At this point almost 1/2 the stolen NXT has been returned to BTER. Let's hope it's all returned soon and they can put this behind them and focus on the XCR launch.

FYI. The Bter hacker has sent more of the stolen NXT back to Bter. Seems there's some backroom dealings going on.

@SyRenity, do you have a plan to set a high security when withdrawing thounds of coin , avoid some things like NXT hacker ?
As we suggested before, we strongly recommend enabling the second pass phrase.
This will ensure that even if someone breaks into your account, he still will need the second pass phrase to get any funds (think of it as a pin code for lost ATM card).
The second pass phrase can be as long as needed, and naturally should be stored in a separate location than your account password (as you wouldn't store pin code with the ATM card).

Bter worked with a testnet node so far, which was based on testing genesis block.
They now received a mainnet node, with a real genesis block, and with some (minor) API corrections. They need to ensure their developed integration on testnet works fine in mainnet as well, and they also want to move all genesis XCR's to a cold wallet (to make sure the NXT scenario is not possible again).
This all takes time, and they naturally were very busy with the security matters. They told us they will be able to start working today on this, and we are waiting for this work to start.

The hacker has rejected the 300 BTC from BTER. He wants more.

Is there still time for that? I think that is only an option until they hit a certain block? And it's less a rollback, and more just sort of pruning, if I recall correctly.
If it was up to me, I'd just go that route. NXT is sort of wrecked either way ... might as well choose the option that is the least damaging.
Bter should never have begun any negotiation with the hacker. To do so, just encourages others. The proper response would be to roll back the blockchain immediately, and let either the gangsters or the police handle it, depending upon which country he is in. The hacker should not get any reward for his crime.
The proper response to any attack, is to immediately counter attack with full force and ability.

We are working on a solution to secure out BTC with BTER. BTER did not want to break the terms of the escrow they signed with users and we are working on a solution.
We also have all of the data from BTER in regards to who holds how much XCR. If for some reason they do collapse, we would come up with a solution to distribute ourselves.
All of this should be avoided however as I believe we are on good terms and have a good understanding right now with BTER. At this point, they need to launch Crypti to help build back up their reputation and show they aren't going anywhere.

You have a list of XCR holders? What is the key for listing each owner, as we dont have XCR wallets yet. Does it list by Bter account number? If that is the case, every one needs to copy down their account number. If Bter goes dark, that may be lost.
We are trying to figure out if there is a way we could use the BTER data (which yes, it is account number based) to distribute ourselves in the case of BTER collapsing just to be safe. We don't have an exact solution yet as the hard part is determining how to associated a BTER account with an actual person. BTER can't give us email addresses as that would be a privacy issue (which we haven't asked), so we are open to any ideas.
Hopefully it will never get to that point, but we would rather be prepared in the case that it does. BTER has already stated they don't have the funds to cover the loss themselves.
I have a solution:
You have the account IDs + the XCR amount for that account.
Let everyone write down their account ID + the amount of XCR they have on that account. You create an email address where the data can be sent.
So you can correlate the email accounts to the bter IDs.
Now you can distribute XCR the way NXT was distributed.

Also, I realize recovering the stolen NXT is of paramount importance, but rewarding this hacker POS with 200 BTC sets a horrendous precedent. I hope this scumbag is found and is injected with ebola then thrown into a sea of AIDS. That's my 2 satoshis.

I would not mistreat him in that way. However I think he should be forced to listen to evangelist preachers on television for a few days. That would drive anyone intelligent crazy after 10 minutes or so.
Edit: Now I think about it, the petty psychiatrist charged with caring for Hannibal Lector in Silence of the Lambs forced Hannibal to watch TV preachers by way of punishment. A truly dreadful form of torture for anyone with a three digit IQ. I resolutely oppose torture in all its heinous forms, even in relation to people who are alleged to have acted unlawfully.
I add, amending my profile of the hacker, that he may be Canadian. A website known as the sir.com apparently based in Canada appears to provide training telecommunications related activities. Electronic engineers who specialise in telecoms tend to have reasonable hacking abilities. There is also a company in Germany known as Sircom that makes electronics.

I don't see why Bter wouldn't give you XCR holders Bter account number + Bter username???
Both together should be good enough to distribute the XCR to holders if Bter goes down

I hope BTER will let the devs go live this evening by enabling the distribution to wallets if that is what investors choose to do.
Yes if Bter wants to save whatever trust they still have in them... They need to make this Crypti launch happen... Crypti launch going off with out further delay may help save Bter as an exchange
