I use Bitcoin-Qt + Armory. It's the only approach I've tried, and it seems OK. I picked it because I felt it important not to depend on other people's copy of the block chain. I don't use cold storage yet, but I'm glad it's available. I use DropBox for off-site wallet backups, and also have a copy on a micro-SD card that I carry with me.

BitcoinQT and Mycelium. BitcoinQT out of tradition and Mycelium because it handles well spending from paperwallets. Evangelizing Bitcoin by tipping people with paperwallets and not having a good way to redeem paperwallets other than Mycelium pretty much forces me to this. Hear blockchain.info would work, too.

Blockchain is very good too. But online wallets are not so good as offline for me.

bitcoind. Because I think everyone should use a full node and because I'm a linux terminal weirdo.

Smiley I like " I'm a linux terminal weirdo "  what color is your terminal? Smiley Black & white or Black & Green?

Blank & pink. You know, HK likes pink stuff.

Every time I see your username, I think of that alcohol commercial that used to be on every 5 minutes... "I'll have a Disoranno...on the rocks"

bitcoin-qt  Grin

I encrypt wallet.dat w/15 character password using qt and have many backups

Best backup is a paper backup I guess.

All hdd and usb drivers might fail Smiley paper might burn Tongue but what is more realistic? Smiley

And you could be hit by a car tomorrow, or you might die in your sleep Cheesy If your paper wallet, stored in your desk, burns then your pc and whole house will probably go with it.
Only thing you can be sure of is a brainwallet. The question is, what if you have a stroke or something and forget?

Same here.

This is good method and propably one of the best.

So if someone is looking for BEST option around - this is it I guess.

I use litecoin qt for my LTC, but I haven't used the bitcoin qt, I will probably end up using it for a portion of my holdings, but I am impatient with downloading the entire blockchain..

Some kind of M of N scheme is probably the best. It protects against theft and destruction if done properly.

Perhaps right. But it might not work for all of us.

Bitcoin-Qt and Armory. Also, Mycelium.

I like to run a full node for the network. I like to feel comfortable with my security. Also, I like convenience when dealing with small amounts.

blockchain.info is really good as your hot wallet

for medium term funds I'd use paper wallets or 1 time brain wallets with pass-phrases (1 on your desk, 1 local backup, 1 cloud backup)

for long term funds cold storage, there is some guides like here http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinWallet/comments/1p6y5c/secure_paper_wallet_tutorial/

I use Bitcoin-Qt + Armory because I like to have paper backups of my wallets, and because I like to have the blockchain locally.

If I were to use a online wallet I would use blockchain.info because Andreas M. Antonopoulos works there.
