Actually, I believe that, just as fiat currency will lose value during a world war, Bitcoin will do the same. I don't believe Bitcoin would collapse during a world war because, while fiat currency has lost value, it has regained it's worth after a while, and I believe the same will happen with Bitcoin because people fully trust BTC and it has been accepted in many areas throughout the world.
It depends on the scale of the spread of the world war and the weapons used in it, its destructive power and the duration of the impact on people and infrastructure. The Putin regime is now more and more driven into a corner, so they are already beginning to threaten the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine. If that happens, NATO has already said it will strike back. When it comes to survival, the cryptocurrency will lose its value as a means of payment. From my own experience, I will say that when Russian soldiers occupied part of Ukraine, the banking system did not work there, only cash was valued. Cryptocurrency was also not used. But if the war intensifies to such an extent that the existence of states becomes threatened, then cash will also lose its value, goods and products of prime necessity will be valued, and they will be exchanged more through barter.

We could see it sort of right now. I mean it will not do so well at first, because people will want cash at short term problems that is always a thing. You have to remember, investment is something you do for long term, you would want to buy a house, a car, a watch whatever and want to be rich.

But, if there are bombs coming to your city, you do not care about 10 years later, you do not care about lambo, you care about surviving. That only happens with cash and that is why during the short term of it people will cash out and the price will crash. However if it stops quickly, or goes too long, people go back to regular lives and the price will soar again.

In my opinion, a world war is literally the worst thing that can happen to humanity, with or without bitcoin.

This we never pray to reoccur again as the world will be put to ransom and even the bitcoin network will be affected because this is going to be a global crisis, bitcoin has also come to solve part of the problems that might be associated with WW III, aside the US dollars, bitcoin is also the most recognized decentralized digital currency that is not tie to any country or economy barriers.

In a war, the fiat loses its value. I had a discussion with a friend about what could happen to bitcoin in a war. He said that it will surely collapse. I am not so sure about it.

No amount of war can be able to collapse bitcoin into crashing, it can only affect the speculation on it price to run bullish or bearish, by then when every currency is sinking down with drop in value because of the economic situation of their region, Bitcoin tend to maintain it own as it is decentralized, only the mining of bitcoin along some exchanges that will be affected but that will not place a significant impact to it value.

History has shown that gold is the money that "reborns" fiat.

While another history is set to replace that with "bitcoin a gold rush" to effective economy.

as long as there is a war that causes damage to infrastructure especially those related to the internet, bitcoin cannot be used. especially if there are wars in all countries, of course the priority is food and safety for yourself, so as a people, you certainly don't think about assets. Even if they have assets, they will use them to migrate to a safe place or buy food for supplies. at that time it seemed that the main asset was food rather than bitcoin, food became gold

I don't think bitcoin will lose same value of fiat currency during war, why fiat currency will lose value is because is centralized but bitcoin can not lose it value during war because is decentralized currency, digital currencies remain valueless because it can not be controlled

When a world war happens, the amount of damage it causes to humanity varies, therefore we can expect significant effects on Bitcoin. In the event of a world war, some governments will use bitcoin as a payment option. I'm just assuming that if a world war occurs, people will find methods to exist without money, because what's the use of investing money if you can't cash it out during a chaotic scenario.
Yes. The longer the war the more damage it can deal to both the people and to bitcoin but the effect can be both negative and positive because you said governments will use bitcoin which is true, we saw that with Russia and Ukraine last time but before that happens the price will first fall because people might panic sell and people cant buy anymore during the war.
War always creates an imbalance in the economy and with the people's living conditions. Countries who used to supply weapons used to benefit whereas the buyer goes down. This war we've seen bitcoin being used for acquiring of weapons. When war happens unexpected bitcoin have served as a life saviour for many.
Money is not everything and when there is a war, people will always prioritize their lives first before anything. They can still survive though because there will be food donations that will come later on. The use of investing money is for future use and not really when there is a war because you can't use it yet.
Yes, people's first choice is survival. Even if you're taken as refugee by neighbouring countries you need to have something that secure one's future. This time many have realised and in a recent article read about a student in Ukraine managed to reach neighbouring country with his cryptocurrency holdings saved on an USB.

the war that occurred between Russia and Ukraine, I think it is not only bitcoin that is affected by the war, even a lot of the world's economy has been paralyzed due to the war between the two countries, especially since Russia is currently embargoing all their natural products with purchases made through foreign currency. Russian money certainly makes countries other ways will experience the same thing as is happening with bitcoin today

I'm sick and tired of hearing talks about war, ohh my GOD!!
Bit if one does happens, more like a nuclear war now with nuclear weapons, all of us won't be present to witness the usefulness of Bitcoin.
But then, there will sure be no bank's available to get fiat and the rest, look at the case at Afghanistan, now Russia invasion of Ukraine, bank's are no where to be found, Bitcoin will be use more for transportation, feeding, buying of arms, ammunition, gas etc to fun the war
At the end of the day if the war gets bad for a country, one can Also use Bitcoin to bribe one another.

That is if there will be another day after the war for us.  I'm sure the war back in Hitler times is different from the war that is coming. Mind you Russia or China and USA are the top player of this war.

They all have nuclear war heads that could melt us all down in less than a day if they all bombard each other from. The clouds will be filled with black clouds and the world will turn dark for weeks to months and we're all homeless while we feel the coldness as the doomsayers are saying. Not sure how true this is but this is horrifying when individuals starts killing each other for food. No BTC will ever be sent when that happen.

Bitcoin is now acceptable anywhere in the world, even if the government will intervene, they would think of banning it but the other part of the world would not do that because some countries have already legalized bitcoin.

For many of the world's citizen the monetary system has been faulty, as money is often unstable, the supply of which is being used at the behest of governments and central banks.

With bitcoin there is no central authority, it was created as a currency that the people can trust, one that is free from governments and banks, one that is accessible around the world.

More importantly, Satoshi achieved the possibility of a decentralized financial system that will not be affected by future government's policies or geopolitical struggles. As governments may be threatened with market meltdowns, and central banks may be forced to go for inflation, bitcoin will remain the pure form of money, and also a seizure-resistant, policy-independent, long-term store of value. The war between Ukraine and Russia contributed to that narrative.

Very important is that there will should not be a world war because this will disaster for humanity, in this modern age every big country has atomic power so nobody will see Bitcoin after war. Country can ban bitcoin cash out from crypto to fiat to don't have legal use. Most important we should try not to happen world war and bitcoin remain his respect as always.

Two years back this thread has been created. Now we've got the outcome, what happens when there happens a war. Though this isn't a world war, the involvement of majority of the countries have taken place in an indirect manner. We've experienced crash ofethe market and bounce back connected to the war incidents. Through war the usage for which bitcoin is being innovated by Satoshi have come true.

Through the Russia Ukraine war what all have happened.

Increased adoption in the global market.
Acceptance of Bitcoin as donation.
People used bitcoin against the Sanctions.
New trade patterns have got open.
The true need of renewable energy is realised.

We are all the pieces of what we remember.
I don't think a world war can happen. In any case, I do not think that this will be the time for crypto.
If you read the news especially from different sources, you can see how tense the relations between superpowers and rogue nations are one snap is all that it takes for a war to burst out. If ever a war was to break out, I don't think that bitcoin is going to be the first of the things we have to worry because war claims any lives it can get its hands on so your life is the priority more than bitcoin.

World War III will be a war of technology and nuclear, so if it happens it will bring the world back to the stone Age. Everyone's life may not be saved, not many people will survive. So currency and bitcoin or any other asset will no longer be a concern of people. Our lives come first.

Maybe the price would wobble and here is why.
1. Fund.
Funding=Rising or Raising/Support. It means that people would use their bitcoin to fund the war and it would get more valuable which means that the funding can help them to get more weapons for their soldiers.
2. Threats, Loses, & Violence
The most important are Threats and that would effect the Crypto economy and would make the price go down and the price would go down the most and it the price rising would become rarer if this happens a lot. There would also be a lot of violence all across the world and that would make people afraid and there would be a high chance of a market sell-off.

Hopefully there won't be another World War because we are all afraid of nuclear weapons.

In my opinion, a world war is literally the worst thing that can happen to humanity, with or without bitcoin.

Wars happen because countries can't pay up their debts, so they "pay up" this way. (Again, in my opinion, no misunderstandings)
In a war, the fiat loses its value. I had a discussion with a friend about what could happen to bitcoin in a war. He said that it will surely collapse. I am not so sure about it.

Although, think about it for a while. In a world war, the last thing someone has is access to the internet. Would bitcoins lose their value?

History has shown that gold is the money that "reborns" fiat. At least after a war. I would like to read some thoughts.

War is the disagreement between two communities in the national level more Countries in the international level. War is a very bad ominous scenario. In war, things are damaged and spoiled. But mostly things that are in the physical appearance.

Internet is invisible but the router and other devices that transmit network to the end users will be affected. At that time the network will be very weak or there will be no network in some places. Therefore, since Bitcoin is a digital currency not physical currency will be also affected because Bitcoin uses internet for it transactions of buying and selling.

The value of Bitcoin in the war might not reduce but the demand will be very high, because fiat currencies might not be circulated to everyone.. just like what happened in the Civid 19 pandemic. Most of the Banks in the world were shut down and people could not access their money at that time, people went to Bitcoin.

And also, the usege will reduce, because most of the internet facilities will be shut down.
