Hi guys, I'm not sure if you have decided on a name for the first non beta release yet but I would like to put forth "warptangent", I think it would be a fitting tribute.

Surprisingly no elements begin with the letter 'w'. Could go with tungsten warptangent for the 74th release tho.

I wonder how much the user class ratios have changed since they were first analyzed a year or two ago

Congrats on legendary, brethren  Smiley

Introducing Monero Wallet for Chrome (beta), a new browser extension that connects with simplewallet to send and receive Monero from the browser!

-"Monero has a new Wallet GUI Smiley See comment inside for details!"

Interact with a local Monero Simplewallet via the Chrome or Chromium browser!
  • Monitor your wallet's balance
  • Send and receive XMR
  • Create integrated payment addresses
  • Check incoming payment information
  • Store contacts' addresses and information
  • Make fast payments to Monero URIs found in open browser tabs (you can test this out on the Monero Development Team's donations page or on the donations button on the extension's Settings page!)

Monero Wallet for Chrome can be installed from the Chrome Store or from it's Github repository. This extension is not a full wallet, but rather is an interface to Monero's official command line wallet. As such, it is important to note that this wallet does not store any sensitive information about your wallet (view key, seed, etc), though you can use this wallet to view these pieces of information.

Note: For the extension to work, you need to have an instance of simplewallet running in "RPC Mode" on the same computer as your browser. On installation, a Getting Started dialog will help you set up simplewallet to talk to the extension. In addition to the dialog, I have developed scripts for OS X and Linux to aid in this setup, and plan to add one for Windows soon™. In short, you should launch simplewallet with the following flags in order to use the extension:
Code:
--rpc-bind-ip 127.0.0.1 --rpc-bind-port 18082
You can use this extension with any simplewallet wallet that already exists, or make a brand new one. You just need to "refresh" a new wallet once to make sure it is synced before connecting it to simplewallet.

Please, please, please give feedback if you have any! I've tried to make this as user friendly as possible, but it is still in beta, and does require a small bit of work up front setting up simplewallet. Until all of the functionality of simplewallet can be incorporated into the browser/extension, this wallet will require simplewallet to be run in parallel to the extension. I hope to announce a contest for voting on a set of wallet icons soon. Let me know what you think of the current logo, and if you have an idea for a new logo feel free to start designing one! More to come regarding this in the coming weeks. Finally, a huge thanks to /u/dEBRUYNE_1, /u/gingeropolous, and /u/dnale0r for their help testing the extension. Also a big thanks to /u/smooth_xmr, /u/moneromooo, and many more of the core team and other contributors for their help, advice, and support as I worked toward getting this together.

Crypto is the separation of Power and State.

We have too many people like Brian Armstrong, Mike Hearn, and companies like Elliptic, Chainalisys, and the recent MIT initiative that think Bitcoin is being held back by the anonymity features.

These people are dead wrong and if anyone is going to be responsible for killing Bitcoin it will be this crowd. I personally do not think they will succeed, but governments do not worry me when it comes to Bitcoin. What worries me is Bitcoiners that do not understand the value of “fungibility” and why it’s 100 times more important than transactions per second. The Blockstream/Bitcoin Core team understands this well and as long they are the guardians of the code, I remain optimistic.

This is the guy who only liked one altcoin, Dash, until he found out its "accidental" instamine and radical emission cut are shady as hell.

Tone seems like a great fit for Monero Mountain.  Can we send fluffy out with a bottle of wine and box of chocolates to woo him for Team Mustang?   Cheesy

Anyone using monero-nodejs library please take note and upgrade!

monero-nodejs update v3.2.0:
-Fixed a couple issues that can cause crashes in certain instances. (details: https://github.com/PsychicCat/monero-nodejs/issues/1)

No other changes have been made to the functionality, just stability improvements.

Go Monero!

Guys, is it time to sell off my current Monero (which I bought when it was like $1.50 each) or time to buy more? They've gone real cheap these days.

You can get many opinions over on the Monero Speculation price talk thread but when it comes down to it you still need to make your own decisions.

Hi. Wahr Is the Future plan oft monero. What Is it used for? Whats the different to bitcoin?

Future plans/goals:

https://getmonero.org/design-goals/

It's main purpose is private transactions and possibly private storage of wealth in the future (in my opinion to unstable yet for the latter).

Flippin' burgers since 1163.
It seems Monero is back on Shapeshift:

https://shapeshift.io/#/coins

Yes it's listed but the btc deposit limit is currently too low to actually use.  Well you can buy 1 Monero  Grin   I'm sure it will be fully functional soon.

Fixed. Such a great service, glad to see ShapeShift get back on their feet.

Crypto is the separation of Power and State.
I see xmr is going down very very quickly. What is going on ? Tongue

Probably because Dash got added to Btc-e and pornero not

What a shock!  I had no idea people still use BTC-E.   Shocked

Best trade I've ever made was selling my XPM on BTC-E and using the funds to buy XMR on Kozi's exchange (then later Polo), back when the two coins were at parity.

I advised BTC-E to list XMR, long before Polo blew up thanks to the XMR-ETH wombo combo.  They didn't listen, so Polo ate their lunch.   Tongue

Just FYI, semiweekly = 2x / week. On the other hand, biweekly can be either 2x / week or every other week, but usually means every other week. Perhaps you could use "fortnightly" for an abundance of clarity. Smiley

Moneros, which party holds ViewKey? Only the sender or also the receiver of funds? Or both?

All users have their own viewkey.

So the fund sender can uncover and identify the IP of the receiver by ViewKey?

The viewkey is completely unrelated to any IP address identification.

If you are asking about the sender uncovering the receiver's address, then he already has it (he needs it to send funds in the first place). The receiver, on the other hand, cannot tell the sender's address, only that he received money from somewhere.

But with the ViewKey, can the receiver uncover the sender`s xmr address?

If you have the sender's view key, then you already have their address. If you are asking if having your view key lets you uncover the sender's address, then no.
