical while teaching them about Bitcoin that would give them a better and clearer understanding of Bitcoin.

The first post in this thread is the most ethical way to give bitcoin as a gift , if you truly wanted them to learn and be educated about bitcoin then don't give them this in any special occasions instead to give them any time you have a chance and extra amount.
with this? they will value the crypto as a currency and something to learn and not only to be having.
educating them can be done in normal days , and start that the very moment you find this idea and not on their special days.

For security, depending on where we store it, on the exchange or in the wallet. But the nature of its security is also debatable, Bitcoin is private and does not require a third party to make a purchase or sale. Another advantage offered by bitcoin is actually superior, this uniqueness is what makes bitcoin continue to grow, even though it looks ordinary and small.
Bitcoin can store value, both long term and short term, which is why bitcoin is a store of assets that can work perfectly, even if there are corrections along the way.

Giving bitcoin as a gift is indeed a very unique concept and she will definitely adore it. If she doesn’t have the slightest idea then I don’t think she would be much impressed. However, these days most of the people be it women or men they know about bitcoins and its specialty so you can definitely go ahead with your idea.

It is perfectly alright to give her an asset like Bitcoin. But I will also advise that you gift her something feminine and fancy to complement the Bitcoin. She will appreciate you even more.

giving bitcoin gifts to relatives and friends, it is a good behavior, and of course many benefits for those who receive gifts, and if they hold on to bitcoin and don't sell it then they will get maximum profit in the future. By giving bitcoin gifts to your friends and relatives, it means you are helping their economy to be better.
For the sake of spreading up awareness of bitcoins existence or totally with cryptocurrencies then it would really be a good initiative or step at least even on small scale but at least you are giving the idea about it.
Giving bitcoin serves as a gift would be a good idea but of course you should give out some basic ideas into  that someone who would recieve on what it is so that at least he would really able to appreciate on what you have given.Whether you do make or tell them about basic ideas or they would be the ones who would really making up some research out of curiosity and since not all people would really be that having that interest
into bitcoin and might just ignore those gifts of yours but once they do have idea that it is money then it is really impossible to ignore.

I'm sure no one will give a gift in the form of bitcoin like giving a wedding dowry with bitcoin, it's impossible if it happens only one or two people and even then people who want to seek popularity, for me personally bitcoin is above fiat money, bitcoin is precisely an asset so assets cannot be made into gifts, bitcoin deserves to be inherited.
