In my opinion, they should do tests before giving someone weapon license. Because there is a case like Eliot Rodger's one, I mean how can you let a mentally disturbed guy own a gun?

They went a step beyond that in Arizona and some other States. In AZ you don't even have to have a license for concealed carry.

In the U.S. there is testing for everything.

If a person does poorly enough on tests in high school, they are given a rifle and sent to kill dark skinned people in other countries.

When they get back, they are given an intelligence test. Those that score low enough are given badges and additional weapons.  http://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/09/nyregion/metro-news-briefs-connecticut-judge-rules-that-police-can-bar-high-iq-scores.html

I am of the view that not everyone should have access to a gun, not everyone is mentally sound enough to have a gun and people who have committed serious offenses should not be allowed to have access to weapons n

And who gets to judge that someone is too mentally ill to own a gun? A liberal shrink? Just by calling out Liberals as gun control shills is enough for some of them to declare someone mentally ill.

The theme of weapons of artificially thrown into the society by politicians to divert attention to the poor efficiency of police work and the split in the society on a very important issue. If you compare statistics on the number of dead people in car accidents then it will be much more than those killed in all mass shootings, but anybody in a head does not come to prohibit the use of cars.

It is true, that not everyone should have access to weapons, because there is a lot of misuse of weapons, but there are many black markets that can provide weapons without permission

The thing is, that you can use automobile or hammer as lethal weapon too. The former is actually more effective than mere handgun.  Wink Even you voting right can be used as weapon.

Merely banning everything, that is potentionally dangerous is not really doing society service. By depriving people of their choice to do good, you are in effect dehumanizing them.

I am not against all regulation, but people need to be able to make their own choices. Self defense included.

I support freedom of gun ownership. At home I have an AK-47, but I only shoot at targets. Why should I risk my life because several times a year a weapon falls into the hands of inadequate people. Besides, this happens in gun free zones. Maybe before we fight with the weapons easier to try to get rid of gun free zones.

Do you have any family left? Just joking.     Grin

I agree. If he is not mentally sound enough to want a gun, the most serious of offenses, why force it on him? Let others protect him. But if they fail... oh well. We all die sometime.

Without guns there's nothing to depend yourself, in terms of self-defense Smiley

Hand-held, battery pack powered, microwave blasters can easily be built out of microwave ovens with a few simple tools.

I think that weapons should not be available for purchase. Let him be worn only by special services. I would not like to think that other people carry weapons with them

How do you even define weapon? Is knife a weapon? Or hammer? Wooden replacement shaft for an axe or shovel? All of those things could kill you in right hands.

If we are talking firearms, their only major advantage is that they negate physical inequality between attacker and defender. Do you understand why is that important? That even woman or cripple is able to fend off attackers?

Btw. energy based weapons are still unpractical and uneconomical, its simple to buy a gun on black market, then start home build of gauss gun. But they do exist, can be made in garage and are quite lethal:

Far more simple and also mostly unregulated is converting existing air guns to fire arrows. Effectively turning them into repeating harpoon guns.

Concealed Carry Soars 214%, Violent Crime Drops 21%

In addition to being history's greatest gun salesman, Barack Obama did the best job of convincing John Q. Public there really is a need for concealed carry. John Q. paid attention and turned out by the thousands. Also under Obama's watch the last two concealed carry hold-out states – Wisconsin and Illinois – passed laws permitting residents to carry a concealed firearm.

Of course, the Birkenstock Brigade fought it in both states warning of dire consequences, casually ignoring the other 48 states not experiencing any problem with concealed carry permit holders. So far, no blood running in the streets, no concealed carry permit holder shooting someone over a parking space or any of the other dire warnings that were issued by Democrats prior to the law's implementation. What did happen is John Q. turned out in droves and signed up for concealed carry.

According to a recent article in Breitbart, concealed carry permits rose 215 percent between 2007 and 2015, and the murder rate dropped 14 percent during that same time period. Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) data shows there were 14.5 million permit holders in May 2016 and approximately 15.7 million in May 2017.

In the CPRC's latest annual report which covers 2015, it notes the number of concealed handgun permits issued that year set another record, an increase of 1.73 million permits issued, slightly higher than the previous record of 1.69 million. Currently, about 6.06 percent of the approximately 248 million adults in the U.S., have a concealed carry permit.

I am for limited weapon control. Human being must have the opportunity to protect his life and his/hers family members lives. For this purpose are well suited electric shockers, traumatic pistols and such tools. We are not on wild west and the idea that every has the right to protect itself with a gun on my opinion became old. Too many crazy humans lives today and handing them pistols is bad idea.

Your argument fails because the crooks do not care about gun laws. 99.99% are law abiding and if their are restrictions on gun ownership the crook has an advantage. If I want to own a machine gun I should be able to.

Here is the one that I want:

I certainly did not expect such a firearm, Which will allow citizens to protect their house individually. Which automatic caliber machine guns can be better installed in the attic of their home and then even the police will not do. New life like the picture Although the implementation of such ideas never happens

Guns are made for one purpose, and that purpose is to kill.
I believe that guns are not weapons, they are tools. How they are used is up to the person holding it.
Guns are especially dangerous in the hands of people who don't know how to use them (i.e., kids and teenagers) as well as those who are mentally ill and/or have a temper problem.
Gun control will not stop violence because a violent person doesn’t need a gun to be violent.
After the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, support for gun control increased dramatically.

Generally in America, the support for gun control has outweighed the support for gun rights.
Are gun control laws constitutional?
What would be your ideal set of laws regarding firearms?

Like anything, the relevant part is where you place responsibility.

Is it 'the government', some vague abstraction, that is responsible for how guns are handled?

The only place you will find that guns are a menace is a place where the responsibility for how weapons are handled is shifted away from the person who has the weapon.

If it is honest to such a country is very urgent The question of the availability of weapons from citizens of the country. In that every year there is an action of voluntary surrender of weapons unregistered and each time it is necessary to collect very much but a lot of different firearms.

Are you afraid that your neighbor is going to be smart enough to build one, while you are not? Make sure that he is armed with guns so that his focus will not be on the microwave thing.
