One thing that greatly contributes to an altcoin's value would possibly be the people holding the coin and its demand. And to have such impact to these people, you must offer them a technology that is practical and realistic, something that a lot of people would look at it as a need rather than just a technology. With such concept, you might be able to attract more people.
Theres a lot of reason how can altcoin makes valuable like for example if the project attract more people to patronize their project it can make project alive and if the altcoin have a high chance to boom in the future because of active developer and awesome technology that will click in the market.
That only makes a project a good coin to speculate a good coin most of the time has the same ingredients, a good developer team, an innovative idea, a realistic road map and the support of the community, find a coin with all of those aspects and you are looking at a coin that will succeed and become a major coin in a few years, if it is missing some pieces you could still make money and if does not have anything of that then the coin is trash and you should never invest in it.
The project and the team working behind the project makes a coin valuable because the if the team is not active the coin can not survive in this competitive market.

Altcoin and bitcoins are valuable because they do have people just like us who believes in them, without those investors they are also nothing, and since we are the one creating value for them we will as well can destroy them if we found them not profitable or not to invest anymore.

I think the best feature that the alternative coins make them unique and more valuable is because they possess the same manner of bitcoin have. They always increase in the value as the time goes by which is a good thing for investors.
I would like to share my own view so i think that the thing which give value to other thing is the demand of that thing if the people demand and the public interest in the altcoin are increasing over time then the prices will automatically goes up and when the investors have come to know that now the rate is good then they will invest their money and they will try to recover the gape in the bitcoin and altcoin So i am looking the altcoin trading the people some time much interested and sometime the inflow become slow.

Based on what I have read and know, altcoins gains value depending on the technology that backs it and the market cap set by its develops. Obviously, when it has a good technology, more people would actually be convinced to invest in it or trade using it that it would have a higher usage rate that would then transcend to it having a good value. On the other hand, if it has a large market cap, then it has a lot of potential to circulate and be used because more people can hold them as supposed to only having a few in circulation.
Technically talking, an altcoin has value for the same reason everything else has value - people are willing to assign that much value to the object. The more altcoins are widespread as currency through mainstream companies can add value. also, features and mentions in crypto and mainstream media can aid its legitimacy.

Altcoin become valuable base on its blockchain's stability. Many altcoins exist without a value because it does'nt have a strong support of blockchain.

I think that altcoins have gained their value from time, its actually peoples or hodlors who buys low price and hold for years .this is the first reason and the second is the devs .. if the project is getting improved... that means more value for the coins
From time ? You mean all the coins will get some value if time goes on ? If it is so then what will be the actual purpose of that coin ? I believe only the concept behind the coin will be the reason for valuation of that coin. Without those reasons no project will get success so there will be no value for any project's coin.When we are choosing one coin to invest, we are looking for many factors like the team, the concept, the distribution method, total available number of coins and etc.. So, these are the factors which will be deciding the value of one particular coin. Time will give more value based on the progress of the project not from the beginning point itself.
The reason why altcoin is very valuable isbecause mny people are buying altcoins then thy invest it in some ico projects so of there less buyer then less demand
