Woohoo! I'm receiving tons of messages. I'll respond to each of them so you know your entry has been acknowledged.

If you don't get a response, you can resend.

But it's too crazy now. I will respond in four hours' time or sooner.

1) Use XChat to send a message to:
       Address:     XDzTA6xMsx1FJkitgKaj3S9mMvPQEzN4w9
       Public key:  eRyb6fBBZxfkVp1kLcgc81WQuZw8pgpPwkVfKNhJBHBC

(If you don't have XChat yet, ]download it here.)

So, I downloaded that, but instead it downloaded a second XC wallet for me, and started downloading the entire blockchain again.  There didn't appear to be XChat in it.  What gives?  Huh

Go to the official website, go to downloads, and download the setup.exe file. This has the messaging in the wallet.

Is there any documentation avail yet on how to use the XChat feature?  Sorry if already asked, I could not find.

1. On the "Receive Coins" tab, create a new address and label it "Chat" or something.

2. Copy your address and paste it into the "from" field on the "Messages" tab (use the "paste" icon to the right of the field).

3. Copy someone's address and paste it into the "to" field (use the icon again).

4. Copy someone's public key and paste it into the "key" field.

5. Write a message.

P.S. Fully unlock your app before doing all this.

ok, i've totally been resisting technology for MANY moons but with the hope of a TOR stick signed by Dan i find myself up for the headache ...i did #1, don't see a messages tab, under "receive coins" i hit "sign message" tab but don't see "from", "to", and "key" fields ...sorry, plz advise.

You need to be on the latest test wallet that actually has a messages tab at the top.
thought i did, downloaded from arlyns "download xchat" link this morning. under programs it looks like i have version 2.47d ...downloads on xc website are not self explanatory considering my technological ineptitude.

I just downloaded the setup.exe which has chat included in it, if thats any help.

so website, downloads, and the just download setup.exe
teehee, getting closer! thanks, you guys.

if you wanna test the chat, send me a message on the address I posted a few posts ago Wink

You should also put it in your sig too.  Help spread the words!   and... it's needed to have a chance to win the Tor stick.

Will do.  Wink

Did you get my reply?

Yup, can't wait for the notifications to be added in.   Then the chatting will just be like Skype, but private. Wink
stuck again, how do i get a public key?

Right click on your chat address and click "copy public key" then past it wherever )in your sig along with your chat address. make sure your chat address isn't the one with coins in it.
i just tried sending msgs to arlyn and g-bert ...did either receive?

Sorry, went down the shop. Yes, received & replied.
i have not received your reply, is there a trick to it?

***The XC Daily Update***

Soon XC will add a new layer of privacy based on your XChat address.

XChat addresses are soon to be implemented as "stealth addresses" to which people can send payments.

This means that you'll receive payment on a different address that not even the sender knows.

As such, you can publicly display your XChat address as a kind of cryptographic "business card" for both payments and messages, without anything being linked to it on the blockchain!

Finally, combining this with Privacy Mode will conceal the amounts sent to this address.

Here's to the future!

***Win an XC TOR Stick signed by Dan Metcalf!***

Here's your chance to win the industry-leading privacy tool signed by its incredible developer!

How to win:

When the XC Bitcointalk thread reaches page 1000, do the following:

1) Use XChat to send a message to:
       Address:     XDzTA6xMsx1FJkitgKaj3S9mMvPQEzN4w9
       Public key:  eRyb6fBBZxfkVp1kLcgc81WQuZw8pgpPwkVfKNhJBHBC

(If you don't have XChat yet, ]download it here.)

2) Post the address you sent the message from onto the Official XC Forum here.

The competition will run for 24 hours from the time of the first post on page 1000.

The winner will be decided upon by a suitably random method. If needs be, a video or other means of proof will be posted to establish the randomness of the selection.

Wo... that is pretty awesome stuff right there.   You mean it can be like a public stealth address that I don't even have to regen every time?   That blows all the other coins that requires "stealth" addresses....
