No? Not even close, it clearly states it's a refusal to believe or accept something as true, it doesn't mean your position is that god is 100% not true, atheism position is: You don't have enough evidence, therefore I don't believe it.

But we are taking about atheists/religion. Even if non-believing something simply put the non-believer into a vacuum regarding that subject, the mouthy atheists especially have beliefs. And they have beliefs about God and all kinds of things regarding Him. One of those beliefs is that they don't know that He doesn't exist... or is that part of their knowledge, and not part of their belief system?

Even if a person could hold a position of non-belief regarding God, He would only be making himself into God by holding that position. Why? Because He would be attempting to defy the natural and scientific knowledge of God that is all around him.

This means that he still has religion, no matter how angry at this fact he gets.

Cool

Well, the definition of atheism doesn't include the word religion, so it's not a religion.

''One of those beliefs is that they don't know that He doesn't exist..'' And again, atheism is not the belief that god doesn't exist 100%, it's the non belief in the evidence presented to support god. Ghosts might be real for all I know but right now I haven't found evidence that they are, I also can't say they are 100% not real but I can't believe in them right now. That's what atheism is.

Probably very few definitions include all instances of the defining use. Definitions attempt to be brief enough, yet inclusive enough, so that people who use them can understand the other things that they cover which are not listed in the definition, itself. This is part of the reason why languages change with use, over time... because the definitions are not inclusive enough.

Oxford says that non belief is lack of belief in something, especially religion - https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/non-belief. As I said, just because someone doesn't believe something, doesn't make him a vacuum regarding that thing. Lack of belief in something is simply believing that it doesn't exist. The consideration of "it" is belief in it enough that the non-believer considers it. Lack of believing that atheism is a religion, is simply lack of looking at the definition of religion entirely.

In other words, imagine a person and a church who has never heard of the word religion. Yet they practice it on a regular basis in their church services. Just because they haven't heard the word, doesn't mean that they don't have religion.

Atheism falls into the pattern of religion, even though many people want to deny it. The fact that they look at the word makes them religious in their observation of the word. Talking about it, even in a negative and negating way causes, at least, simple belief in it. The closest that you can come to an atheist is someone who has not even considered the subject of God, ever.

Cool

Which is not what atheism is, sometimes I think you have problems with your memory man.

People don't live in a vacuum. Not even atheists. All you are saying is that atheists are trying to get around their belief system being called a belief system. Atheism is simply a different kind of religion.

How do we know that atheism is a belief system? Atheists don't know that God doesn't exist. They might not question themselves about God's existence very much. But they do sometimes. This shows that they might only be believing that God doesn't exist.

Part of the vacuum that atheists don't live in is the fact that God is evident in nature. Because God is evident, atheists are only trying to believe in atheism. So, their real religion is the religion of lying, with atheism their religion of trying. Why? Because they believe they will have success in their lies.

Cool

disbelief
[dis-bi-leef]

noun

1.    the inability or refusal to believe or to accept something as true.
2.    amazement; astonishment: We stared at the Taj Mahal in disbelief.

So, continue to be amazed and astonished until you realize that disbelief, etc., are simply other forms of belief.

During my life I have seen two main trends, or "schools of thought", if you will.  One is that religion is the beginning of everything, that evolution does not exist, and so on.  The other is the exact opposite: science is everything, we are the product of evolution, and religion are fairy tales.  Its always one versus the other. Havent really seen anything in the middle, really.

What if there is a God / Goddess / groups of gods who created us and in order to do so they used science as the tool?

Science and God are not mutually exclusive. Comparing religion with science is like comparing apples and oranges, they are focusing on different questions. A person can be a theist and extremely knowledgeable in science. Atheism is not the same thing as science, because science can be used to support theism as well as atheism. Some people view all the wonders of this world as evidence for design (Intelligent Designer worldview), while other people view this world as coming from chance (Darwinian worldview). It is all about perception. Science is not an opposite of theism, atheism is.

Religion answers the purpose questions while science answers the mechanism questions.

Religion questions
"Why do we exist?"
"What is the meaning of life and why is it valuable?"
"Why is having absolute morality essential for humans to coexist peacefully?"

Science questions
"How are babies born?"
"What is the mechanism for how genes replicate?"
"How do lightning and thunder occur?" etc.

I remember Lawrence Krauss (famous atheist) once said, "if you were choking, would you prefer the person next to you to start praying or do the heimlich maneuver to relieve you?" The question was asked to show how religion is useless while science is extremely useful to learn. Nobody is questioning the usefulness of science, the most adamant theists are completely pro-science just as much as the most adamant atheists. View David Berlinski or Stephen Meyer for examples of knowledgeable scientists who believe in God.

Let's look at Krauss's example from two worldviews.

Atheistic worldview: If I was choking, I am happy that somebody learned the Heimlich maneuver in science class so he could help me. To me, it is evidence that science is superior to theology studies.

Theistic worldview: If I was choking, I am happy that somebody did the Heimlich maneuver on me, but I would also thank God that I happened to be choking in front of someone who knows how to do the Heimlich maneuver. On the very rare moment that I happened to be choking, God made sure to place me in front of someone who is skilled in the Heimlich maneuver, to relieve me immediately, and I see that as a great sign that God was taking care of me.

This is how the two worldviews differ in my opinion. Atheism does not have God in the picture, theism does.

''Atheism isn't a belief. It is an attempted belief. It is a self-delusion of the atheist. Atheism isn't a belief because all - 100% of - so-called atheists know that God might exist somewhere that they haven't discovered, yet.'' Well yeah, thats why it's a non belief. Atheism is usually not saying that god doesn't exist 100%, atheism is: you don't have evidence, therefore I don't believe you.

When you live in a non-belief, and especially when you are adamant about it, that's when it falls into the class called religion. The only reason why anyone would hate a religion is that he doesn't realize what a religion really is.

However, there is plenty of evidence for the existence of God in the machine nature of the universe. Machines have makers. That is part of the reason so-called atheists often lose their cool when proof for God is shown to them. They realize that their faith in their false religion is slipping, and they don't like it.

Cool

Nope, it's just living your life not accepting idiotic claims without evidence. These idiotic claims are everywhere, from ghosts and other paranormal invented creatures to flat earth. We don't accept those because they are idiotic and there is no evidence for them, we are in a way ''atheists'' regarding those.

Actually, it's living your life accepting idiotic claims, and you don't even know it.

Because atheism is more of a religion that formal religions are.

Guess not, atheism as well as the atheist doesnt concern ourselves to religious aspects and conflicts. What you seem think of us is a bit off the line and that doesnt really describes what we really are. Like I said the only different thing from you and us is that we can easily understand every situation we're in. We don't concern ourselves into the limitless discrimination on this world. We just live for who we think we need to.

Well I dont intend to defend atheism from what you think from us, I'm just explaining the right thing. Anyways have a happy living.  Religous persons will not be able to understand what we mean as for they are bound by a book. Its something like called curse.

Dictionary.com:
religion
[ri-lij-uh n]

noun

1.    a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
2.    a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.
3.    the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.
4.    the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.
5.    the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.
6.    something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience: to make a religion of fighting prejudice.
7.    religions, Archaic . religious rites: painted priests performing religions deep into the night.
8.    Archaic . strict faithfulness; devotion: a religion to one's vow.

Let's see, now. Numbers 1, 2, 3, 5 (religious - The boy religiously repaired his bike.), 6, and 8, all fit atheists in varying degrees. Take a look at the atheist scientists. Science is their religion. The use of the Greek alphabet and words in their scientific activities is part of their ritual.

The more a person is an adamant, proclaiming atheist, the more he has made atheism a religion for himself.

Cool

As you can see all of those include the word ''beliefs'' which is exactly what atheism isn't, a belief, you knucklehead.

The point was that atheism is a religion. A boy repairing his bike isn't making bicycle repair a religion for himself. His personal religion is the studious way he does things in life. Repairing the Bicycle is only one of the ways he expresses his personal religion. If he gets into the bicycle repair business, and makes it a major focus of his life, then bicycle repair might become a religion for him.

Atheism isn't a belief. It is an attempted belief. It is a self-delusion of the atheist. Atheism isn't a belief because all - 100% of - so-called atheists know that God might exist somewhere that they haven't discovered, yet. All they are trying to do is to blanket out this understanding with almost nothing to back it up. Why? Because they all know that God might exist somewhere that they haven't examined, yet.

Because the atheist attempts to delude himself, self-delusion is actually his religion. But because the atheism-proclaiming atheist makes it a focus of his self-delusion religion, atheism has become a religion for him. It's not that he believes it. It's that he is trying to believe it, and has deluded himself into thinking that he believes it.

We all have our own beliefs, what's your point? Religious people are no longer religious because they also use or understand science? The point is that atheism itself is a disbelief or lack of belief, it's simply not accepting unproven facts, religious people themselves are atheists, they reject the other thousands of gods.

My point is if we all have our own beliefs, then why attack others for believing in something?

Well, I'm not, I'm just trying to stop badecker from spreading lies. Having your own beliefs is fine but don't treat them like it's real life. Beliefs can be dangerous, if I believe I can fly, I could kill myself. We need to try to live as close to reality as possible.
