Well there are plenty of coins and tokens out there that provide pretty good utility. Bitcoin is popular simply cause it is the first cryptocurrency. However, Bitcoin is inefficient in terms of transaction speed, and it has no intrinsic value.
I believe that they're popular mainly because well it was the first of all cryptocurrencies to be made. Honestly most of the other coins are scams and greedy ways that the developers make money. The only other coin I can think of that isn't a scam are dogecoins! What do you think?
Because this is what started the all crypto, most of the people does not understand in crypto but they do know what is bitcoin, so most of what is popular is bitcoin. Because BTC have high value than another coin and much people use BTC for transaction
Yes, that is simply basic. But the reason why it is more valuable and mostly used is because it is also the father of decentralized cryptocurrencies hence it is also the most popular. Technology wise I think there are already some altcoins that can match it or even provide more features like smart contract.

I agree with your opinion, bitcoin is the first virtual currency in the world, But nowadays bitcoin is not the most beneficial money coin, Currently the altcoin has grown a lot, ETH ... etc. was born on the basis of bitcoin, they are more convenient than bitcoin. But the most common bitcoin is because they account for more market share than other virtual currencies. Long-lived bitcoins.
