That unlike any other, there is no third party interruptions. Intermediary is not needed. The transactions being done by the users are easier and faster. We can do transactions through mobile payments, very low transaction fees and purchases are not taxed. It is very convenient. We can save time and energy.
For me why i use Bitcoin because it is an online financial network that people use to send payments from one person to another.It is similar to conventional payment networks just like Visa,Pay Pal etc. but Bitcoin is not the same from other payment network because Bitcoin is decentralized.No one owns the Bitcoin network,it is fast transaction for paying a cheque from another bank into your bank.
I will use it because its use is very fast, its commercial value is rising. Its transactions are very tidy and safe. I hope the transaction will be safer in the future and will be gauged faster, then the use of BTC will increase further.
I use bitcoin not as a means of payment for transactions, but I use bitcoin to get multiple profits. I get a lot of profit by selling bitcoins and keep using real money as a means of payment

I have my personal reasons, I am interested Bitcoins them as a tech person, speculative investor and person that follows evolving treads and markets. I am just struggling to see any.. benefits for the average consumer at this stage.

Bitcoin has been existed for us to use it in the virtual world. But due to the business minded people they will use bitcoin as one of their source of income and I proudly say that I am one of them.
Bitcoin as a digital currency is used by many for the purpose of cutting down cost of loosing money due to transactions entered into. Bitcoins are bought for the purpose of investing and other transactions that may require payment of which bitcoin can be used for that said purpose. The huge transactions which may be look at by others may also not be what others consider same. Trade fare recently organised accepted the use of bitcoins of which was actually a welcome idea and a lot of people who have bitcoin actually uses their bitcoin to purchase quality goods .

Actually for me , I keep using bitcoin because it can makes my life more accomodating. Especially if you use the feature that bitcoin has. For example you are going pay your bills during weekday, but you still at your work. You can use bitcoin to pay bills without any hassle. Because you would need to left your work just pay your bills. I use bitcoin because bitcoin gives me many benefits. I invest in bitcoin, the profits I receive will be much larger than the deposit in the bank. bitcoin is a great internet payment gateway, i can pay or deal very fast without cost ... i love bitcoin and I believe there will be more people using it.
My main reason for using bitcoin is because with bitcoin everything becomes easier, simpler and safer, transactions with bitcoin are very fast compared to banks so I use bitcoin than others.
Bitcoin is not only a vessel to store value but it's also really useful in the remittance industry. I can send 100,000$ paying a mere 4$ in fees with Bitcoin while it would cost me 3000$ with PayPal and I'd take some risk to do the paypal transaction while doing the same thing from a traditional bank would cost some money,time & would probably raise questions.
You have a good point regarding small fees relative to large transactions but in case of small transaction fee is a problem.
And yes, big sums via bank transfers and PayPal transfers is problematic.
