WTF with the price?

Major support at 150000 satoshis pulled.

Monero is behind BitcoinDark in market cap. Check www.coinmarketcap.com

Behind in price does not equal being behind.
Why are you fighting?
Dark and Monero arent enemies

ah, I see. My sig gave you the implication that i was fighting, when my comment was in support of XMR.

I'll remember to add an extra sentence or two to explain myself better next time.

I'm not going to spend any of my XMR at a loss.

What would happen if at this price someone sell like 2000 XMR?

On Polo, it would go to 0.00134111 based on the current orderbook. Use the estimate trading feature on bitcoinwisdom to show the effect.

21 million. I want them all.
Last 24 hours 120k Moneros was traded. That can be compared with best days. When price was 3 times higher that was 500 btc.

But no matter the price and reward decreasing, Hash rate is still over 15 MH/s, what is more than half of the maximum ever.

After seeing emission rate, everyone was able to see that there was tiny chance that Monero would gain nice price till this end of year and those low chance was for long time actually on sight. But then also it was seen there is tiny chance that price would not be much higher at end of next year. At some point next year it will just happen the Monero hunger. When? Who knows.

Is there a list or directory of businesses using Monero? I would like to understand the business demand for the currency. Thank you!

Usage is great, and DirectBet seems to be on the cusp. This would be a big win for XMR, in my opinion, would be translation and additional interest to non-English communities

Big thanks to all responsible for mymonero.com. It's a great service for the community.

One question though:

If for some reason mymonero.com stops working, what would be the procedure for importing private key into simplewallet ? I guess private key is called "spend" key in mymonero.com ? Also there is "view" key. What is that?

Put your Spend, View, and Public key in an encrypted document with a strong password. The view key allows you to let someone else view your balance without giving them your spend key. Cryptography is cool.

Already did that, of course. But I was wondering if site goes offline for some reason and I need to fallback to simplewallet again, what would I need to do in order to import my key ("spend key" I guess?) back into simplewallet ?

Or is it maybe login key (word sequence) enough to recover whole wallet ? Can I start simplewallet with those as starting arguments?

I would personally love a (temptative) development road map. Doesn't need to be very precise, but I am sure the devs have some rough goals in terms of timing, and it would be very positive to know them.

Most, if not all "Roadmaps" by coins so far have been nothing but promises; we aren't a fan of that.
The missives state what we work on and also what comes next, giving timelines helps no one.

I didn't mean the usual "Pump roadmap" you can see in most of the alts. I hope you're not fan of that, neither I am.
But something much more general would be useful, here I disagree with you that it helps no one.
If we want an economy to build around, boosted by technical projects, there got to be a little bit of info for them, even if completely indicative. For instance knowing a rough schedule for the multisig implementation is useful to develop services that might use it. A rough schedule can be just "probably closer to 6 months than to 2 months".
The community is smart enough to know it's all temptative, you shouldn't be scared to say what are your feelings. The core team cannot develop an entire ecosystem, you got to give a minimal info to potential innovators around you at one point.

As a fellow newcomer to Monero, I welcome your views Cheesy

Many in the old guard are quite hurt now. They believed in Monero so much as to throw the risk management out of the window in investing.

Some stuff is progressing more slowly than anticipated and Bitcoin price is not at $5,000 as it "should" be. Wealth is decimated and feelings also.

A newcomer can now make incredible bargains. When I started in May, the price was between 0.002-0.010 and volumes were so small that acquiring a BTC100 stash took several weeks. At these prices, not only is BTC100 much less, also you get more XMR  Cheesy

as for you ,darkcoin can not be the rival of monero .i advise counterparty will do some fuss here .but,i still believe in monero

I ask readers to embrace newcomers with patience.

This.

There are a considerable amount of new posters here. This is new blood flowing into our community. This is proof monero is alive and well.

The old(and getting-old)timers are so dismayed about the price that we don't even care about price anymore. (Bring it on bitches  Tongue)

But, it's only natural for these new members to talk price. Everyone remembers what this and related threads were like when we went sub 20k.

Anyways,

If any one of the core devs asks me to stop posting, I will not post again in this thread.

I see no reason to ask you to stop posting.

Your comments have been substantive. As you say, you haven't always gotten everything right but you seem to be trying to understand the coin, both the good and the bad. Even negative views (and I'm not saying your views are overall negative) are welcome if they are thoughtful and not obnoxious.

Welcome, and please excuse the thick skin we can exhibit at times. All coins are attacked by shills and trolls and this one has been attacked very harshly and repeatedly. If you understand where we have come from, you can perhaps understand some of the impatience and frustration better. It isn't personal.

- This repeated price discussion (incl. negative interpretations) are always brought up from random accounts, outside of the XMR community or the small group of long-time trusted and respected altcoin posters/knowhow carrier/opinion leader.

- After reading like 10 posts from him. I figured out, that the account "jehst", is either doing some kind of advanced trolling (act) or is just a very bad poster.
Who is only able to produce stupid claims, wrong arguments, while showing no kind of intelligence, know-how or research (which leads to more unrelevant questions and statements, time wastement, misinformation of people, who try to learn and understand something in these threads, ...)

One way or another his account should be ignored by everybody. I add him now to my ignore list.

I disagree. I liked his fresh-eyes comments on Monero.
Anyway, no need to be so harsh in your words.

I've been involved in Monero for a short time so I don't know everything. What factually incorrect statements I've made have been redacted with the helpful guidance of others. I thank everyone for their patience and honesty.

If any one of the core devs asks me to stop posting, I will not post again in this thread.

I ask readers to embrace newcomers with patience. Put yourself in the position of one who never followed altcoins and never wanted anything to do with altcoins. Learning about the Cryptonote family alone and its long, varied history is almost overwhelming.

If you've been living and breathing alts for years, everything must be so much clearer.

Yeah, it's exactly like this. Many coins are attacked by paid trolls, so legit newcomers are treated badly. And this turns them away and the trolls achieve their objective in weakening a coin.

In the CryptoKingdom game, there are no trolls so everyone can just play without interruption. It's quite nice. I bet you could also get hooked if I gave you the starting capital 10 XMR, required to buy your first house!  Grin
