Bitmonerod is maxing out my upstream bandwidth (800kbps).  Is there a way to limit this?

I think people should read a few of these from the start to finish then decide if XMR-Monero is a good investement:

Monero ANN : https : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/xmr-monero-a-secure-private-untraceable-cryptocurrency-583449

GreekBitcoin : https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/greekbitcoin-26690

Theres one more link if someone can post about the Collaboration Code Review from Github on all the fixes and tweaks to the code

That is just off the top of my head, we all know that Cryptonote coins are fairly young and there will be issues but nothing imo that is worrying.

Haters going to hate ..

The continued lifting of Monero to new heights in the voting list is inspirational!

To support your loyal community we decided to create an original and recognizable image. It needs a name, and it's up to you to come up with something suitably memorable for the guy! Grin
Monero is now in the top 10 and your active voting will most likely put it in the lead sooner or later.

Haters gonna hate. Weaklings and newbies gonna whine. Greedy people gonna FUD and opportunists of any kind gonna short XMR. In the end,  only three things matter:
- Attack is a flattery. No one attacks a failed coin.
- Focus on what really matters. That is,  what you are the best at.
- Don't feed the troll. If a troll thinks we are "disappointed",  he will shout "touché"  and continue.

Also, here are some helpful links. Attack may be a flattery to you/me, but it does have an effect to a new interested person (and really does get to some people who have been here a while). These effects must be mitigated.

I won't fight FUD with FUD

FUD is commonly used against giant successful companies too

FUD can be fought with facts

People will say anything to make themselves look good

What is FUD anyways?

A better understanding of FUD

We're also working on a thin client for Monero that is FOSS so people can use it on phones, etc, but we seem to get no recognition for our accomplishments.
The fact that
we consistently are the most or second most traded crypto on Poloniex.com (I didn't check Bittrex) for weeks,
we receive congratulations from exchange owners on IRC,
we have truly notable people like Pietila or Maxwell being most interested in us,
apart from the usual petty trolls and newbies questions, the signal-to-noise ratio is particularly high (by Bitcointalk standards),
as well as numerous other reasons I would spare you the list,

All of these verifiable facts are worth more than weak unfounded accusations.

Plus, remember that happy people rarely say they are happy - the "negative bias". As well as our community management team (monero-extended account) doing a great job.

It might be best to make a list of all the things the miners team has done so far of upgrading moneros code etc etc, and what they will do. Makes it 10x easier to combat dumb trolls..

That I know of ...

Open source pools for cryptonote coins
Open source Nvidia GPU miner for cryptonight coins
Open source GUI Wallet/miners for cryptonote coins
Open source CPU miner for cryptonote coins
Upcoming open source lightweight wallets (or at least a crowdfund for them), again for cryptonote coins
Possible open source amd miner (if it ever comes to..), for cryptonight coins
For the rest of the OS protocol changes .. take a look at the github commits .. that is the list and it's already there

I have personally contributed to the bounty/funding of two of these, and have pledged to contribute to the lightweight wallets too, and have my pledge of an open bounty for the amd miner already proposed. Not a small amount of these improvements have rested on the backs of the community that supports Monero (though I do think there was some trivial amount of BCN involved in the OS pool bounty).

It's bullshit to see these nerds come by and shit all over the major development like it's nothing, then go and use these tools without even thinking of sending anything back to the developers of the software. Not a thanks, not even a dime. Just a big 'fuck you'. I just don't understand how the thought doesn't even come across their minds .. instead they do junk like shitpost everywhere. The worst part is that it's a major combination of both them and the usual pump and dump shilling.

Such is the internet though. Carry on I guess Smiley

core team is pretty awesome, and I'll continue sending what I can.

Good day to you, fellow members of the community etcetera...

I like a good story, but yours is quite vague for me. What exactly is your point? I am honestly asking because like most of the users here I am browsing the forum to look for new and interesting alt developments in order to make an educated guess in which coin to invest. I didn't express an opinion in this thread before and until now my comments here are impartial. Could you elaborate a bit about what you want to tell us? Thanks

You guys are sensitive because you've been punched in the same spot so many times.  It's good to point out that the archer post is full of falsehood, I guess, since really dumb people might take it seriously, but really it is so far over the top... I LOLed.

I'm sad to hear about the BCN hero puppets.  I hope no one ever does anything similar in support of XMR.  Such folly in this world.

It gets disappointing when you spend most of your free time, unpaid, trying to manage a bunch of the coin's development and people explode this stuff onto your thread.

Everything we put towards bounties could also be used for BCN, like the GUI, the GPU miner, and pools, we contributed most of the optimized slow hash code and were never credited for it. We're also working on a thin client for Monero that is FOSS so people can use it on phones, etc, but we seem to get no recognition for our accomplishments.

The Monero team is doing amazing stuff. Although not enough credit is given, it's ok, the fundamentals of this coin are solid. No need to hype or brag, just continue on building the core.

P.S. are the core Monero team in contact with the CryptoNote guys? Any chance for deeper collaboration or are they just as secretive?

Dont sweat it man, the ones that truly stand behind the coin, know who is doing all the work. It will all payoff in the end. Keep up the good work, and don't let the trolls get to you.

Unfortunately this is the internet, and there are armies of trolls hiding behind computer screens saying garbage..don't bother listening to them....trust me I'm a troll myself  on these forums....

Between abysmal English writing skills and blind fanaticism I doubt it isn’t obvious to anyone what these guys are trying to achieve so hard. All in all, I don’t believe this abjection is worth the $500 those greedy bastards paid me, so here I submit to your court a list of the serfs who were under my submission, trying to impose a genuine interest in a lousy fork under my vigilant eye:

Are you saying I am your sock puppet?  Huh

Did the same pumpers who hired you the first time pay you to write this because they're now dumping?
