First of all Xapo is not only a wallet, they offer other services and business is regulated by different laws and regulations, like the one that reffers to anti-money laundering. If Xapo realy holds the coins there must be a serious reason for it, like violations of some rules and laws or problems with your ID and other documentation. I'm sure that if you contact the support they will clear up the situation.

I don't have any trust to this web wallets that has no fees. And I would like to recommend Blockchain web wallet, and mycelium if you're a smartphone user because all this web wallets without fees are questionable why they do this service for free without charge whats the good benefits to them. So don't ask if one day they will become scam.

If you don't want to follow their bullshit TOS, then don't use XAPO. There plenty others our there. I never liked XAPO anyway. Can't deny that transferring bitcoins without a fee is a good feature though.

If i were to use an online wallet, it would be blockchain. Nothing else.

Hire me for your campaign management.
I also now not have any trust on xapo, as they will lock your account and will freeze your funds without any reason and will ask for to provide your documents which is against the anonymity of bitcoin. try to choose blockchain that is looking as more reliable.

I've been using xapo wallet for a long time but I did not encounter any problems . I think before entering some online wallet you should check how it works cause almost all online wallets has their own way of protecting their clients coins

Same happened to me. Xapo locked my verified account without showing any reason. Scam company  Angry

Scam? They are just being careful with the users to avoid criminal misuse.

After having 1 BTC on Xapo they also locked my accounted. After uploading proof of address and verifying my name the account was unlocked instantly. I don't believe they delete your account and take your money.

The thing is... my Xapo wallet still works fine. Granted, I don't have anything close to 1BTC in it... in fact, it barely has close to 0.001BTC Tongue

But I can still log in and send/receive bitcoins to the account. So what is happening here, is that a few users (I think there was more than one?) are having some issues with Xapo, and throwing around SCAM accusations, because they're upset at the poor service and that their bitcoins are unavailable to them. Fact of the matter is, Paypal freezes peoples accounts all the time and people don't label them a scam. Annoying and shitty? yes... scam? no.

If they have blocked the OPs account because he violated the ToS, well... then it depends on exactly what ToS they are claiming he violated. If they're playing the "issue violations on technicalities" game, and failing to provide any sort of customer service to help resolve the issue, then that sucks and shows poor management and customer service on Xapo's part... but that doesn't make them a scam. It makes them a crappy Bitcoin wallet.

Yes. This is what happened basically. XAPO is not a scam wallet, they are far away from being one, as far as I am aware.
But XAPO customers are blindly believing that their bitcoins are not being 'regulated' by XAPO internal set of rules - clearly presented in their ToS.
And later when someone's account is suspended because he broke some 'stupid' rule (probably without even realizing it) he cries and call it a scam.

Any new user should take a look at the website first before using it. Especially with all these high profile names involved with xapo I believe they will try everything to avoid illegal activities. The negative PR would cost them more than earning on the site.

If there is sufficient evidence behind this accusation then I would recommend that this wallet be removed from bitcoin.org

I've been using Bitcoins for about 2 weeks now... it only took me about 1 week to realise that online wallets are a "Bad Idea"™

It is mentioned in quiet a few places, including the description of this sub-board:

Quote
Discussion about online wallets. Warning: online wallets are banks that you are trusting -- for a trustless wallet, you need to run your own wallet software.

Without access to your private keys, you don't own anything. Essentially, you have an account with a 3rd party who let you move some of 'their' bitcoins around, based on how much you have 'given' to them to hold for you. You have no real control and no real comeback should they get hacked/disappear/freeze your account/take your coins/have technical issues/go on holiday...

Like a lot of things in life, prior results are not an indication of future performance. Just because you haven't had issues with a service for the last X days/months/years... does not mean that everything will be working tomorrow (or this afternoon). Look at how long HashOcean was 'running'... long enough for 700,000 people to cash in. How long did it take to disappear? A few mouse clicks.

In my view, online wallets, who don't provide private keys, are just as risky as handing over your bitcoins to any given cloudmining/HYIP/ provider. You are essentially giving your money to a 3rd party and trusting that they will not run off with it.

I have found it really depends where you live how much problems you have.I am from the UK that is quite bitcoin friendly so I have no problems. Some guys from places not so bitcoin friendly can have a lot of problems
you completely misjudged, OP is trying to aware us from using xapo like online wallets which can simply block you. There is no any link between legality or federal regulation affecting this types of banneds in most of the cases. Using hardware wallet or storing bitcoin in paper wallet generated offline till you use them, may be good option rather than storing huge amount in this online wallets.

Did you just sign up to post this here?

So many People have no Problems with XAPO at all. I just can't believe they would actually take your Balance away.

Do you still have Access to your wallet? Is the Balance 0 or the account just locked?
