I think we don’t need a new king at the moment. The market is too young, still. So i think it needs to settle a little bit more. After that, maybe there might be a better coin in future. But this probably won’t be so soon.
I think bitcoin will last for a long time to become king, it's hard to replace bitcoin with other coins because the number of active bitcoin users is the biggest, especially when bitcoin is used as a price benchmark for Altcoins.
Maybe in the distant future bitcoin will give way to the championship, but today and at least another 5-10 years bitcoin will be the first.In order for Ethereum to become the first,we need very large investment projects,while they do not exist,maybe 2019 will change something, we need to wait and then see.
There won't be any other king besides Bitcoin, it is the first crypto currency, no one will replace it's position. It still need some upgrades for the betterment of its technology.
It is now very clear that for years to come BTC will still remain the king, ETH recent fall in price and XRP overtaking ETH to reach second position earlier last week shows that the new king is the existing king which BTC.

well bitcoin acts like it will never loose its place in crypto market. but i dont think it is possible. bitcoin is already old and there are already a few better blockchain solutions. i think in mid term ethereum can be the new king.

I predict Stellar will be something BOOM in the next future, you see the price is quite cheap today. EOS also. EOS has the lowest cost. It's better than ethereum. This is for me.

I think you should not treat the bitkoyn and ether so badly. As if you want to erase them from the crypt world. In my opinion, let all currencies from the crypt world live and grow. After all, it's a bogeyman for the fact that the crypt is a decentralized system in which there are no taxes. Only you have to pay for gas.

We cannot predict the situation or decide because in this era Bitcoin and Ethereum is in the mainstream and that 2 crypto was the King and Queen. We need more productive project or much fame to remove them/BTC/ETH to their status. The only thing that I've know it will be rise again and again and never stop. I think the high charges associated with transaction fees cut across all cryptocurrencies. Hence, that alone should not be a good enough reason for Altcoins to take advantage and over throw Bitcoin from its current position. if you ask me, i do not see any Altcoin ever taking over Bitcoin position either in a long term or short term period. Bitcoin will remain king fro now till God knows when.
guys calm down, the king will always be alone and this is Bitcoin. what kind of new king can there be if the capitalization of bitcoin is more than 50% of the market. The remaining coins are not even close to the etherium.
Even though many potential altcoins are coming out in the market who that wants to replace bitcoin,but no one else can replace to the king of all crypto coins,because Bitcoin is the most famous and the pioneer of all coins.
I think they can always try and they will be trying. Of course not many coins can actually achieve it, but I think with time some intrigue can be introduced by having more strong coins around.
I think that the next king is ETH. Because this coin is known all over the world. Thus, this coin is always the king of cryptography.

Personally, I think that there are no competitors for Bitcoin and Ether. They will always lead the list of the best and most popular tokens in the crypto currency market.
I like competition, always welcome it, competition is good. And I think that there should be a strong competition otherwise the products get stale and stagnation begins, nobody wants that. I believe that BTC and ETH will shine brighter against the backdrop of other coins. 
It hard to predict who will be the king, especially if we are talking about the future. We all knew that nobody knows what will happen tomorrow, though from 2009 up the present Bitcoin prevails among the top in crypto currencies. So, I could say in our time now Bitcoin was always leading at the top. But crypto was really a big help to anyone, because through this we can have a chance to have bitcoin without giving any investment in the altcoins. Like in joining in bounty campaign project they have in this forum.
Personally, I think Ethereum is the main competitor to this place. Many people like it. And many think so. He still surpasses bitcoin in many cases.
