Altcoins are here just to make more Bitcoin 
Personally, I don't plan to hold any altcoins indefinitely. At some point I will turn them to Bitcoin and then re-invest it in some other Altcoins.
Bitcoin is here to stay, most altcoins probably are not. When/if that changes, I will think about changing my strategy.

I agree, there aee just to many of them...1500 altcoins vs 1 Bitcoin...ok and a few forks. But who needs thousands of coins, eventually 90% of them might disappear...especially since there are daily new ICOs who create more coins and more....
Although Bitcoin has taken up 40% the coin market. But is it more worthy to invest in bitcoin? Since bitcoin can never replace the paper currency for the moment due to many complicated reasons, and most bitcoins are already acquired by a small sum of people. So if a kind of currency can't be circulated, what's the meaning of that coin. When it comes to ICO, and the release of altcoin, it means that you are investing in a company, you are holding equity in the company. If you think this company will have a bright future, it's always worthy to put your money in.

bitcoin is dominating the market but I think it's open means it can be used anywhere like paper money, I do not think we can compare it with it. because it is different money physical properties of bitcoin digital.
I don't think that alt is better than btc, but of course, is really good. Alts have good project and sometimes you can see a good invest on the market, but...

in the movement certainly can produce more than altcoin in the bitcoin. that's why many more are saying altcoin is better in terms of investment. But if your looking for the long term will be different again. bitcoin will be the best because it has the future potential is better and will be able to survive for long.

of course your perception is wrong, that actually bitcoin is better than altcoin. if as you say it is true, maybe the current bitcoin has fallen below the altcoin value. but the fact does not happen and this has happened from time to time, behind the background of investment in ico project. this is just for profit. and certainly after a profit, will still be redeemed in bitcoin.

Well firstly on altcoins you can earn more, secondly the altcoins are more technologically advanced. But keeping savings in altcoins is more risky than in bitcoin.

altcoins are better for trading - they are more profitable, but bitcoin seems more strong for long term hold and for save capital i guess.
