Actually if we are going to use the dictionary, it is exactly: ''disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods.''

That definition is fine, but atheists are human beings too. They also have their own ideas about the origins of life, the universe, consciousness etc. These ideas are "beliefs", aren't they?

We all have our own beliefs, what's your point? Religious people are no longer religious because they also use or understand science? The point is that atheism itself is a disbelief or lack of belief, it's simply not accepting unproven facts, religious people themselves are atheists, they reject the other thousands of gods.

As you can see all of those include the word ''beliefs'' which is exactly what atheism isn't, a belief, you knucklehead.

Atheism is a belief. It is a claim that God definitely does not exist, a claim of knowledge. It is a belief that the universe came out from nothing, and this belief also has no evidence to support it.

When atheists like Richard Dawkins and other notable figures were asked about the beginning of the universe, they claim that this "nothing" is actually not nothing but there was actually something there. So if atheists can believe that something can always exist eternally and does not require a creator, then why is it difficult to believe in God?

Because atheism is more of a religion that formal religions are.

Guess not, atheism as well as the atheist doesnt concern ourselves to religious aspects and conflicts. What you seem think of us is a bit off the line and that doesnt really describes what we really are. Like I said the only different thing from you and us is that we can easily understand every situation we're in. We don't concern ourselves into the limitless discrimination on this world. We just live for who we think we need to.

Well I dont intend to defend atheism from what you think from us, I'm just explaining the right thing. Anyways have a happy living.  Religous persons will not be able to understand what we mean as for they are bound by a book. Its something like called curse.

Dictionary.com:
religion
[ri-lij-uh n]

noun

1.    a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
2.    a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.
3.    the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.
4.    the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.
5.    the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.
6.    something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience: to make a religion of fighting prejudice.
7.    religions, Archaic . religious rites: painted priests performing religions deep into the night.
8.    Archaic . strict faithfulness; devotion: a religion to one's vow.

Let's see, now. Numbers 1, 2, 3, 5 (religious - The boy religiously repaired his bike.), 6, and 8, all fit atheists in varying degrees. Take a look at the atheist scientists. Science is their religion. The use of the Greek alphabet and words in their scientific activities is part of their ritual.

The more a person is an adamant, proclaiming atheist, the more he has made atheism a religion for himself.

Cool

They should write a book about religion...  Wink

Are you implying to us? Why would the Atheist should write a book about religiotic topics? We're not even concerned about what happens to them. And besides we're just hypocrites into their eyes. Anyone who defies your God is simply do not belong to the world that your imaginations takes you.

Because atheism is more of a religion that formal religions are.

''God made a woman to be a helper companion for a man. '' And how is that fair for a woman?

More importantly, why did he create lesbians?  The whole design story falls apart if you bother only to think for one tiny second!!!!

Badecker will say free will but hey, not enough free will for women to do whatever they want, they must serve and help men.

The thing that BADecker says is, Women have the distraction of making babies in themselves and throughout their whole bodily system. Sure, they can do other things. But the main thing they were made for is to make babies. This distraction will distract from good thinking in other areas.

Cool

You don't have to say it more times badecker, we know you are a misogynistic person in favor of slaves and other cruelty. The bible has truly washed your brain.

What we should do is get rid of religions. ''Updating'' a religion makes no sense considering they claim the bible is the ultimate moral guide because god.

The bible does not prohibit women from becoming powerful Church authorities, the religions assigning Church leaders and popes are based on historical traditions rather than the bible.

Past traditions are not always the best ones, but some people like to do things "the way they have always been done"

Consider Judges chapters 4 and 5. As necessary, God allows and directs women to be leaders at times. BUT, They are to be under the authority of a man.

Saint Paul says, 1 Timothy 2:11-15:
11A woman a should learn in quietness and full submission. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

So, we see why. From a position of honor because of the type of person a woman is, and from the distraction that a woman has in machinery for making babies within herself, a woman should be under the direction of a man, although she might hold a powerful position.

However, if there are only women and children left - like in war - such is different until one of the male children grows sufficiently old in age, mind and body to become the head.

It isn't a man against woman thing. It is simply the way things work out according to God and nature.

Cool

''So, we see why. From a position of honor because of the type of person a woman is, and from the distraction that a woman has in machinery for making babies within herself, a woman should be under the direction of a man, although she might hold a powerful position.''

Amazing moral codes, god made women less powerful than men because ''reasons'' and now they should always be under the direction of a man. Disgusting.

God made a woman to be a helper companion for a man. She does the work of bearing the children. Such is a distraction from much of the thinking that goes outside of family life. It's the way things are.

Just think, you don't have the ability to ride the skies among the galaxies, even though you have the ability to think and visualize to some extent. It is simply your position, like a grain of sand is smaller than a rock.

This is good, universal order. And it maintains itself even in the face of sin. Why do you want to destroy yourself by making yourself into something that doesn't work in nature? It's kinda hard for you to do it, even though you want to. Ultimately, if you don't change, you WILL destroy yourself... in Hell.

Basing your epistemology on talking snakes, flying horses, and pregnant virgins is not a way to go.

Garbage in, garbage out.

Except that you don't know for a fact that these weren't things that existed in the past. Or that they don't exist, right now, in remote places. Since you don't know, you only believe. Such believing shows that you have religion, even if you haven't made it formal.

You're stuck. You just can't get away from religion, just like all atheists, and all people.

Cool

I know.  You fantasize that they existed in the past.  Your epistemology is based on fiction.

That is the difference between us.

But you don't know this. You are assuming, guessing, hoping, rationalizing, etc. You don't know for a fact, just like you don't know all kinds of other things. So, you have religion and religious tendencies in yourself.

Can't get away from religion. You are stuck with religion in yourself.
