For me why I need to hide for my gambling activity, it is due to privacy and my own security.
Privacy because I dont want people to see me doing gambing since gambling is considered as bad activity as well as a crime in my country.
Security, since gambling is illegal in my country so I can be prisoned if I play gambling in public places.
Aside above reasons, even if I live in a country where gambling is legal, I will still prefer to gamble secretly because it is better for me.

This is unregulated business cause one who operates will not pay taxes to the government which is the obvious reason why they chose to hide from the public and if someone reports their activity then they are at the risk of getting prisoned.

You should not be involved in such gambling in my opinion, imagine you won a bet that can clear the entire bank roll of the table then I am sure one who runs will not pay you the money instead threaten you to leave without making any attention.

I support the idea of keeping gambling private and a secret and if you see anyone hiding to gamble, then it is for the same reason. The risk of making your gambling public are many, ranging from the negative perception of people about gambling and gamblers to the security challenge, there is every reason to make gambling a secret. In some cases, a gambler is easily seen as irresponsible by people especially during arguments. We face this in workplaces and other social gatherings where some people are treated with disdain simply because they make their gambling public. Online casino have really come to solve one of the problem facing traditional casinos by making it possible for gamblers to do all their activities without anyone knowing.

First, I want to believe that you are from Nigeria, whot card game is a very popular card game in Nigeria, and some other parts of Africa, and to be honest with you, I don't know about the law surrounding this game in other countries,  but over here in Nigeria, and in some states, playing whot game with real money staked is prohibited, and law enforcement agencies like the police (most especially) usually do not hesitate to arrest as many they can lay hold of, when ever they come around a group of guys who are playing this game and betting real money.

Reason I believe is because in previous time, alot of young boys have lost their lives from this type of gambling, as a result of fights that usually break out when ever there is any form of disagreements in between the players, often as a result of money issues, such fight usually turn fetal most of the time, leading to one or two person losing their life.

And again, such gambling often goes hand in hand with hard drug trading, this is another reason why they hide themselves, the game being played is sometimes a cover up, or what they use to keep themselves busy, the real business there the hard drug trading.

Yes, that's true because a woman's intuition can tell her if her husband is hiding something from her. He probably won't ask many questions, but he will try to find out what is going on.
She could analyze her husband's behavior and see if any changes had occurred. Then, she would try to find some cause or other until she finally uncovered the secret of her gambler husband.
Well, maybe her husband needs to tell the truth about his gambling habits to avoid misunderstandings between them. After all, it was his family's money, so he should be able to tell the truth about how he used it.
We must prioritize money for the family budget over other things.

Gamblers, desire to hide their new habits for the stigma placed on them, as said above. But, in a place where those stigmas are not fully directed at gamblers, the reason for privatizing gambling activities may differ. In most cases, people must add meaning to the actions of the gambler, when they're aware of his habit. They begin to talk about how he, the gambler, spends his money, and wastes time gambling. Sometimes when the player spends money, his close friends will begin to ask him whether he won money. Those things are meant to be private. Some people can't hold their tongues the moment they find out a friend gamble. Although what is most crucial is the safety of the gambler, not what people think of him, but those reactions from people can emotionally affect the gambler.

To the extent of thinking he's doing something wrong. Even as a responsible gambler. Not everyone is capable of dealing with hearsay. Hence, they should keep the habit hidden. All habits or behaviors have their disadvantages, and gamblers also need to understand this, keeping our gambling habit a secret has some disadvantages. Nobody knows, and everyone would think everything is alright, even when in a bad gambling state. Same as isolating ourselves from society. It'll only get harsh to the person if nobody can say for sure what their problem is because they don't hear or discuss it with him.

It's true, maybe it's because of the bad effects that most people prefer to hide their gambling activities, they are afraid that other people will have a bad view of them, because yes, as we know, the bad effects of gambling, such as addiction, can have a very bad impact and can sometimes involve many people, because of these bad impacts, people will definitely stay away from people who are involved in gambling and this is a problem that causes estrangement with other people, even though for example they are people who are quite close to us. Someone who is involved in gambling will most likely be looked at badly by the people around him, even though, for example, you are actually a fairly responsible gambler who can manage and control your gambling activities well, but still people will only see things at a glance from the outside. So for myself, to be honest, I prefer to hide my gambling involvement from other people, including family, but maybe the risk is that when we experience problems as a result of gambling, maybe we will have quite a hard time seeking help because if we seek help from other people it's the same. we tell them we are gamblers.

Actually not the first time I've watched a wife easily reveal the secrets of her gambler husband. Women, they are so intuitive, so sensitive to changes in behavior. Even if he tries to hide his trips to the casino, sooner or later the truth still comes out. After all, the money he's losing there is family money! I don't know how wives find out, but they always do. Perhaps this is a kind of defense mechanism to keep the family budget from going bankrupt. But anyway, it hits me every time.

Lets say about certain conditions,like;

1. When you are poor then you do gamble- people would be saying that he's that irresponsible and make out bad decisions because instead of gambling with those funds, its better to buy up into his
personal needs or other priorities on which its really just that right.

2. When you are rich- people would be telling that its his money and since his rich then he could pay up on the amount that he would be able to lose in gambling. So its just fine.

No matter what angle you would really be tending to look up, you would really be able to hear up that there's always something that people would be able to say
which it would really be a normal and this is why most people would really be tending to hide no matter what.

        -     Well that style is not a new thing for me, if you have seen such a thing, they probably know that gambling in their place where you see them are likely to be prohibited from anyone.

Because they can't control themselves so they still do something illegal because one factor that can also be that they become more comfortable for sure as a gambler.

I think it depends on your status and lifestyle in life if you will be criticized when gambling. I knew a lot of gamblers here that don’t hide their gambling activities because they can handle it well without affecting their family or neighborhood.

I think this bad image on gambling should stop now because the gambling games itself is not the problem but the way people use it. It was dedicated for entertainment while other people use it the wrong that gives gambling a bad image. If your life is just normal even if you are gambling, I don’t see the point of hiding it regardless of what people think.

We do have our own self-explanation regarding to how we treat our gambling, I guess most of those who continue  to hide thier gambling involvement are still have that mindset that they might be criticize by other people that surrounds them especially if they are in the religious types of community, they are afraid of being tag doing something not religeous.

Well, it depends from how you treat and how acceptance it be from the community where you at, gambling though is no longer a secret for most people, as it's easy to be access  and the industry is being accepted by most countries around.

because what society sees about gambling has a bad impact. we have seen it happen to our neighbors, friends, or family. or even we have experienced it.
Those of us who try to be careful in gambling do not publish any of our gambling activities as much as possible. Even in the family environment, we don't publish it as much as possible. But the risk is not to bother other people with your gambling problem.
When you gamble responsibly, all risks can be controlled.

Almost everyone doesnt really like on being that watched or being that been observed on which we know that we are living in a world on which society does really have that low view or having that discriminative
approach towards gambling and to those people who are really that getting involved with it on which this is something that would really be primarily on what into peoples mind.

This is why on the time that they would really be dealing up with gambling then this is the time that they would really be tending to hide it off even into their own family members
on which they woudl really be making it as a secret which they dont really like on getting judged right away on being a gambling addict.

We do know that not all people who do gamble are considered automatically as addicts, there are really just that those people who are really that
not liking on showing everyone on what are the things that they would really be dealing with specially if its really something that getting too much negative impression.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. I've seen this business's underbelly and its effects. People dont enjoy talking about it because its shameful. Not rules or laws, but the mess it makes of life. It splits families.

I understand the thrill and risk, but gambling is different. It entices you to chase losses at all costs. I've seen people with everything lose toss it away. Not weakness, but an industry created to exploit you. So dont assume Im criticizing or doing something grand. I detest seeing people harmed when its avoidable.

Yes, and I think one of the reasons why a gambler still gets a bad rap from society about his or her involvement in gambling even if the country does not ban gambling activities in my opinion is because of the bad effects that are undeniable in gambling, or in other words, everyone has an equal chance of ending up experiencing many bad effects such as addiction if only they treat the activity in the wrong way or in a way that tends to be too excessive. We can't lie that gambling can always ruin a person's life in various aspects regardless of whether the country bans or legalizes the activity, which is probably the reason why society still views gamblers as people with bad personalities.

Perhaps this is also the reason why most people prefer to hide their involvement in gambling, but on the other hand yes you have also repeated my idea above that it still depends on one's comfort regarding whether they want to hide their gambling or even publicize it to the public eye, but I think there is absolutely nothing to be proud of from being involved in gambling, plus we are the only ones who will eventually feel whatever impact it has.

As the name sounds "Whot" is a physical gambling game that I know that people find displeasing to come out openly to partake in it, not that it is illegal in their country but because of how uncomfortable they feel engaging in it openly due to how so many perceived it to be a game that is meant for lazy and irresponsible people who don't know their responsibility in their given family

Many people feel uncomfortable doing something by being watched. What we do is to make ourself having fun with a certain situation we prefer to. It's not something to make other people having fun with us. Unlike a beer or cigarettes, gambling involves a higher risk of losing money. We need to find our way to enjoy it for the money that could be lost. Comfortable way is a preferable option to do it.

Online gambling platforms are the best option for people who like to gamble without feeling observed. Online gambling can be done in times and places where we can have comfortable feeling. Having privacy or choosing our own comfortable situation is not meant to hide what we do, It's just a preferable condition to enjoy activity that can lead us to have satisfactions.

Overall, if we ask the opinion of most people, the conclusion seems to be towards hiding gambling activities. Especially if someone is married and has children, don't let them know that we like to find pleasure through gambling.

The fewer people who know that we are gamblers, the more comfortable we will be, but we cannot deny that there are some people who are proud of their gambling activities. Sure enough, it all depends on one convenience, and we can't fault such a principle. But if gambling has made us depressed, either financially or in a negative view of the environment, then it is better to just hide it.

Everyone has their own perspective and point of view on gambling, and with you preferring to gamble in private with the aim that your focus is not disturbed by others then yes that may be the approach that makes you feel more comfortable when gambling. I agree with you that gambling is nothing more than an activity of entertainment and fun, but as for the issue of whether it is better to hide it or not I think it depends on the person, because there are always some countries that give laws that gambling is prohibited in their country so when someone is in that country then obviously they will prefer to hide their gambling activities, Not only to avoid negative criticism from others but also to avoid punishment for violating the government regulations in their country, and I think there is nothing to be proud of just by having the courage to take risks because there is absolutely no success in gambling that can make you get appreciation, gambling is always about the chances of winning which will only happen occasionally and the possibility of losing which is a sure thing.
