Because they often connect their happiness with other people. And become dependent on them. And this is bad for relations.
In this world there are so many people that haven't minimum resources to live. But sometimes those people are in a happy mood and they are trying to happy without sorrow. But some people are not going to happy even thoug they have everything. The happy and unhappy is depends upon the nature of human. Most of the people are unhappy because of they don't have money to fullfill their dreams. So they trying to earn money then they will unhappy. If we can forget our troubles we would have happy life. If allbl try to decrease their needs it will show the happy path.
Because "Happiness" is only just an abstract created biologically because it is essential to one's survival.
You can call it an illusion if you like. And once you stepped out of the norm and think like the way you are asking right now, you'll be surprised that there is really no answers.

The hard truth is that we will never find relief if we continue to seek it through possessions or through people. Seeking satisfaction in the things of this world is like chasing the wind. It's only found in JESUS!
Because life sucks. Hell is here on Earth.
Every people like to live in happy.But many people have most problems in their life like family,social,political,mental problems.Most of people suffering any one of those problem.They always think about this and feeling unhappy.If someone live in happy sometimes others can not see it and try to make him trouble be unhappy.
It seems to me that other people are becoming lonely because they have become a problem, just as they have nothing to eat during the day or they have no money. It's very important for us to have money here that we will be happy when we have it. They are not satisfied with what they have so it makes them feel alive.
Did you ever thought why many people are not happy even they have many possessions in life? Did you ever thought the reason behind those agonies even if they tried to be happy but it wont last that long? There are many reasons why people are dissatisfied with their lives. Here is a person's everything, the situation in society, a good job, a lot of money, and he is dissatisfied with something. Why? because he can not appreciate what he is given.
People are unhappy for various reasons. Some aren't happy because they can't get what they want. Some of them are experiencing hardships and difficulty in life.

People are unhappy because of discontentment. They always want more of the things that they don't have. I think true happiness can only be obtained if we'll learn how to appreciate the things that are available already, such as our job, family and good health. I am grateful to have the said things. Some people don't realize how lucky they for what they already have.
Good said that you see them enjoying life to the fullest! But the real question is do they really really enjoy life to the fullest?, are what we see real!?. Who knows, they might have certain medical conditions, they might have several other reasons only known to them and that make them unhappy, but because we always see their happy face, we might think all is well for them. But that might not be the actual case

Some people are unhappy because they aren't in content with their lives,
it differs with each individual. Maybe some have deep regrets and have
not made any form of amends or reconciliation to give them the peace and
happiness they so desire. I believe some may also haven't really found the
love, their purpose or reason for their existence in this life.

people has this in their bones. there is an endless needs. some people maybe all of us are not contented in our lives. by the end of the day we still want something for the coming days and having that in our minds makes us unhappy.

They were unhappy for a reason that feeling of discontentment, We are trying to get the things that hard to get. discontentment make a person greed. so sometimes even the person is kind but like the scenario that he is not contented he willing to give up all the people for the sake of his dreams to achieve it.
The cause of suffering is attachment (to something physical, a person, an idea etc.)

There are a lot of possible reason why people are unhappy. 
Some of them are maybe they have personal problems such as financial, emotional, maybe family problems or maybe they are not contented on what they have....

I've read an article tackling about why a person is unhappy. There, the main reason why, according to their study, is because that person has an unhealthy relationship with the people around him/her. Someone's social life has a huge affect on happiness. If that person has a good relationships, specially with the family. It lightens up his/her mood.
because, almost all the problems are created by themselves, slandering something to themselves, and upsetting simultaneously. Therefore, people are so unhappy.
