Those are greed experience mate. Your not supposed to lose the value if you sell already during ICO. Well speaking for myself, I had some also, but not gonna blame you cause majority have these kind of mistakes before. But of course that was few years so definitely something must change and improve with regards to encounter like now. I do hope you already learn that hard lesson and reflect from it.

2017 indeed is a different era from now and hopefully you did change now.

There are two things that made me have a bad experience in the cryptocurrency world. the first was when I got a scam. well, this almost seems to be owned by cryptocurrency users. another thing is, selling assets at the wrong time. the point is, I sold all the assets that I had held for years, but after selling them, the price went up considerably. well, it's like a nightmare.

My worst experience in crypto is I trusted too many projects way back then promising it could go to moon in few years most of those projects were dead now. Another one is I sold LEND very cheap I could already be a millionaire now. But its okey sometimes we need to experience these things to become better investors.

My worst experience on crypto was on year 2017 when i was newbie  and bought a scam token. I did'nt buy on ICO stage but i buy the token after it was listed on exchange. I saw the price was dropping and in my mind this is the best time to buy. Yes i bought the token because of hype and didnt do any research thinking the price will go up after few weeks or months but what happened is the price did'nt rise and did'nt give me chance to sell my token until now and the token was dead.

many of us did that because we thought there is a chance of the price to bounce up again. sadly the volatility sets in and then gradually the team turned scam. 2017 is the ICO craze. some of the tokens actually that went up that time are still alive today but some end up dead already. nobody even tried to file a case against them for they use fake profiles. holding a token is the worse that I've done.

I have a lot of bad experience with cryptocurrency over the past years, and the most unforgettable one is when I got scammed for the very first time. I believe on sending ETH and and will received a higher amount in return, later on I found out that its just a scam and I did lose my money.

I believe those bad experiences made me a better investors in a world of cryptocurrency, I guess this is a must to experience for every newbies so you wont lose more along the road, so its better to lose at the early stage. Don’t just give up easily when you fail, just keep on trying.
Everybody got scammed for at least 1 time. I have never seen anyone who do not lose their money to the other when they first joined the cryptocurrency world. And you are correct, those experience make us better and improve our sense. We are more aware of danger and cyber thieves.

The worst experiences in the crypto space are endless. I will list a few.
1. First, transaction fees on Ethereum are too high and not suitable for everyone. It's like Ethereum was created for the rich to use them.
2. Fraud in P2P transactions. There have been many scams happening, FIAT depositors falsified deposit invoices with photoshop, some used dirty money to transact, some merchants refused to unlock the cryptocurrency they sold to others in a transaction. In a way, the P2P market is getting worse.
3. Value manipulation with scam IDO projects, ICOs has decreased but still exists and harms the community.
4. Elon Musk is making Dogecoin-related tweets and that is costing many derivatives market participants a lot of money.

One of my worst experiences was sending 2 eth to fomo on a new project without taking the time to read everything that was written.

So I sent 2 eth ($ 250 each at the time) from binance to the given address. And AFTER I read the little lines  Grin . It was clearly explained that it was important not to deposit funds from an exchange in which case the funds would be lost forever (because not identifiable and traceable to you).

1. Buy high, sell low and underestimate the real situation.
2. Keep bad quality and worthless coins and sell money of lasting value.  That is the most ironic and unfortunate thing that I have come to realize after a long time.  In fact, these damaging mistakes were partly due to being unable to bear the mentality myself and it was a real regrettable loss.
I have that experience in the past because I do not have many skills in analyzing.
I still think that I need to learn more about trading, and I think I can analyze the coin even if that does not have 70% get the high peak if the price increases.
Buying the wrong coin will be the worst experience on crypto that I already had until now because I lack analyzing the coin, but that does not make me stop to analyze because I am sure that I need more learn and more practice in analyzing the coin.

The Worst Experience ever that happens to me on crypto was Hacked Ethereum Address, I lost 5 ETH + 400 Uniswap from my personal address and it was around $3000 when it was hacked. You can see more details here; https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.53734483

Not sure if that was malware or anything but here an advice from me, Never expose your private key anywhere, Save your Private key on Paper or user hardware wallet. Never install any shady apps or anything, Another one was buying Shitcoin and trapped on Pump & Dump Scheme (Yobit) Always do deep research on every project that you want to invest or trade, Stay Safe!

I was remembered when I started exploring this forum, way back 2017 when I start joining bounties and trying other way to earn crypto currency, but unfortunately because of excitement and nervous in applying to bounty campaign I accidentally paste my private key instead of my eth address then, I can't erase the record after i noticed that made mistake; and that my worst experience in the crypto currency because of that I lost more or less 20k Usd because of ignorance and lack of patience.

Because of those things I decided to be more careful because what will happen tomorrow if depends on what we are doing now.

many traders also make mistakes like you. I also sold some of my assets at a lower price than my purchase price when I ended up needing money and making a withdrawal.
I have benefited from BTT but I am sorry for AOA. this is indeed bad and there must be regrets.

I believe every thing you listed can happen to a Newbie in cryptocurrency trading and this exact things happened to me back in the same year  Grin No Joke when I just came into crypto trading around July when the Bulls was just picking off and all my trades where profitable and dint know at the time that there was going to be a Bear market and that I should take my profits at the high.
I believe it was later Back in 2018 I lost $500 to a project (TRAW) I will call Scam cos the Dev after collecting monies from investors eventually abandon project. Most times newbies make all this mistakes but not now anymore for me though.

I don't know if this is the worst but one of my mistakes that I've done and the same as the others when they've held a lot of bitcoins and sold it at a cheap price.
Everyone can relate with that experience and too bad I have to sell during the bear market because I ran out of cash by that time. That's why as much as possible, keep on stacking sats.

@poster, the same thing has happened to me a couple of times in different ways though, like in 2016, I invested in a coin, the price of the coin rose to a very good amount of money but greed set in, I wanted it to go up more, it definitely went up more, and I wanted it to go up even more and more,, long story short, a coin I would have sold and made like $2300 dollars, I ended up making below $ 100 dollar when I later sold them, it was a very painful experience for me, I cried any time I imagined how much I would have made if only I wasn't too greedy, if only i sold at the peak when my spirit was telling me to, but I refused to listen... But anyways, it's a story now

My worst experience so far in crypto was also my very first one. I joined the crypto world back in august 2017 and the first investment i made back then was into the ICO of DimCoin. I was still at university back then and of course being completely new to crypto every $ that i invested was FIAT from my bank account. To make a long story short the project was pretty much a scam and of course everything i invested was lost.  Cry Thank god i only invested 150$ back then. Others of course invested several thousand $ which they lost. Dimcoin collected 14M$ with their ICO so a massive amount of money was lost in total.
Thankfully i was not deterred by this first bad experience in the crypto world and i sticked around.  Smiley

Hello,

Excluding the Bounty campaigns I've been involved in for months and then it turns out to be a scam and we don't get any tokens, I have another bad experience, similar to yours, even a little worse.

I had about 130 K tokens, I don't remember how much they were when it was time to sell them and then I forgot about them for a few years and when I checked them again later, it turned out that the project was already dead - so I couldn't get even $ 1 of them.

But I think everyone in the crypto world has encountered more or less similar problems!

My worst experience was in 2018 when I was new in crypto Business and had no idea of scams in this industry so I had to pay huge cost of my ignorance when I subscribed  many ICOs with the hope that i will book good profit in these tokens and paid them huge amount of Ethereum but unfortunately  most of them never saw the light of the day turned up as scams. Some of them never sent any coins in ETH wallet and those who sent were worthless because they never got listed on exchanges.
