As most of the people think the same for the start its better work with BTC. I also start trading buy buying BTC and ETH then more you learn you can easily decide to exchange your BTC or ETH other coins. What i can suggest more learn more about crypto wallets before you buy anything specially "how you will secure your funds".

I would invest half of that money to bitcoin then the other half to litecoin, eth, exrn and xrp. For the latter coins, it doesn't matter how you allot your investment since all of them (except exrn) are pretty decent projects which have been in this space for a long time.

Ive never bought any coins before and am considering opening an account while the coins are low

How would you invest $1000 - 2000

Thanks
As a beginner you must study first the market and look for the coin that can help you to earn profit, well it depends on you but for me bitcoin is the coin that can help you as a beginner. During this time that bitcoins price isn't rising you can take this opportunity to invest and choose what kind of investment its either long term or short term investment.

In my opinion, a beginner should start with a more stable coin such as bitcoin, ethereum, bitcoin cash and litecoin. These coin are established in the cryptocurrency space and are relatively stable compared to new tokens and ICO's offers which are more risky and could become shit coin, if abandoned by the project

For a beginner who have zero knowledge about cryptocurrency should go for Ethereum and bitcoin for investment and maybe after knowing much about cryptocurrency then you can later decide to build your own crypto portfolio and add other altcoins from top 10- 100.

For those who are new to this market, it is best to choose BTC and ETH investments, and you can also choose some altcoin in the top 20 in coinmarket to be able to invest. Because these are the best altcoin and you don't need to be afraid when prices fall too deep or scam

For me, the best altcoin to buy at this current market condition would be Ethereum. Its price is so affordable right now and I'm sure it will give you good profits at the future because there are so many projects that are using its own platform and also because of the upcoming fork which is the Constantinople.

I suggest that beginners invest only in the top five coins in a coinmarket, because in my opinion the top five coins have little risk for beginners to gain experience.

As a beginner, I'll stick with BTC before digging around for some other coins. With the number of coins available, it's difficult which one to get.

I suggest you to start with Binance coin - BNB, because it is one of most stable alt coins on the market.
You will have time to learn market  fluctuations without the stress of big loses or gains.

I only made several purchases of ethereum, dogecoin and litecoin, I did it because I wanted to use it as a transaction fee, I was only a bounty hunter so compared to buying I searched and sold coins more often, if only I had money I would also invest and trade

As a beginner, you should go for the finest coins in the market. And there's only coin that I can suggest you which is good for all of the beginners and that's no other than bitcoin. I think you already know about bitcoin.
And invest that amount if that's the most affordable amount you are willing to lose. I'm saying this for you to understand that this is a risky market but I'm glad to know that you see opportunity on this bear.

You can start to invest in the major coin and it much better for you to go there because it gives you less risk. You must remember to buy the coin which was having a real product. Binance coin should be a good choice for you dude remember about it was getting a gradual increase on its price.

I think the best strategy for your capital is investing in the most popular and less risky coins. You can find them on coinmarketcap. In top 30 cryptocurrencies from the list.

If I were in your place and I really wouldn’t have any experience in the ability to choose good projects, then maybe you should invest in your Etheera project. The tokens of this Swiss project are one of the most profitable investment projects and they have proven themselves very well over the past half year.

First and foremost you should have some bitcoins. It doesn't matter how much money you got at least half of your portfolio should be bitcoin. Once you got that you can think about altcoins and the more well known the better. Most new coins are scams or pump and dump schemes. You can get lucky or you can lose everything. Bitcoin is one of the coins that are destined to rise again and if it goes up it will take all top altcoins up with it.
