Well, by the looks of it the "weekly" challenge is actually weekly and will continue to happen for a little more while. I do not really think that windice will ever learn what the real deal was about during the competitions and one of the biggest reasons why their momentum got so slow when it was moving faster and faster higher.

Hopefully, one day they will learn it and change the way they approach it or maybe it was only because they were new and they were aggressive about marketing. Do not get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with windice as it is, however it was much much better back in the day, so compared to other casinos windice is still good, compared to themselves 8 months ago they are a lot needs to fix honestly, which is the whole complaint is, we know you guys are capable of better.

Will this "weekly" challenge gonna be something that will happen every week? Also why is it suddenly 0.025 instead of the usual 0.2 you guys distribute?

When you distribute 0.025 around it becomes something very very tiny for everyone involved, the first will have 0.01 and the second gets 0.005. Do not get me wrong both of those amounts are a great deal to me but I am pretty sure people who have wagered 30+ bitcoin to get the 0.2 will not be really happy about getting 0.025 in return.

This is quite understandable from the fact that you are not getting anything but complaints for the recent while as well. If I was windice I would ask the marketing person what they are doing and why is the interest not going up while they are giving away money as well, shouldn't really happen.

I think whoever worked for stake/primedice a year ago is now working for windice as well, these are literally the exact same type of challenges that saw stake get worse and worse and people gambling there less, it attracted a specific niche type of players but since it wasn't a general type of thing the overall wagering number dropped while there was a lot of people who joined these contests.

Do you know how you attract more people and create more buzz about your website? If you donate to a women's help cause type of thing globally with some sort of competition and the profits of that competition going to that charity. That way if the gambler wins they win, if they lose the money goes to a charity related to women. You don't celebrate women by rolling a 2003 dice, sorry.

Well, if someone who wagered 0.9 BTC within 5 days takes only 10th place in the wagering contest

things are not that bad for WinDice, I would say.

They normally have less tan 200 players online, as far as I can tell, but, on the other hand, more than 2k unique players were online during the past 5 days. Not that bad for a relatively new gambling site, imo.

~But overall I think that if 1% of the wagered amount was guaranteed for the top 30 winners, the contest would attract much more people, and, at the same time, returning the house edge wouldn't be a big deal for the site. Am I wrong?
I doubt that 1% would ever be guaranteed for the winners because at the end windice is still making a profit and the gamblers still gamble way more than they should on a competition like this as well and not even just here, in other places as well.
~

It's true that some gamblers will take part in the competition no matter what, but it is also true that these days more and more gamblers apply some kind of analysis when deciding on which site to play. Make house edge 2% instead of 1% and, theoretically, it will be more profitable, but in practice, who will play on your site then?

The same rule can be applied to the wagering contest. Yes, it would be less profitable for WD if 1% of the wagered amount was guaranteed for the top 30 winners, but being unprecedented case, in a nice way, it could attract many new users.

RodolMan was expected to lose 0.3 BTC because of the house edge, while the prize was only 0.1 BTC.
At the times when contest was live, I checked under "highrollers", RodolMan was rushing with 0.02 BTC as the basebet at the last hours of contest. How it would be possible for a gambler to keep on betting with higher amounts without bothering about negative rolls. I checked for a while and I never saw any red for him. Seemed like a luckiest whale. (Just sharing what I had observed).

Thank you for sharing your observations! Well, it is very likely then that this particular player was in a good profit from participating in the wagering contest. But overall I think that if 1% of the wagered amount was guaranteed for the top 30 winners, the contest would attract much more people, and, at the same time, returning the house edge wouldn't be a big deal for the site. I remember there was a stakes race where dude wagered 184 bitcoins total and the closest competition was 4! So, as you can see some people will win the  competition no matter what. I guess they would gambled anyway so they just gamble a bit more during the competition and think that is fine and don't mind it.

rodolman is a big whale that can afford to lose 30 btc and still wouldn't be out in the streets with huge loans he can't pay and goes hungry and homeless. If I ever had 30 bitcoin debt... well I couldn't ever get 30 bitcoin into debt because nobody would even give me 30 bitcoin since they would know there is no way I can pay that back with this little amount of money I make.
Rodolman is probably not a poor person to begin with, if he wagers 30+ bitcoins that means he is a rich person anyway and losing some money wouldn't hurt him as much as it would hurt you or me.

Looking at the current contest there is someone already making a lead and at 8.2 bitcoins, even with that dude is literally risking enough to actually not make a profit but with the results I am 100% sure it will be over the estimated profit line once again.

Considering competition should be making them a profit, I wonder why windice gave a break to making these, I mean when you calculate the last one was literally 30 bitcoins and had a wagering house edge estimate of 0.3 loss, I don't know if they made any profit or not on that one but that was the expected result and even if they didn't profit from that one, if they kept it up more frequently they would eventually profit on average. They are the ones running the casino and they must know something we don't see or know about.

^^ Yeah, there is doubtfully any other explanation, rodolman is a big whale that can afford to lose 30 btc and still wouldn't be out in the streets with huge loans he can't pay and goes hungry and homeless. If I ever had 30 bitcoin debt... well I couldn't ever get 30 bitcoin into debt because nobody would even give me 30 bitcoin since they would know there is no way I can pay that back with this little amount of money I make.

So, whales do gamble with money they can afford to lose when they want to, rodolman is one of them, go around the casino world of crypto and check all competitions and you will see many like rodolman who wagers a ton more than anyone of their competitions.

^^^ Lost all my balance while trying hit that 3333x on Crash.  Grin

Anyways, I never risk more than I can afford to lose, so no worries.

Happy Birthday, WinDice! Keep up the great work! Smiley

@Betwrong you have spoken like an experienced gambler, and I hope those who read your post will follow this golden rule. Also a belated Happy Birthday to Windice, and I wish team Windice good luck for the entire year ahead.

I see these contests as something gamblers would already play anyway and that is why they do not care about the house edge parts. That or maybe they continue as long as the profit is there, so maybe rodolman gambled 30+ all because he gambled and was in profit and wanted to keep going as high as he can to win it while staying in profit as well, maybe he would have stopped if he was in minus but with the reward and all dude was making profit so decided not to stop.

Either of those options must be the reason because no other sane person would both lose money all that much, care about it deeply and still continue to wager that much. So, either rich person or a lucky gambler.

@darewaller many of these gamblers only care to top the table and for them this is surplus money which they can afford to loose, also I believe that’s the case out here but then again I could be wrong too maybe he’s a whale (high possibility) so let’s wait for different analysis of this gambler.

But it's okay, it's been fun overall. Saw many 200x+ along the way, and the highest payout I saw was this one:

If only I bet on 1450x!
