Hi all,

I just launched a new pool dedicated to CryptoNotes at noteminer.com. The Monero pool is the only one functioning so far, but I'd love for you guys to check it out and leave me some feedback on design.

I have scripts in place to ensure the wallet/daemon do not de-sync with the pool - which means we should have NO downtime due to backend issues.

Here's a little preview:

I look forward to hearing from you all Smiley

No more fees. Replace DevFee address with MinerProxy, and add fee to your balance.

Instructions

- Enter proxy port, ex. 5555
- Enter pool address and port without stratum+tcp:// or http:// (ex. xmr1.crypto-pool.fr:3333)
- Enter Your Coin Addresses where DevFee coins will be payed out, (may be the same address where you mine or different, doesn't matter)
- Point your miner to MinerProxy
(ex. -o stratum+tcp://127.0.0.1:5555, if proxy is installed on localhost)
- Other miners also work with this proxy, so You can easily change pool for all Your rigs.
- For failover, start more proxy instances with different ports, and put those addresses to pool.txt

If You like it donate some XMR to the author of the software...

Seems too good to be true lol... And bit dodgy... anyone tried it with success ?
Works great! Easy to set up.
can you tell me how it works?I make .bat file like this: NsGpuCNMiner -o stratum+tcp://127.0.0.1:5555 -u wallet adress -p x
and i still see dev getting share on the miner
what should i write to dev fee xmr on the program?
If you entered your address in the field DevFee, than devfee goes to your xmr address Smiley
I'm testing it with other than main mining address...
so far NO shares on other adress...
will report back in 15 min
ALREADY GOT THE FIRST SHARE ON OTHER ADRESS
looks like it's legit Cheesy
miner works but i dont see any share on the pool
edit:it works now but it looks like sometimes miner forwarded to another private pool
miner or proxy forwarded to another private pool?
seems like my miner sometimes fails to send shares(without proxy)

Tested working on Extremehash.com XMR pool. There's no pool fee too, 100% FREE!

I would encourage pool operators to use a mixin different from zero (at least sometimes) for the withdrawals.
Ideally the mixin value would follow a particular random distribution (not uniform) between 0 and 5, and that distribution would not be made public.

Is anyone using or has used the Amazon AWS free trial (or any other VPS free trial except Microsoft Azure) to mine Monero?
I'm a complete newbie regarding all the technical stuff so I already had lots of trouble setting up the blockchain/wallet yesterday after buying my first XMR.
So if you have used it could you please help me with a short step by step tutorial on which instance to choose on AWS, how to point the miner to a pool etc.
Thanks! Smiley
If you never did, it's really long and complex to explain.
I really have to do a tutorial thread about it.
Yeah that's what I thought already, I tried reading/searching the forum and google but couldn't find any good information and I also dont have the time to read hundreds of pages in the Monero threads and even then I probably wouldn't have worked it out.
If you decide to make a tutorial thread please let me know via PM Smiley

I just made a small tutorial to install and use Monero on Linux

[ANN][XMR][HOW TO] Install & use Monero on Linux

I didn't make the Amazon instance tutorial yet. I'll do it later.

I don't know if this counts as an advertisement or an announcement, but http://kippo.eu has lowered fees to 1% and 0.1% goes to core devs. Also, software updated to newest version as usual.  Smiley

I posted here calculating that Monero mining is 3x as good with GPU than popular X11/Scrypt coins ---

Not to mention CPU mining!

Thoughts?

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/newsflash-moneroxmr-gpu-mining-gets-3x-times-more-profit-than-scryptx11-675218

This is a huge gap! The only reason I see is that it is a comlpetely new setup, and requires some efforts for people that have been mining clones of clones of clones since many months. All things that can be overcome reasonably quickly anyway. Enourmous set of potential miners just outside the door...

Came to see what people were saying about mining (software). All I see here are posts about pools... Maybe I misunderstood the OP/title.

People talk about pool here because some pool didn't create a separate thread.

For the software you can go here : (sorry for the copy paste but it has all the links you need).

MINE WITH CPU

Check the Wolf's CPUMiner thread for the latest updates and ask specific questions about the CPU miner.
Download and extract the miner files somewhere. I recommend having all the monero files in the same folder.
Create a batch file or a command line to use in command prompt.

MINE WITH GPU

Check the Claymore GPU Miner thread for the latest updates and ask specific questions about the ATI GPU miner.
Check the tsiv ccminer-cryptonight GIT for the latest release of the NVIDIA miner. The general ccMiner thread for questions is here.
Download and extract the miner files somewhere. I recommend having all the monero files in the same folder.
Create a batch file or a command line to use in command prompt.

OPEN SOURCE GPU MINER (in dev)

If you have any questions, don't hesitate.

You also have IRC #monero where people answer your questions any time.

+1
The constant adverstising/bumping (advertising != important announcements) of pools is extremely annoying. It's the same even in the main monero thread. If you have a suggestion to make them behave, let us know.
