There was a pro-skateboarder in the 80's named Natas Kaupas, and even though it was widely printed that he was Lithuanian and his name was the masculine spelling of Natasha "birth of God, Christmas," many skate enthusiasts (teenagers) perpetuated the belief that he was a satanist or a warlock and even that he had sold his soul to get his skateboarding skills--he was so fed up with explaining it for years on end that he released a Satan inspired board to simultaneously capitalize-on and mock those who refused to believe it was just the name his non-Satan parents gave him.  



This kind of idiotic "fact" inventing happens even when the person explains every last part of it, so it isn't surprising what happens when most or all of the details are missing. Just think turtles all the way down and you get the imaginations wonky sense of humor.

This is exactly the kind of fortune telling bullshit I'm talking about. Sabelnikov is by all accounts a real person. So the fact that his initials reorder to NSA means what exactly? His mother (who presumably named him) was an NSA spy? Operating under NSA mind control in choosing a name?

1.1 My source material is rethink-your-strategy's (RYS) post.

1.2.RYS incorrectly states there are no known entities connected to BCN. He contradicts himself by mentioning Andrey N Sabelnikov

1.3 In RYS's post a compelling connection is drawn between Sabelnikov and BCN. The Russian author of the epee lib is almost certainly a BCN dev (the coincidence is too great). This is widely accepted.




2.1 The set of people involved in BCN's creation is undoubtedly small.

2.2 The set of people involved in Cryptonote's creation is undoubtedly small.

2.3 A Russian involved with the tiny BCN set has a name which translates into the only (fake) name we have to associate with CN. The first word in his surname (sabel) translates (in Dutch) to the fake Dutch name created for CN (saber). The second part of his surname ("niko") is short for Nicolas. Additionally each surname has 4 sylabbles and the names' initials can both be re-worked to spell NSA.

2.4. The chance of such a profound name collision to occur within two tiny sets is minute. This is beyond coincidence.

2.5 Sabelnikov is Saberhagen.





3.1 The above is conjecture and cannot be proven, just like everything RYS posits. However to my mind it is even more compelling. It is elegant, witty and poetic. And quite possibly/almost certainly true.

3.2 Sabelnikov has both the motive and means to create/help create cryptonote (inc presumed botnet skills discovered in Jan 2012).

Does static build work on Windows? I'm able to compile the binaries using the instructions on github for Windows64, however, if I try to build static binaries I get:


'make release-static' is the command suggested on the github page, but it's not in my list of targets in Makefile:


Am I missing something on the cmake command? Github instructions just out of date?

Putting the socks to one side, I believe a very strong case has been made (surely the coincidence is too great) for Sabelnikov being van Saberhagen.

I wonder when the brand is shifted from being a Bitcoin Castle to a Monero Castle.

I suggest some people send them emails asking them to accept XMR for clean BTC. Seems like a logical combination.

The meeting point is a bit too far off. Why don't you set up a meeting in central Europe, e.g., near the coast in Danemark (off-season prices for fully equipped holiday houses are quite good) ;-)

The weekend of 27-30 August is available in Malla for a Monero meetup. I'd like to organize the event if minimum 10 people enroll.

Price for a 4-day event or any part thereof, including airport transfer from Tallinn, the conference and all meals, would be 300 EUR.
