People get unhappy if they envy other people and when they get jealous, they envy those who has special things in life. Those who drag people down because they want them not to level up and stay the same as them.

People are unhappy for various reasons. Some aren't happy because they can't get what they want that's why they feel uncontentment. Also, some of them are experiencing hardships and difficulty in life. Maybe they are having a hard time looking for ways to survive. They are in pain or can't handle the burdens of life.
There are several factors why people tends to be unhappy. It's just a proof that no one could be perfect in all aspects of life. Sometimes, happiness is already in front of you .. You just need to pay attention and keep it as one of your valuable things.
I think happiness cannot be long-term. It's too fragile to resist to every little bump in the long run. There's always things that make us happy, and there's those that make us sad, disappointed, etc.

Modern day life is pegged to capitalism, and hence 99% people are unhappy since the 1% capitalists wont allow the 99% normal people a break.
People are unhappy due to so many reasons which varies. One could be wealthy but has no child or children,another could have children but no money to give them quality training because he is poor,another could be wealthy but cannot enjoy the wealth due to sicknesses and diseases and so feel very unhappy and so on.
People have a lot of expectations from the world and do not care about small happiness.

We humans have an ability lets just call it a disability we get the urge of wanting. In the beginning we want lets say a petal, than after we get it we want something bigger than it, so we get a flower, this satisfies us for a bit, but we get the urge of wanting more, so we get a bouquet of flowers, this cycle continuous and does not stop.
Because they always want more, and can't stop.

I think the reason behind this is that most people are not contented of what they have and because of that they tend to urge for more than what they need.
Because they are discontented and because of greed. They thought they already have everything but, No, they want so they are not yet fulfilled. Something is still lacking. In that they will never be happy.
