after beeing unable to sync, I deleted the complete blockchain yesterday and it worked afterwards. however, today, the same problem appeared:

Code:
2014-Jun-29 22:59:23.080790 [P2P1][194.150.103.58:18080 OUT]Sync data returned unknown top block: 106607 -> 107262 [655 blocks (0 days) behind]

2014-Jun-29 22:59:33.611393 [P2P2][194.150.103.58:18080 OUT]Block verification failed, dropping connection

this is beeing spammed all over again. I can't completely resync every day...

bump!

Code:
2014-Jun-30 01:04:09.247883 [P2P3]ERROR c:\temp\monero\git\bitmonero-master-x86\contrib\epee\include\net\abstract_tcp_server2.inl:257 Exception at [connection::handle_read], what=bad allocation

blockchain is 1.18GB, free space is around 100GB...

Are you getting "block verification" failed messages from all your P2P connections then? One or two giving that message shouldnt stop you syncing, it just means they arent in sync with the rest of the network. From your log above it looks like at least P2P1 is trying to sync good data to you.

Something else you can try is deleting your p2pstate.bin file (stop bitmonerod first), that will force it to get a new list of P2P nodes, which will hopefully be better behaved.

I havent seen that protocol_handler error msg before, but it does generate a lot of them as usually they arent serious...

I already tried deleting the p2pstate.bin file, but it didnt help. and yes, the failed messages are all over the place. This started two days ago, before that, everything was ok for weeks. actually, the longer i leave bitmonerod open in that state, the more blocks are missing. for example, it start syncing with 700 blocks left, and after a while (and a lot of those errors), it says 704 blocks left.

yvg1900 & dga: moneropool.com is using a public Anti-DDOS-Proxy/Provider. It's IP is probably shared with other 10000000 sites. So reason is pretty unlikely to be related with Monero or Crypto-Currencies.

Yep, we already figured out that they blacklisted nearly entire CloudFlare infrastructure...

And of course.... yvg1900 is just lying.

The requested IP address is not blacklisted  http://eais.rkn.gov.ru/en/#form

moneropool.com is not blacklisted lmao....nice try troll.

Perhaps you should consider applying a little bit of thought before accusing someone of flat-out lying.

Code:
$ host moneropool.com
moneropool.com has address 108.162.197.24
moneropool.com has address 108.162.196.24

108.162.197.24:
Code:
The requested address is blacklisted
Blacklisting authorization date Blacklisting authorization number Blacklisting decision maker Blacklisting date
22.01.2014 2/1/11-16190 ФCКH 28.03.2014

108.162.196.24:
Code:
The requested address is blacklisted
Blacklisting authorization date Blacklisting authorization number Blacklisting decision maker Blacklisting date
22.01.2014 2/1/11-16190 ФCКH 28.03.2014

moneropool.com:
Code:
The requested IP address is not blacklisted

So, if you apply brain before being a jerk, you might observe that what yvg1900 posted is correct:  The IP address is blacklisted.

This definitely seems like something that moneropool.com should file a complaint about to ensure that their pool is usable by everyone.

Thanks, I didn't know that the refresh has to be done manually.
So everything's fine now!

Does your daemon synchronizes?

Hi,

I just compiled bitmonerod and simplewallet and for warm-up did some small transaction back and forth between my wallet and poloniex. Works a charm :-)

Now, my problem: after a while, bitmonerod throws lots of error msgs like this:

..../bitmonero/contrib/epee/include/net/abstract_tcp_server2.inl:307 send que size is more than ABSTRACT_SERVER_SEND_QUE_MAX_COUNT(100), shutting down connection

I wouldn't care really, but I suspect this has something to do for one of my transactions from poloniex to my wallet not showing up in my wallet for more than an hour.
When I restarted bitmonerod and simplewallet, my missing transaction was there imediately, so it looks like the daemon (bitmonerod) "hang" somehow...

Any hints, maybe I should configure something in a certain way to reduce probability of such hangs?

Thanks!
There is no connection between this error message and your transaction from poloniex. Ignore the error. Enter 'refresh' in the wallet (after your daemon is synchronized) and if your transaction is not there (and in the blockchain - monerochain.info) contact poloniex support with the details.

Thanks, I didn't know that the refresh has to be done manually.
So everything's fine now!

Thanks Aminorex. Its good to see that healthy debate and constructive critticism are welcomed here. In my opinion being able to acknowledge areas of deficiency is a critical first step in improving. Much better than pretending everything is great and getting stomped by competitors.

This is pretty much the manifestation of my concerns in one post. XMR needs to be so easy to use that we no longer need to watch this forum for help from people trying to do basic things like store their money in a wallet or transfer it. The faster Monero reaches that level of one click usability, the more likely it will be that it succeeds.

Keep your eyes open, fellas.
I am an investor who has bought heavily into xmr.
I asked a question in this thread, and didn't get an answer.
You guys have to be on the alert for the opportunity to reach out to people like me.
I asked a question that was so simple it was apparently worth ignoring in the high level discussion going on here.
If I can't get up to speed on the wallet I then must choose between leaving my holdings on an exchange into the indeterminate future or dumping, which is bad for me and bad for everybody else.
Please make monero useful to people who know less than you do.  It shouldn't be beneath you to give a beginner a helping hand.

Thank you, Mumbles, for voicing these constructive concerns.  In my experience the core devs are quite diligent in monitoring these matters, and prioritize them carefully.  You can be assured that the software is progressing well, and the foundations for ease of use are already coming together, although the end applications will take a long time to achieve their full potential.  iPod usability is not something that just falls from the sky.  There is a lot of carefully managed complexity under the veneer of exquisitely designed usability.  I think that in XMR, so much is at stake that the happy end-point is quite sufficiently motivated.  You can have confidence that it will arrive, although perhaps not as quickly as you would like. Do please contribute your own efforts and other forms of support, including constructive criticism, on an ongoing basis!

moneropool.com blacklisted and blocked in Russia by government.

Can be checked by entering its IP address at http://eais.rkn.gov.ru/en/ (blocked by IP address)

I think owner of moneropool.com shall file complain to them.

OK. Disclaimer: I have never tried this myself. But if you have your virgin snapshot and still want to try it:

Code:
sudo apt-get install gcc-4.8-base

Not sure if this will deinstall 4.9, though. Try the gcc --version again after apt-get is finished.

Edit: You may have to do the same with g++-4.8
Meanwhile I deinstalled 4.9, installed 4.8 and got: a complete mess. Arrgh!

Anyway, never surrender.
I'll just unpack a new virgin and play with it.
So far, many thanks for your suggestions. Once I have results, whether positive or negative, I'll get back here.

Your compiler complains about lines that it should not complain about. Are you using a gcc version 4.8 or higher? What is the output of
Code:
gcc --version
?
I get this:
Quote
gcc (Ubuntu 4.9-20140406-1ubuntu1) 4.9.0 20140405 (experimental) [trunk revision 209157]

That... looks kind of cool. Did you compile gcc yourself? All I can say is that
Code:
gcc (Ubuntu 4.8.1-2ubuntu1~12.04) 4.8.1
works for me. If it isn't too much of a hassle, you could try to downgrade maybe?
Okay, I'll try that.
But...
How can I downgrade? I still a noob.
Thanks for your help.
