As a beginner, I will suggest that you invest in established coin like Btc and Ethereum, when have enough knowledge of the crypto market, then you can research a good coin to invest yourself.
for beginners, Bitcoin is the best investment. you'd better put 50% of your money on Bitcoin. the rest can invest in some ICO. such as eqwity. it allows investors to easily enter the STO market.

the best explanation about that is, because bitcoin sometimes becomes a glass for other altcoins. sometimes price increases start from increasing bitcoin, or information about it. because of that, having a few bitcoins will be good for beginners.
But the whole scene is revolving all over bitcoin, it's not just sometimes that when the price of bitcoin starts to increase alts will do. No, it has always been the post of the cryptocurrency market. All of the altcoins are depending to bitcoin's status.

I will recommend some coins that I mainly use, but please be notified that these coins are good for trading, these are TRX, STRAT, NEO, BNB, USDT there, you can still earn allot but I recommend that you utilize your 1000-2000 dollar even way better through trading and not just holding it.

At this stage I have no idea about investment if you have much more amount to invest take some time to think about which is the best and research for some time to clear about what we are going to do with investment and how can we get the profit from that in the future and don't make investment in a single way split into them multiply.
Just choose any coin in the top 10 or top 20 list for your investment and research for a while. And if you can accept the risk about the price can down in anytime or up in anytime, then you can choose every coin in that list. But don't greedy to make a bigger profit in this situation because of it still difficult to see the price will increase higher later. So when you see the candle can show the green, then you can prepare to sell the coin to take your profit.
You can invest your money at ethereum because only ethereum could be potential investment not only short term but could be for long term, you can make ethereum as your future asset investment, you can hold for long term to get much profit.
I think that all coins are the same, whether to invest for beginners or those who have already plunged before, all you have to pay attention to is before you buy a coin to invest you must be able to analyze whether the coin has good potential or not, you can see it in the list the best altcoin, don't let you choose coins because of course the losses that you will get in the future

There are no coins for beginners. Because crypto everyone is of course the same. The difference is those who have large funds and little funds. Look for coins that you think have a great potential in the future to make a profit.
