Money changed its shape through the history. As from non-monetary exchange to the need of having money. Fast forward to our current banknotes which are in my opinion slowly dying with bitcoin taking over. Many discussions are being held if bitcoin can be the primary currency in the world. Let's assume it can be. Everything has an end so what do you think will come after bitcoin? What will money look like hundreds of years from now? I predict its gonna be digital of course but I'm interested if its going to be a cryptocurrency or something else.

Money will likely be unnecessary in a super-advanced world : it will be a world where competition is eliminated., a world where everything we need in life exists, no more death, no suffering, no more filth, no pain. That world will come but it won't be the kind of world we expect.

This is a deep question to discuss. To talk about the future, the only thing we can do is derive our imagination from the things of the past. And the world started without money. People lived in small communities, exchange goods directly. Then some goods were becoming intermediaries between other goods. Afterward gold and other metals became something one could give to receive goods. Then gold-backed money, then fiat money. Now we have cryptocurrencies, and although it's not clear whether they are going to replace fiat everywhere, in a way Bitcoin is already money, at least in some cases. The future depends on how humanity lives. If we make our planet barely inhabitable or destroy each other in the Nuclear War, then 500 years from now people would probably exchange goods for goods. If we continue technological progress and prosperity, we might have some financial system embedded into our bodies or we might be digital along with the money.

You are wrong.Paper money aren't dying and bitcoin isn't taking over.Paper money are still dominating the economy and will continue to dominate for decades.Bitcoin/blockchain is an exciting innovation, but nobody knows how it will grow and improve in the near future. Will the governments and central banks embrace it?Will they ban it?
Nobody can tell you what will replace fiat/digital or crypto money.

Fiat currency will not necessarily be replaced by Crypto currencies, because the world are moving to a Cashless society, but within the domain and control of centralized entities and governments. We already have things like Debit cards and Credit cards and Tap2Pay technologies that are replacing Fiat currencies.

Crypto currencies will form a part of that disruption, but it will be "controlled" by governments and very wealthy corporations. The future payment methods would include things like "brain wave payments" or "verbal or voice recognition payments"   Wink

Good thought for the future. I will prefer we cross the bridge once we get there as the journey is yet still very far and funny enough we just set out for a long walk. Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are still under development, after full adoption and working we can then know where the next world is headed, for now, it's difficult to tell.

If bitcoin ever becomes the standard, then money will never go back to not being digital and money will never be under the control of the government again.

Same thing as information, once it went digital it is impossible for a government to try and control information, unless under extreme regimes (e.g. CN, NK).

If bitcoin becomes the standard, it will be very hard to replace it. But, it will only serve as a base layer, with our transactions being processed on layers 2+. The base layer will become exceptionally valuable, the block space extremely scarce, and fees will obviously reflect that.

I don't know what's the point of such questions. Because it's impossible to tell what will happen in future and we can only predict. And as said above, cryptocurrency is still on very early stage of adoption and there is no point to talk about replacement for it. We're still not even in digital era - paper cash is still big thing and not replaced by digital money, I'm not even talking about crypto.

As I believe, the "only permanent in this world is change" so there may not an end for Bitcoin but I am sure, the monetary system will continue to evolve.  This may also includes cryptocurrency being phased out by a different technology but it will be centuries before it happen.  As of now cryptocurrency is so young and had not reached its pinnacle of adoption and usage but once it did reached it, then the decline and a new monetary system will be introduced.

In the future, does the world accept Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies? Currently, less than 1% of people know about Bitcoin in the world. It seems that we only use Bitcoin to exchange profits and make it a payment method. Do you think Bitcoin can do more

You are thinking way ahead, crypto hasn't been adopted not even a single country yet. But since you ask I can give an idea which all that I can think of. In the future maybe a century later or two, few will be left after a war there will be scarcity of resources and we may not need money anymore since all are burglars and murderers. They won't think of BTC nor gold all they want is water and food.

Honestly, who can tell? We might just stop at cryptocurrencies. We might invent something even better. In the far future, we might not even need money. It can all get very sci-fi when you think about such things right now. Any guess that we could make right now is probably limited by the way we think in this day and age.
You're right, how can we possibly answer that if there are no assurance of the possible things that might happen. Bitcoin has faced a lot of problems and I don't think that it will end easily, it was able to give benefits and opportunities to us so if ever there is something new I still don't think it will change people's perspective. Well we have different thoughts about this and it depends on us if we are going to believe that kind of prediction.

It's hard to say things when you don't really know what will happen in the future. But let's assume. Let's assume that after bitcoin take over the world and became the primary currency, and you're asking what will come after bitcoin. If bitcoin would be replaced, then it's something more advance than bitcoin as you said hundred of years from now since technology that time would be really advanced and developed. I don't know... I'm probably dead before it even happens

lets be realistic instead of making assumption.
what bitcoin did was only to start a revolution. it literary changed the world. before bitcoin (pre-2008) people might have been able to only imagine currency being decentralized but after 2009 they didn't need to imagine it, the decentralized currency was a reality ever since.

i am really not interested in what might come along after a 100 years where i am no longer around! what i am interested in right now is this revolution and being a part of it.

I wouldn't look what's next about bitcoin until we haven't seen the world is taking advantage of its full potential. Adoption is imminent and we're far from seeing the whole world on it.

Everyone is still on the adjustment period but we'll see that day where everyone will start talking about bitcoin. We are going to the digital age and dollars might also be digitalized soon.

As days pass, the need keeps on growing. As a result we moved from stone age coins to traditional currency system. Further to cope with the growing population the traditional currency got integrated with electronic technology. This led to the growth of internet banking and other related services. Then on we've now got the technology backed cryptocurrency, hope there'll be advancement in the future.

We aren't even there yet. Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are still in their very early stages and we're already wondering what's coming next? Slow down. Tongue After bitcoin and cryptocurrencies becomes widely adopted, it will take time to replace cryptographic currencies. If anything, cryptocurrencies will most likely just be improved rather than replaced.
