I doubt I will gamble in old age.  A big part of gambling is the fun for me and for that I have to watch the games and know the players.  I just don't see myself caring if history is any guide.  I used to watch all the sports but over the years things like strikes have led me to have less of an interest.  I barely ever see a football or baseball game these days.  I imagine someday I will also lose interest in following basketball or replace it with a different hobby that will make it so gambling for me would be less entertaining and thus I likely wouldn't participate.  Who knows though, maybe gambling will take over and we'll all be doing it everyday in the future.

I think I will continue at the age of 50-60 for sure because at that age you have more free time than before.
I also know myself that gambling is just a habit for me, I didn't reach the point where I became addicted to it,
I have self-discipline so I think I will continue gambling. My uncle is doing the same thing now, he is still gambling even though he is 54 and they just let him because they know that it is really just a habit of my uncle's
but it still depends on whether I'm still healthy or not.

My question is this, will you continue to gamble till old age, or you have planned to stop gambling at a certain age?
I don't see gambling as a source of revenue so I play games just because of fun. I have never had any health challenges because I lost large sums, this is because gambling has never been a financial source and my bets have never affected my finances negatively. Old age will not stop me from gambling because it is just fun for me. In old age, I will even have more time to properly analyze games and enjoy myself. I will have more time to watch more sports games and learn new sports. Retirement will bring boredom, and gambling can be part of my entertainment schedule.

Gambling has nothing to do with age obviously, I can even still see some 80/90+ man who like to gamble.
For me, I do not know when I will stop gamble, but I think I'll keep doing it as long as I can enjoy the fun of it eventhough I'm old enough.
It is something that can be planned indeed (lets say "I'll stop gamble at 50") but when I turn to 50, I may change this plan because I can still enjoy playing gambling games.
That are many gamblers in my location are above sixty and they are still gambling. And many of them show no sign of gambling addiction. Some of them are successful retirees who are just having fun and not money.

No, I won't do that, even though at that time I have enough time, I won't use that time to gamble because it's not the time anymore. During this period, it was time that I had to give to my family as atonement for the sins that I had neglected them because I was too busy with my work and the gambling activities that I did.

There is no time limit to the way I want to gamble,if gambling is good for me and my health, and it pays me,there is no big deal gambling till I get old,as long as I am earning a living through it.But this is just going to be impossible because gambling does not guarantee anyone regular winning,if you are lucky to win today, you may not be lucky tomorrow to win again, but we still keep trying for a better day that it will pay big, then one can say he or she has achieved Something from gambling, and put an end to it.But if one sees that gambling is his thing,he knows how to go about winning consistently, then it isnt a big deal sticking to it till you grow old.
When you are old, you really have to prepare everything, including a special budget that you provide in the form of savings or investments. And it's a bad thing if we think gambling is a job and how can we possibly believe in all that where "gambling is full of uncertainty".
When we are old, maybe we will no longer be able to do heavy activities or work that relies on physical work, so what you can do so that you can still have an income is to make an investment. And you can learn from now about what investments you will make and one of them is you can invest through crypto or bitcoin.

I recommend looking at those old people who are still engaged in gambling or any addiction they cannot seem to take off because it will help you to think whether your plan will work in the future or not. because when you are not aware of what's coming tomorrow, you don't really worry about it in fact you are just laughing at the other bad situations until you fall into the same hole as them. What I mean by my words is you cannot really determine if when you are that old, you can just easily follow your plans because when addictions catch you, you will bring those hobbies until the day you die. You better have something planned out when you cannot get out of it even when you get older than that.

There is a time for everything under the earth I don't think I would continue to gamble at old age even now that I am at an age very far above teenage I have began to limit the rate at which I gamble I started putting more effort or diversifying to full time trading, I think at old age sitting down to analyze games is a bad idea instead quit the art and enjoy a peaceful retirement and at old age we should be responsible in all our dealings it won't be proper for our kids to discover that we still gamble at old age or I can't imagine an old man going to a betting shop to play bet or gamble such a person might call an irresponsible elder.

As long as I'm having fun I will continue to gamble, gambling is a good stress reliever I love betting on horse racing and crash games and I feel excited all throughout my gambling session you just take it out of your life, and if you do you'll find yourself returning to it, so you cannot say with finality that you will still gamble at this age or at this date, you can stop for a while or take a vacation or rest for gambling but you will always remember the fun.
And that fun will lead you back to it.

Maybe the one who is so addicted to gambling can do that—the one who will always do it as long as there is money to gamble. When it's like that, it's like a pain. And I didn't plan to do that gambling until I was older. Maybe later on I will die unexpectedly from gambling. Maybe it's right that now I'm doing it just for fun; I'm fine with it.

As long as it doesn't cause harm to my family, as long as my loved ones don't see it, and only I know that I'm okay with what I'm doing, at least I'm still being a responsible gambler.

I will prefer to look for an alternative means to have fun.

I think this statement for those who don't gamble at all will be like seriously. I believe that people who feel they can't do without gambling as a means of relaxation and fun are driving into being addict or addict already.

Anyway, gambling till old age doesn't show you are a good planner. At least before old age, a gambler should have set him self up properly on other investment that will be generating money from. To stay as gambler till old age as a grandpa then what will the grand children will learn. No I don't think it is a good character to exhibit to the young people around .

I am not referring to addicted gamblers that will learn a hard lesson before the quit, but only responsible gamblers that are taking all prevention measures to addiction.
Yes I will gamble responsibly till old age. One of my dreams is to own a small local casino where senior citizens can come to pass time and play for fun with their friends and family. As you grow older your attitude towards money changes rapidly, you no see acquiring more money as a priority because at that point you just want to live, be happy and enjoy the rest of your life than to gamble to make money when you don't even know if you live to enjoy the money.

I would want older people to find companionship and friends in my small local casino because at old age people become so lonely and the world would seems to move fast ahead of them.

I will answer first.
I will love to quit gambling when I am 42yrs because I don't want to give gambling much time and I will prefer to look for an alternative means to have fun.
There is no problem if you take this decision on your own. It is free for all. Anyone can gamble anytime they want and can stop it if they want. As people grow older, their tastes will also change. Now he needs a lot of money in old age something else might be good. But those who enjoy gambling can do so even at an advanced age. Because people don't have any work when they are old. They have to focus on one thing to spend their time. From that point of view, I think not everyone can give up gambling. I have seen many people who are over 50 but still gamble. Since not everyone is the same, many will give up gambling and many will want to continue.

It's a hard question to answer on the currently moment, since we are talking about a period of time which goes beyond the next decades. We don't even know what we will be doing next year, so how can we reach to a concrete conclusion if we will be gambling in our elderlyhood? We are in constant changes. Like pre-socratic greek philosopher Heraclitus said: "No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man".

We aren't going to remain the same till old age. By there, we can develop another hobbies, dislike things we currently like and start liking others we never imaged we could enjoy.

I ask myself what made you set the 42 years old number... That is curious. Why not 41 or 43? Tongue

I was in the garden this evening and I was think on my bet that I placed on this evening game, then something came into my head like...are you going to gamble even when you are old, or you will quit gambling at a certain age.
This your question it's look like a rhetorical question because someone that like gambling has no specific time of quiting gambling but it is a perpetual activity of them. People gamble even in their old age but at that time they gambling rate has reduce to minimal level.

There are so many of us that are responsible gamblers and we only gamble to entertain ourselves not for making profit. Since gambling is done for fun, it becomes part of us, this is because we enjoy the fun, and some persons uses it to relieve them after a long day stress at work. We always assign some portion of our income for our gambling activities because it has become a habit in us. I know that some of us hasn't thought of quitting gambling because we are responsible gamblers.
Not all gamblers are fun and those that are fun are few but the ones that are for earning are more than fun gamblers, the responsible gamblers are equivalent to addicted gamblers because they are of the same line of action or gambling.

My question is this, will you continue to gamble till old age, or you have planned to stop gambling at a certain age?

This year you stated here is the climax or the peak of gambling. A responsible gambler as you Op put it cannot leave gambling at that age because that is the most active age of anything if the person is not sick. And as I said, the only thing that can remove gambling from some gamblers is just dead. And this just someone that is drinking and you set a time for him to quit drinking or smoking, it is not possible.

I will quite gambling when I do not see it as fun again. If I do not derive any fun from gambling, then why I mine gambling. This is not by age or anything than the fun that I am having when I am gambling.

If I have grown up, maybe I will quit gambling but I do not think so, especially if I still have the fun when I am doing it.

gambling is not wrong, even for people who are able if people are not able to why do they force themselves to enter or play gambling in the hope that they can provide victory, different things are heavy addicts and connoisseurs, in my opinion, a person who is heavily addicted to gambling will find it difficult to stop gambling even though he is old or no longer young, this is not a good thing if an old person is still addicted to gambling, obviously this is a bad impact. but for an addict who is thirsty and greedy for victory, it will not be easy to stop gambling even though he is old or no longer young, But for a connoisseur or someone who plays with gambling he considers gambling just for fun he can control his lust and emotions when gambling, but for an addict who is thirsty and greedy for victory it will not be easy to stop betting he can do many things to do gambling even if it's a bad thing.

I think everyone knows the bad effects of gambling, not a few people can control their emotions and lust in gambling and vice versa, if you are a heavy addict then do you have a sense of wanting to stop gambling? or will wait for the moment that will make you realize the bad effects of gambling.

Of course, but as a hobby only, I am not going to waste a lot of money, especially at my age, and if I just have a good fortune at that age, I will never ever waste money if I don't have the capability to do so. Gambling will be a good and entertaining thing to do as you get older, playing with friends or with your family, simply playing card games, and such. Anyway, yeah, I will still gamble, but not too much.
I actually usually do admire elders when I see them gather together in a local casino in my area here to gamble, they usually order alot of bear, chanting and laughing, using the opportunity to discuss a whole lots of issues patterning to our country, they discuss politics, education, pension, whatever, I love to sit around them and just watch them play while discussing all of this, I usually learn many things..

So yeah, for me, I look forward to that time when I will once in a while come together with my friends as oldies, we gamble, chat and chant, it will be so fun I swear 😂.
Mate, you must be used to those old people gambling in your area and from the way that you sound, it shows that they are having fun and at the same time engaging in real discussions about what is happening in your country, and this shows that you really admire them which has made you feel that you can have such fun at old age too. It is fun to gamble at old age as long as you are doing it to pass time and you afford the money to gamble and it wouldn't be a problem to you. As for now, I can't tell if I will continue gambling till old age or not but when the time comes, I will know. We can decide something today and tomorrow we see ourselves doing the opposite, so let tomorrow speak for itself but presently, I will still be gambling.

I will stop when I want but I don't know when I will stop. Maybe soon or a long time ago, I don't know. I still love gambling as before and have no plans to stop. During this time, I can still be responsible in gambling and not try to chase victory because I know it will be difficult for me. To reduce his gambling activities, I try to use other activities to distract myself, which works for me. So as long as I still enjoy gambling, I will probably still gamble and when the time comes, I will stop gambling and do other activities.
As long as you still have money and play responsibly that's good because most people play irresponsibly so they easily follow their emotions and are always greedy in playing, that's why it will be difficult to stop this behavior if it is not accompanied by feelings of responsibility, for example playing with wisely set a budget for gambling and limit the budget when to stop gambling.

I also often feel like that when I feel like I'm really enjoying the game, sometimes I forget to stop playing, but it still hasn't reached my weekly gambling budget limit, so I often forget myself when gambling and I'm sure everyone has felt the same way. that, but as long as you can control yourself and play responsibly there won't be any problems.

It's possible to quit gambling if you are not already an addicted gambler, as my good turns to better in the future I might see no reason to go back into gambling, maybe once in a while compared to weekly gambling.

Also at a old age, you should be enjoying the rest of days with your retirement fund, gambling at a old age doesn't looks cool for me, and since gambling knows no age I believe many people won't see any reason to quit.

If people can quit their jobs to enjoy their old ages then gambling should be one of the easiest thing to quit, a fact about gambling still stands, it's all about making more money, either you gamble weekly, or more, fun is just a tip part of gambling, but for many gamblers, they want to see how lucky they can get.

If you know how to manage your finances very well, you can decide to quit anything or do anything you like.
