One of the first things a world war, especially in our time, will affect is the Internet. Whole countries will lose internet connection, rendering all currencies exchanged online worthless. But I don't think the blockchain will be damaged in any way since it's in a virtual platform. Its construction will only be delayed, so once the war is over and countries get back on their feet along with the Internet, I'm guessing we'll just have to pick up from where we left. Lucky are those who were able to store their coins in a hardware wallet.

The primary targets for countries usually contact centers and major cities. During the world war, almost all economic activity stops, and people seek refuge and go to countries not affected by war. Under such conditions, money doesn't make much sense. What can help them live are Gold, precious stones, diamonds? In this case, I don't think Bitcoin is any good for them.

In a world war, the last thing someone has is access to the internet. Would bitcoins lose their value?

It is not possible that all countries in the world would be at war so that in countries where there would be peace, people would continue to live their lives normally.

I'll give you an example:

In one of my country's provinces there is war, and if you look at the type of war in my country you would not be able to eat and sleep, war against terrorists Is the worst war that exists!

But even where there is war there is still communication and electricity, nowadays it is so evolved that even if there was war against aliens it would be possible to continue using bitcoin, the world today is different from the first and second world wars, times have changed a lot

In general, yes, the price should fall,

or maybe the price would go up, if we take into account that currently the technology is very advanced, it would not surprise me that in wartime they used bitcoin as a means of payment and I speak of war against aliens, because country war would not be possible to see all countries the world to engage in war

It is a world war so for sure, the value of bitcoin will fall but as they said it, a war is unlikely, near to impossible to happen especially these days. Bitcoin will surely plummet following the prices in the stock market but I think it will just go back in a certwin time since I think people would prefer to invest on it.

In general, yes, the price should fall, in the wake of the fall in financial markets and economies of developed countries. However, there is always a chance of a different outcome. For example, whales that hold most of the bitcoins can make certain moves, for example, by provoking a hold on the price and thereby encouraging people to buy bitcoin at an unstable time, and as a result, drop its price as they did before.

If the World War really happened, the economy would definitely be even more chaotic. And many rich people will try to keep their
wealth in safe assets. And Bitcoin is the right choice as a safe haven when the world war occurs, because Bitcoin prices will be
expensive. Apart from being a safe haven, Bitcoin is also likely to be used as a means of payment. Because its fiat value will
inevitably be destroyed, and many banks will not run, because there is a war going on. So Bitcoin is the best choice for payment,
people will choose to use Bitcoin to buy daily necessities, when the war really happens.

Well! God forbid that we see war, but I know it's just an illustration. If there be war it will take effect on bitcoin if it affects Internet at large. Since Bitcoin bus a digital currency, as long as internet still function and people still have a device to operate in different parts of the world,Bitcoin lives on.if the top officials who are helping in coordinating the smooth progress of bitcoin is affected, I think it may have an effect on the bitcoin for some times but successors will continue from there, I trust.

Food ,water, clothing, weapons, medicine and place to hide thats the most important thing that will matter for everyone when your
Community is being attacked and Bombed, you will not care for everything but your life, this is the saddest that World war can bring.
But of course there are still people that will accumulate resources like Gold and maybe Bitcoin.
and also yeah there might be a temporary shutdown of transactions but once the war is over?
Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies will return.
Well, this is the nearest answer I ever heard when there is a world war again. People will not think about digital money since perhaps all electrical powers will corrupt including the internet. So, it would be they will more likely money is not important because you cant even exchange this into food if everything was closed due to the war. Bitcoin also perhaps will be affected, you cant even exchange into fiat and I don't think if it will remain valuable into the market, -- no one will perhaps do a transaction during the war. My answer is technically affected.

In my opinion, a world war is literally the worst thing that can happen to humanity, with or without bitcoin.

Wars happen because countries can't pay up their debts, so they "pay up" this way. (Again, in my opinion, no misunderstandings)
In a war, the fiat loses its value. I had a discussion with a friend about what could happen to bitcoin in a war. He said that it will surely collapse. I am not so sure about it.

Although, think about it for a while. In a world war, the last thing someone has is access to the internet. Would bitcoins lose their value?

History has shown that gold is the money that "reborns" fiat. At least after a war. I would like to read some thoughts.

As we can see from the current situation in Belarus, the Internet can be turned off by one movement. If you are restricted in movement and borders are closed to immigration, then you will not have access to your wallet, and especially to transactions. It is likely that the value of bitcoin will fall significantly, as mining will become very expensive and rare.

World war!!! Do you really think that it is possible to have another world war? Well,if ever it will happen, I think even internet connection will be destroyed and the bitcoin will lost it's value because how can people use it with out internet connection. Also  if ever people will become panic and focus to the world war on how to survive from death then I think they will not give attention to bitcoin.

Interesting discussion, I can't help to write down my comment  Smiley

First should separate world war to the end of the world. Reading some of the comments some look they're writing about the end of the world.

Ok, should focus on a world war. Historically on WW Two the stock market, at least on USA, didn't stop (on WW One it just stoped for 5 months aprox). In fact that was a great time to invest once nazis started to loose. So, Bitcoin as any other asset sure it would continue to operate! Why shouldn't it?

Do you think internet would be in danger? Absolutely not! Without internet probably WW3 would be nonsense. Satellytes, communications, everything would be finished !. So probably the end of internet would mean the end of the war, and the end of society as we know it today. There's a bizarre image on some news when we see on TV rescues of migrants on the Mediterraneum. People starving on a boat, covered by blankets and wearing their mobiles. Nowadays we couldn't live without internet, neither war, neither bitcoin.

Regarding internet probably some governments would censor and/or cut communications. In that case, worst case scenario, we couldn't trade with our bitcoins. But bitcoin would prevail as any other asset. And probably would rocket because of its inherents values. Decentralization, scarcity

We don't actually know what could happen to the bitcoin when World War happened but for sure it will have a huge effect on the market and on bitcoin.

In my opinion, at times of war transactions are important since it would be needed to purchase firepower, but not actually sure since there are so many currencies that could be used at this point aside from bitcoin. Money is important if you want to be protected. Or in the times of war bitcoin could easily be useless since most of the time it is all about surviving and it might affect bitcoin market price making it useless in some countries. But I guess it depends on what situation the war would make to the world.
I don`t think it would an advantage for bitcoin when there is a world war. It might be used in purchasing or transacting but probably, economy will fall. As a result, most of the companies will not be able to run. Many businesses will shutdown and cryptocurrency as well as stocks will be affected. In the end, there is no good that world war brings to the world aside from depopulating and fighting the individual rights and wants. Bitcoin will probably fall because investors are fear to trap in a falling world economy.

Still agree with just like what I said we don't know what could actually happen when the world war started, but since bitcoin is a world currency there is still some possibility that bitcoin could be used.

But in my opinion, what's going to happen is everything is going to be a focus on the war, and then every other thing could be useless, that might happened to bitcoin because I think surviving is the most important thing in a war.

If there’s a war my only concern is to survive along with my family, I don’t care much about money if the war begins because its really frustrating to see the world slowly falling apart. Bitcoin can survive because it works digitally, but the unsure thing here is the users of bitcoin either we survive or we suffer.

First of all you'd have to define how you understand a world war. For instance, in WW2 not all countries were affected. For instance North and South America and Canada were untouched. If they had the ability to run the Internet at that time it would work just like before the war.
Gold used to be the go to store of value because there was no computers and no Internet in the last wars. Now you can have Internet and a Bitcoin wallet in your phone and you don't need every single antenna standing. If you go out of range you can move near a working antenna.

If it happens to be a nuclear war we'll have no need for Bitcoin anymore.

It is quite difficult to predict what will happen to bitcoin in the event of a world war. It should be assumed that there will be, to one degree or another, no Internet access at the site of hostilities, and there may be no electricity, which will make it extremely difficult to use any means of electronic communication, including electronic currencies. Will it rise or fall? Depending on the global nature of the conflict, after all, other countries, in particular, the aggressors will not have problems connecting the network. At the same time, countries suffering from aggression will receive infusions through cryptocurrency, which can increase the price.

Bitcoin is a decentralized coin and it has a great value. Some government will use bitcoin as their payment method at the time of world war. But it is sure that bitcoin will lose its price randomly.
That's a simple truth. During the war, things often go worse and bad news always fly across boards which will affect the war zone economy. Bitcoin price during war will surely go red IMHO, even though the internet won't be affected in the process. Another opinion is, the countries that are into war can also have a significant influence on it price. If the country at war adopt it use among it citizens the price must enter dip but if the country is not Bitcoin friendly price will be positive.
Looks like you have a completely different concept of war, if there is a world war there is no doubt that the economy will be in trouble, first any country will try to disrupt is the communication sector and that includes internet and the power grids along with military targets, so if you think that during a war the internet will be working fine, then you are foreseeing a different war altogether  Tongue.

Another misconception is that some country needs to adopt bitcoin, it is the individual investors along with the big financial institutions that determines whether bitcoin can be a safe heaven and not the government.

I believe that when a world war occur Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies would be worthless since nobody would care about it I also think that Fiat would also be destroyed.
We would be back on trading with what we could use all the other currencies would be worthless we would strive to live and money couldn't do anything about it.
But I could also be wrong all of this is just my opinion.

That is far from my imagination, but if the world war happens, the telecommunication will be the first target because they can get every information from other agents, even if the information is using an encrypted data.

But for bitcoin, I think the network can still running because I think there will be a server node that will operate in the countries which are not involved with the world war. But if the world war involves all countries, it can shut down the network or sabotage the network. I don't know for sure about that because I don't expect to see the world war. But we really don't know.
