I am considering looking into these small startup coins with masternodes. I don't really want to invest any more than $1500 for a masternode though for a startup coin
Except already existed and well-proven coins, I think it's necessary to pay attention to the new, only starting projects in spheres where blockchain technology will be really demanded such as real estate or computer games.
I think Bitcoin because Bitcoin has gain very high popularity because of being first in market but also facing a tough competition as well because alot of Altcoin are now in the market.
Bitcoin has market cap of $49,945,987,442 right at present with circulating supply of 16,567,262 BTC. with these figures I think has good future.

At the current prices the best coins to pick are PTOY, BAT, CVC, NEO & ETH. Also waves for sure

normally the coin who had lack of interest more likely to dumped and eventually those coins will not survive and have not good future so maybe the coin who will survive in the future is the coin who makes people more interest to trade with huge volume support for each days will survive but regarding which coin it is i think very difficult to know but major altcoin such as Doge, ETH or maybe LTC had potential to survive
Maybe for me, bitcoin is still an investment destination in the future and there are some Altcoins that i think have good chance to keep growing, for me the most dominant Eth and Waves continue to grow next year after several ICO projects that use their platform ends.
If you hold for a long time you will buy Bitcoin,Eth & waves.At present you will buy Mobilego(mgo).It is pumping very soon.Also you can hold longtime mgo.

Well, you can surely count in Bitcoin, ETH, BTS, steem etc. But most other coins are more speculative than the actual useful. Like NEO, it might also turn profitable, since his developer has made many successful projects like Bitshares and Steem.
ETH will bee second coins after btc and for sure will have great future
all coins have potential to grow but it depends when they will get popular ..
if many of investors go with for example ETH which is doinf great for now the popularity and trust in investing and creating these is growing up..

I think its not a question of names but general direction of development for each particular coin.
IMHO something that solves 51% problem is a good thing.
Something with fast transactions is a good thing.
I think IOTA will be very interesting coin to watch.

I don't have any idea right now about altcoins since i'm still a beginner in this business. I'm here to read comments about altcoins that I can use in the future. One thing that I know is bitcoin has a high value if you will convert it to any other currency that's why I'm so much interested and wanted to earn money using bitcoin.

I think Ethereum is number one on my list because it is used as a platform for many ICO's and is next to bitcoin. It has no max coin limit so price could be much higher in the future. Another coin would be bitcoin cash despite its bad reputation being a clone, I still think its worth holding.
I always choose altcoin from ICO projects as these are new markets and there are always many potential investors involved in these markets. Especially altcoin OMG, ADX, MCO,PAY,CVC,.. it was pumping very well in a short time
