I'm sure that ethereum is the new king, with lots of support from various devs. then the big increase of ethereum will easily happen, this is what makes us have to be eager to buy ethereum because it will be an expensive coin.
I support the opinion of people who say that there will not be any new king, because BTC is the legitimate king and leader of the international currency industry and he is the founder of all the crypto-currency space.
Now the mainstream currency, BTC-ETH, has the upper hand, and they have the strength and technology, but the future is likely to be a new project to replace them more mature and more comprehensive. What do you think it would be?
I can't exclude any possibility, personally. Time goes on and technology doesn't stop where it is. A decade ago nobody knew about cryptos, now it's all the hype. So I believe in a few years from now we will have something new. But it doesn't mean something good should go, like BTC or ETH. These will stay on. 
Even though many potential altcoins are coming out in the market who that wants to replace bitcoin,but no one else can replace to the king of all crypto coins,because Bitcoin is the most famous and the pioneer of all coins.
I certainly have suggestions. But I'm afraid now to predict something. After the collapse of the price of the Ether. It's hard to be sure who will be the next challenger. Therefore, we will see.
Ethereum always comes after bitcoin, they are rival, but to the point when we are thinking who will be the king, it sounds so desperate like we are always wanted to make bitcoin in the second place, but trust me, bitcoin will not, because if that is going to happen, then it would happened already a very long time ago, however, the truth is they just can't overcome the superiority of bitcoin amongst all of the coins here in the cryptocurrency world.

Guys, king is nothing... For me, the king that you say is not a totally a king of crypto currency. The real king is you, cause those altcoins that you mention is only a part or I mean a tool of the real king which is those altcoin's users. You are the main character why the crypto is created so don't let altcoin will manage your brain and treat crypto as a king. Also, don't make this so complicated... you are more dominating than those alternative coins cause you can manipulate their value if you want.
In this game I think Ethereum or Litecoin will emerge as the new King, although it may take decades, but I am somewhat convinced that either of those two altcoins will be the king some day.
Personally, I think that there are no competitors for Bitcoin and Ether. They will always lead the list of the best and most popular tokens in the crypto currency market.
In my opinion, who will become the next king of crypto currency is ethereum. I believe with ethereum because ethereum technology is almost perfect. think the currency that can replace the king's position is the ripple. But that is only possible. I do not assert it sec replacing btc - eth in the future. But that is the most likely coin.

The best projects and the latest concepts will always exist as time goes by and the faster the growth of technology, but to determine a coin king or whatever it is we need another factor for example the people's trust / user, and thinking for the new king's coin could happen in cryptocurrency.Recently, a huge number of negative conversations again arose around the crypto currency.
