Invest what you can afford. I remember I started with $10 or $20? Then I started building my portfolio and invested around $60. I’m glad you already know the rule, “ start with t what you can afford to loose”. That is all you need and you probably have it already. Since you insist on us giving a figure I will say start with $150. I started with $50 and it exposed me to the market and prepared me well before I topped up with much money.
In my opinion, it is better to make your own research and trust your guts.

I would consider $1000 as a good starting point when you want to invest into cryptocurrency. The amount you put in will be proportional to the profit you will make. It is important you put in some amout that would justify your effort and that woukd reward you accordingly.
My rule of thumb is money that you don't need. That you can put in and not lose sleep over. If you're going to lose sleep over the money you have in crypto currency. You have too much invested.
A good amount to invest depends on the individuals financial power, the amount he's willing to invest and his ability toriske, there is no definate amout that is good to invest, just decide what you can afford the invest it
I've seen people who are new in crypto investing more than $1,000 but not more than $10,000 as a start. So guess what's the number that you think you are good with. But I'd prefer you to start investing with bitcoin first before joining any ICO or buying alt coin. That will be the best starting coin for a beginner.

You can start with any amount you want to. Many people start off with small investments like that 100-200s because mostly who invest are younger population and if we take closer look those are not the richest people out there in this world. Because they are at the beginning of their carriers. It all comes down to how much money you can out into this gamble and don't care if you lose it all. 3k as you started is still small chunk of money from the perspective of rich people.

Not even hold coins for friends. I read a lot of bad stories when people were buying coins for their boss and coworkers and friends and then was hacked and ended up not only without their money but also without job and friends.
The answer is simple, you should invest the amount that you allow yourself to lose.
Any amount is good for a start,but you have to keep add it when you have any spare money to maximize your profit later.The problem is,do you have the patience to wait when everything goes red? Many people lose to the temptation to cutloss their investment because they believe they have no hope when market is falling.
If you are new to investing (n cryptocurrencies) then I would suggest a small amount.

There is no good amount to invest, all depends on your plans and ambitions, if you want to make it big, invest big,and take high risks. investment also depends on your capability and capacity, you only invest what you have

Good amount would be the the amount you can afford to lose,because cryptocurrencies has a high market volatility and you shouldnt be risking money that could take half of your life,always invest with the amount that you can afford to lose.Never go all in because in just one bad move you could lose everything that you have,so do not risk it all. With different vision, It will all depend on the time and the project you choose, but in general in my opinion $ 500 is a good amount to start in a promising currency and at least double your money you can do it, or depending on your style hold the investment for 6 months and even win 10x on top of your investment, is an option.
That is enough to get some coins on here. Most coins that are in this forum is worth about a dollar or less.

With $100 it is kind of hard to invest in an ICO, since many of them have a limit for a minimum investment that is higher than that. Instead, this is a good kind of money to buy a great famous coin and just wait for a year or so. Investing less than that might be fun and even somewhat rewarding, but I don't think it will make any difference in anyone's life if we really analyze it. $3k is definitely a kind of sum that could make one's life different. If you get lucky and get a 10x profit, you can buy a flat in an inexpensive country or pay for an MA degree in some good university (not in the US, though).
