Yes, this is 100% true, the potential for gambling addiction should not be underestimated in any age group. Even at the age of 60, addiction can manifest itself in a more aggressive form than at a young age. But I meant that, on average, older people are calmer if divided into 2 large groups: young and old gamblers.

When I often see on TV or on the Internet when they show Las Vegas, there are a lot of retirees sitting at the slot machines, but I think they like to go out somewhere and spend time, which they have plenty of. Young people prefer to play online, and of course there are tens or hundreds of times more of them than those pensioners. This is also facilitated by aggressive advertising of gambling in all areas, even in games such as Dota 2 and CS, where rare items that cost a lot of money fall out of the chest. I would even call it a hidden form of gambling that minors are taught to do from a young age. I think this is a real problem.
Gambling addiction is age-neutral. Young or old, gaming can be highly alluring. Yes, older people may appear calmer, but it doesn't mean their addiction is weaker

We often assume Las Vegas retirees are there for fun. Who knows what's in their minds?
Yes, exactly, and indeed I also think the same as you that whether or not someone is addicted cannot be measured by the age factor at all, as you say young or old it doesn't matter, and I think it's more about the person himself, although maybe older people are more mature in terms of thought but that doesn't always make them think more realistically in seeing gambling, there is a chance of winning and if they are very serious about it then obviously whoever it is and whatever age they are they will definitely pursue a victory that is not promising at all.

Of course, not all retirees always have the right mindset as I said above, and it's only right that no one can know what's really on their mind, it's not uncommon that they can think of something even beyond our expectations. So the point is that whether they are addicted or not cannot be measured by who they are, how old they are, only they know what they will do.

Aren't these games disturbing for normalizing gambling in kids? They seem ready for real-world gambling. This is a major issue. Addressing this: how? We protect the defenseless how?

Why not, right? There's no age limit to gambling, as long as you're mature enough (at least 18 years old), you're good to go. If gambling brings you happiness and you see it as entertainment, then sure, I'd keep gambling even if I got older, as long as I'm still financially and mentally capable. These days, you can gamble from the comfort of your own home, right on your phone or computer. It's pretty convenient, and it's a way to keep things interesting as we grow older.
I think I have different opinion from yours and that's because of the factors that should be considered before gambling at old age. I don't think it's an engagement that old people are supposed to get involved in because of how nervous it is to gamble. For instance, whenever one stakes his money, he's always nervous about it on wether he's gonna win his stake or lose it and that is unhealthy for an old man because the anxiety can be too bad for his medical condition. So people should gamble as much as they want but shouldn't continue at old age for the purpose of their health.
I will have to follow your path as well as it shows that you have a very good thought about this. Old age is not what we should take lightly, perhaps experience will change the minds of some people when they eventually reach that level. It's the age at which we should leave the things of the world for the world as much as possible, and gambling is part of what I would never advise old people to engage in, they should rather find a different thing that would keep them occupied if need be. Anything that is mind and mental controlling should be avoided during this age as they could bring some kinds of unplanned shockwaves that will cause further issues.

At this age, people should have no worries anymore but try to live a peaceful life until that glorious call. That is not the age to chase money if you planned and lived a good life. So, it's better we start planning for our old age so that nothing will push us to the extreme of gambling at that resting age.

I will answer first.
I will love to quit gambling when I am 42yrs because I don't want to give gambling much time and I will prefer to look for an alternative means to have fun.
For now I haven't thought about whether when I grow up I will stop gambling or whether I will still have fun playing gambling games.
So far, for me gambling games are still very exciting to play, but if later I feel bored playing the game then it is very likely that at that time I will stop looking for fun in gambling and plan to spend my free time with my family and try to live a peaceful life without gambling again in my life.
Everyone has the opportunity to choose in their old age whether they still want to gamble or not. To be honest, gambling in online casinos will not make us able to look at a cell phone or computer screen. Of course, our eyes are not always healthy, it could be a problem with our eyesight, making it difficult to gambling online again, I only see parents who gamble directly offline with their friends looking for fun there in their house.

But I will also stop gambling when I reach 50 years after all, no one knows when we will live, it is impossible for us to be a gambler forever, even though sometimes it is very fun, there are still many fun things to do besides gambling and enjoy old age where we gather. with family is a high priority.  Grin

In other words, when you are older you will drink alcohol for other reasons than you did at a younger age? Tongue I believe some people think that's how it is, but it implies that everyone has full control over what they do and why they do it. But when only the why in their mind changes and the what stays the same, then the why also never changed. If someone is addicted to something for example and can't ever get rid of it, age really changes nothing. The first question therefore is why someone is doing it. It's not that out of a sudden you do something at the age of 60 that you already did at the age of 20 with an entirely different perspective and approach. For some things that might be true, but it all depends on the why. It is not like someone is sitting at the slot machine and out of a sudden sees things differently with age.  Huh
If a person does not look at things differently with age, then he lacks development. Even in old age he has life experience and wisdom. If a person played slots at the age of 20 and lost under the influence of his emotions and did not control it, then this can still be attributed to youth. But at 60 years old, a player should be less calm and not chase winnings as recklessly as he did at 20 years old. At least I will say for myself that I will not do that.

If life experience and wisdom were an effective cure against addictions, things would be looking differently. If your brain chemistry is destroyed, there is nothing that life experience and wisdom can do about that. It can play a role I guess, but it doesn't matter what you call it when you drink a bottle of whiskey a night. Maybe instead of going on a party you now try to watch a nice movie on TV, but a bottle of whiskey remains a bottle of whiskey and your liver won't be any more or less thankful for your actions.

You mean a player at 60 years old should be more calm, not less calm. There are probably more young people who are addicted to gambling than there are older people although I think that potential gambling addictions shouldn't be underestimated for any age group.

It true that there no problem whatsoever with gambling into old age as long as you can still have limits and gamble just for fun but at least it would be better in old age to gamble once week just to fill your free time and entertain yourself so you don't get bored.

Old people like senior citizens already have a lot of free time or we can considered that most of their time is already free since they are all retired or not capable of working anymore.

Old people that gambling during their young age usually spend their free time most on gambling. In our local bingo shop, most of the players is old people that regularly playing since most of them is already living on their own since their children already have their own family. Old people is actually the one that is not prone to addiction since they are not aggressive anymore on achieving huge win.
We could say old age is an anti-addiction stage of life that people at old age don't have worries to make huge money all they are most concerned about are engagements and activities that could kill the boredom of old age and gambling is one of such activity that best fit into their stage of life as a fun activity.

It would suggest that old age is the convenient time to connect with gambling as you wouldn't have issues with addiction, unnecessary gambling spending and loss chase issues.

Surely I will gamble in my old ages, because I will save money to live in the old ages.So the money which I was saving also include for the gambling at the old ages.I will earn the money till my 55 years and hold the money to gamble above the fifty five years. The addiction is not the cause of this reaction, the affection towards the gambling was the main reason for this.If the gambler get the affection towards the gambling,So he plan to live the gambling till their dead.Same was the opinion of myself being the gambler.
I appreciate the plan you said, but would not it be better for you to save for something more important than saving just to have fun in your old age?
TBH, I might still gamble in my old age but I did not plan it that way or rather look at the conditions and situations in my old age and I also saved but not for old age but to build a lot of business to get a big income in my life. old age later. so even though I am not currently saving for my old age, at least I have a lot of business savings and in my old age I will enjoy the results and after that I am free to use the money for gambling or whatever.

and all of this is just my opinion, not meant to give you advice because I can appreciate that everyone goals are different.

In my opinion, it's better to satisfy yourself gambling at a young age so that when you're old you don't gamble anymore and you can use your retirement money for more useful things.
when we are old we will definitely feel the difference unlike when we were young we spent money to gamble with the aim of having fun but when we are old we will definitely think more intelligently and not use our pension money which is not much only used for gambling, it is true that old age is a bit boring and will feel lonely, therefore, as long as we are still young and still have parents, never leave your parents alone at home, accompany them and chat or as children occasionally give them a family holiday so that your parents feel entertained in their old age so they don't feel bored.
If a child has a family, they will indeed be busy with their own lives, but parents are still parents, one day we will definitely be old and will feel the same way.
Therefore, I always apply this to my parents, hoping that in my old age my children will also be treated the same way so that they don't feel lonely and bored and don't think about gambling at all.

right with what you said is satisfied in youth, but in my opinion most people who play gambling are addicted to gambling everyone knows the bad effects of gambling, most likely only a few people you said played just for fun, but youth is a fiery period not many people can do that many people are addicted to gambling, the bad effects of gambling are fatal if they are addicted to gambling the thirst for victory felt by addicts is very high they can sacrifice property for gambling without realizing the bad effects.

Of course you know the bad impact if they are addicted to gambling can harm themselves and even family and close relatives can be affected not only that for gamblers if they experience defeat they do not stop gambling but they do anything to be able to return to gambling with the belief that they can get a big win and can reverse all the losses they have experienced but in reality it is not like that most of them become bankrupt and can even get into debt here and there if they make loans here and there for gambling, So how to stop gambling to be able to do what you said, only a few people can avoid gambling addiction and think about their own fate or their family.

It is the same with "Do you still drink beer even though you are still old?". I will still gamble as long as it doesn't affect my health or well-being. I do gamble for fun and I don't always gamble every day, only when there are big events such as sports finals. As long as I find it enjoyable I will still bet but I do see myself quitting along the way as I would be focusing more of my time on investments and businesses as we know that as we age we have less time for other things.

At old age gambling is done for fun because you are using it to relieve yourself bring back old memories. Since during old age you will be ledt with nothing to do or worry about, so if one uses small amount to gamble for maybe once in a month, it isn't bad. As long as it is a means of entertainment, then it is worth playing once in a while no matter what age that you are.
This is what I was thinking, especially if there are still offline casinos in our city. We will invite old friends to gather and play gambling together. That of course, is to bring back old memories with them.

When someone stops gambling at 40-50 and hasn't gambled for 10 years, he will miss gambling. That will make him contact his friends to return to gambling to reminisce about old memories.

But whatever age you determine as the age to stop gambling, it's up to you because you know when you should stop. So we should continue to use gambling as entertainment to return to gambling whenever we want.

I was in the garden this evening and I was think on my bet that I placed on this evening game, then something came into my head like...are you going to gamble even when you are old, or you will quit gambling at a certain age.

There are so many of us that are responsible gamblers and we only gamble to entertain ourselves not for making profit. Since gambling is done for fun, it becomes part of us, this is because we enjoy the fun, and some persons uses it to relieve them after a long day stress at work. We always assign some portion of our income for our gambling activities because it has become a habit in us. I know that some of us hasn't thought of quitting gambling because we are responsible gamblers.

My question is this, will you continue to gamble till old age, or you have planned to stop gambling at a certain age?

I'm not sure about that.
I'm not addicted to gambling, so I believe that after a while I should lose interest in it. Or maybe it's the other way around... the age-related dementia in my brain is making me lose control. I'm still too young to be able to answer this question Tongue

The fact is gambling is fun for adults of any age, and especially for the elderly, a bingo hall or casino can be a great opportunity for socialization and a nice break from the routine of life.
But even among them, addiction can become a problem, and by the most basic definition, people who have a gambling problem are those who risk more than they can afford to lose.... many older people realize they have a problem when they start throwing away rent and medicine money.

However, as they generally depend on other people to control their finances or even get around, maintaining a gambling addiction ends up being something complicated because there will always be another person monitoring everything the elderly person does, and I think that's why the Gambling addiction is much lower for people at an older age.

Possibly, especially if I grow old to be that type of whiney grumpy old man that the little kids laugh about. See by then I figured I'd have a future that's set for me, money so I don't have to worry about retirement til I die, and possibly a family that I am proud of supporting me emotionally. Gambling would only come to my mind if I were as lonely as I am today. Plus it's a little unbecoming when you turn old and you're still busting your balls out gambling what little money you have left. Gambling I still may pick up on every now and again especially during out of towns, but that only involves trying out the general atmosphere and vibe of new-age casinos by then and not necessarily because gambling is still part of my life. So yeah, I hope that in the future when I'm old and gray, I don't have to gamble anymore.

I do not really see anything wrong with gambling at old age. If you do that responsibly and for fun without being addicted to the point of becoming a headache to your family then its okay as long as you are okay with it.To some point you should know when to call it a quit because at some stage at ones old age, you would not be able to engage in some kind of activities so it is better you start early enough to limit your gambling life style so as to enable do away with it at old age.

After all gambling is choice and a right of each person and no one can prohibit it.
There are quite a lot of people out there in old age who still carry out active gambling activities either using savings or money given to them by their children but this should be more strictly limited and controlled because it can also cause child misunderstanding of parent.
Wouldn't you also be little disappointed if you gave some money to your parents for the purpose of holding on when you wanted something to buy but instead the money was used for gambling.
Personally I would oppose what my parents did when they were still actively gambling but if it was just to get rid of the boredom of gambling once week or once month with small amount of money then it wouldn't be a problem that should be discussed.

It only can be in a situation where the old aged individuals are prohibited by the laws of their land to not take part in gambling then that is when we can say the aged can not gamble as a result of the existing laws of the land were they belong to.

Just as you have said, maybe some of the old aged do engage in gambling to avoid getting bored and as such, they would want to either go with their friends to casinos if they can or they gather together with their friends to gamble together.

Just as you have said, maybe some of the old aged do engage in gambling to avoid getting bored and as such, they would want to either go with their friends to casinos if they can or they gather together with their friends to gamble together.
