I set this pool up as a test...will keep it running a month or two, as its on a free server subscription (google cloud).

http://xmrpool.duckdns.org/

Its running on:
Intel Ivy Bridge Xeon (4 cores)
16GB RAM
50GB SSD

If I recall the pool list on the OP was supposed to be a list of some recommended pools for new users to get started, not a comprehensive guide. Recommended pools meaning those that don't have a high share of the network, have a good reputation, reasonable fees, donate to support the project, etc.

Having a complete list doesn't really help the project or the coin. New users just need a way to get on one reasonable pool if they want to pool mine. Of course if someone wants to maintain a comprehensive pool list that is perfectly okay too, but it isn't necessary.

So, I wouldn't consider a pool not being in the OP as "missing".

Well, based on the #monero-pools topic saying

That also looks like a good recommendation to me.

I would think anyone with a pool would like it listed, or maybe that should be changed?

Why does this matter? I would consider the interests of the project and network to take precedence over those of "anyone with a pool". The list of "missing" pools to which I was replying included one suspected of being a botnet (and also suspected of fake stats), one very large pool, one with suspicious affiliations and one which does not donate anything to support the software (pool software or core software). Why should any of those be listed regardless of what their operators "would like"?

Sorry, just felt like I was making waves with my request, so stated why I was asking.

There was nothing wrong with your request at all, and in fact your pool was added already. I was replying to the comment about "missing" pools, that's all.

I was wondering, does multi-algo solves orphaned block problems?

If you have 1 algo and 5 minutes block, and then switch to 5 algo and 1 minutes block
every algo would still find one block in about 5 minutes. But average block time would decrease to 1 minute.
Does it mean that you can have fast confirmation time and low orphanage rate at the same time, or not?

I think you would still have the same orphan rate as a single algo with one minute block target, because a block from one algo can orphan a block from a different algo, so I don't think multi algo buys you anything in terms of orphan rate. I do like the multi algo philosophy of opening mining up to as many people as possible: ASICs, GPUs, and CPUs; cryptonight kind of tries to do the same thing with a single algo by attempting to level the playing field between ASICs, GPUs, and CPUs rather than giving them their own separate algos to hash on.

Anyone want to buy a fully functioning 4 GPU monero 2.9 KH/s miner?

I didn't think the power bills would be as expensive as they are.

This thing pulls ~1 kW. 4 AMD cards. 2 X 290X, 2 X 390. I think one of the 390's is a 390x and one is a 390.

I can preconfigure it with your addresses so it can be plug and play for you.

Its also configured to run ethminer, in case you want to mine and dump and buy monero.

Includes 4X GPUs, motherboard (Asus maximus formula), CPU (Xeon with the sticker hack), ram (4 GB DDR2), HDD, 2 PSUs (1 X 1000 watts, 1 X 750 watts), frame. Room for 1 more GPU (pci slot, PSU capacity, and frame), PCI risers (I'll include extra riser in case you add 5th GPU). I can configure it to run a monero node and solo mine as well. Its sort of thrown together currently (assembled really fast to try and take advantage of eth spike). I can disassemble and send, or I can try and secure everything and package it all up in one giant box. Will include original GPU boxes for your eventual resale.

A law is going to be voted in the Bulgarian parliament. It prohibit any medical uses of Cannabis. In response to the new law Promena Movement and Liberty 420 are organizing massive protest and satellite events. It'll take place on 24th April 2016 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Any donations will help!

The below Monero node is about to expire Sad.
Last month luigi1111 extended the node. Anyone interested to support the Monero network and do the same for next month?

Support the Monero network by hiring a pre-installed full node for the equivalent of 4$

Recently I switched provider (more expensive, higher specs for simultaneously running a Bitcoin node) and I was wondering what to do with my current Monero node. It hurts a bit to just let it go, especially because it just runs great and is cheap. It is hosted at MikroVPS.eu for 4$ per month and they accept bitcoin (and so Monero through XMR.to).

So I was thinking there may be more users like me (I struggled hard but had great help from the community), who would like to support the Monero network but are not that much experienced configuring a Linux server. Therefore I would like to check if there is any interest in extending a fully hosted Monero node:

You can pay the equivalent of 4$ in Monero or Bitcoin, and the node will run for another whole month. You can check whether it is online here (just zoom in a little bit) since it is the only node running in the area.

Specs of the node, still valid till 2016-03-212016.04.20
- 25 GB harddisk
- 512 MB RAM
- 250 GB bandwidth
- Ubuntu Linux 15.10 x64
- IP: 185.112.158.127

The Monero node is running from Hungaria, Budapest and is nicely filling up a gap on the map of Europe:

Some statistics of the last few weeks:

Bitcoin address: 1B3cZEg1oGnXpgjhkTJGpP9G4LNPWTXk1D

Which exchange are you basing $4 US worth of BTC from? Post back and I'll send that exhange's $4 US in BTC to 1B3cZEg1oGnXpgjhkTJGpP9G4LNPWTXk1D

How big is the XMR blockchain?
10 GB on Windows.

Perf branch is ~6.6GB. I think master branch is 9GB or so. 10 seems high.

In the future the blockchain will be encoded in DNA and downloaded to users by sneezing.

I figured it would be by procreation as to assure the chains validity for future generations. Cheesy
