As with any pump and dump, their play is to sooner or later trade out of the 150+ billion (80%+) premined coins. Trying to make a big enough pump to do that in todays market would be difficult if not impossible. The market won't even support selling 1k-2k USD per day. So the most sensible strategy is to keep it somewhere viable in the rankings at minimal cost, wait, and hope for a better chance to exit.

Their only hope of cashing out is a massive crypto bubble where every shitcoin in the Top 50 is getting millions thrown at it by panicked investors who aren't taking the time to research each one.

When you have 80% of the coins it doesn't take a massive crypto bubble like that to cash out 10 million USD or more. BCN market cap peaked at about 12 million USD, and that wasn't in during a massive crypto bubble, at least not the peak of one, it was well into the 2014 decline.

BCN has a better chance to pump out than some crappy #40-50 coin. It has interesting technology, pretty web sites, a backstory, and a somewhat professional and experienced crew of scammers running it.

Bytecoin has slipped ahead of Monero on coinmarketcap.com again. Sad

You do understand that the real market cap is very close to zero right?

Well over 80% premine plus an almost infinite supply gives it a market cap at 1 million when if only sells at the lowest possible price that's possible on an btc-exchange. 1 satoshi.

They could easily trade it up to multiple million $ in market cap with only a few thousand dollars.

It definitely sounds like something that they would do. Why haven't they? Smiley

Notice how the other clone coins run by the same outfit have been abandoned (FCN, QCN, MCN, etc.). That's because they didn't have the same magnitude of premine (though they all had a month or two of likely instamine given their un-deoptimized miners), so not enough incentive to keep them going.

There are no known people who own bytecoin, except the ones in the team. In this kind of setting, you can choose the price.

either 1) price of bitcoin influences how much it costs to buy into the market (i.e., 200$ bitcoin means 25 cent monero, whereas 150$ bitcoin means 18 cent monero, if monero doesn't hold its own - which I've only seen it do once). So lower bitcoin price, you can buy more monero.

or 2) might buy bitcoin instead of monero if goes low enough.

edited - sorry, I thought the above post was in reference to the post above that.

What effect will a spike in the BTC price have on Monero?

care to elaborate what your investing strategy was?

Don't bother. Look at the post history. It is just an account being mined up to non-newbie rank so it can be sold.

EDIT: On second look I don't think this is quite true. He's posted about Monero a few times before, so probably just someone with an odd posting style that resembles a rank miner.

Thanks for your responses. We don't have so much time to read forum. We open it 1 or 2 times in a month. Our donation system is stopped now. Thanks for all your donations.

1 XMR invested in the Hypothecary Bank long bond (guaranteed by the Town and His Majesty The King) in CryptoKingdom, is returning 2.5 XMR in January-2016.
Sorry didnt read all. But: how is this possible?

Can this game ever be a danger to Monero?

i would also be interested in how this works? is there a upper limit? we do not want you to pay with your own money or get into troubles with that Kiss

edit: is there a place where we can talk about the game without roleplaying? ask questions and everything..i do not feel like the Ck game thread is the right place for that..

I think that the 'guaranteed by the Town and His Majesty The King' means that you must actually participate a bit in the game and help it if you want your investment to be  more secure...

It never hurts to be friendly with the guy holding your money.

- It is possible by people borrowing the money to invest in ingame assets that pay back even better.
- If it's a danger to monero, it's very bad planning: CK was born in a MEW workshop where only executives were present, as a direct response to the need of marketing of XMR
- The upper limit of bonds is very low atm, only 2,500 XMR in total were offered last time.
- Yeah, CK thread is open for questions, but closed for questioning. Some don't know the difference.
- The guarantee by the two wealthiest characters of the game does not infer that you must play the game. It just means that it is practically impossible for the game to continue without the loan to be paid back as agreed. If you lend money to any 1 character, he can go bankrupt and you don't receive back in full, and everything else will continue.
- In other words, "the public" sees that the probability that the game still exists after a year is 40% (1/2.5). In the last time these were offered, it was 25%, so we are making progress Smiley

I fail to see how this could possibly be a danger to Monero even if there was a default on the bonds. The reason is actually very simple Monero is proof of work.

The bond pays out in moneritos, the in-game currency, so keep that in mind.

There is currently no direct way to go from moneritos->XMR. The game does not have plans to implement this either. However, there are rumors of CKG being added to a certain exchange sometime in the future.

Therefore, it is reasonable to expect one could buy CKG in-game, then sell for XMR on the exchange.

Even if I do not play the game? I am not and never will be a gamer in any way shape or form but will invest in such ventures because I know that half of the planet are gamers.

Playing is not required. (Well the bond can only be owned by characters in the game, since it is an ingame item, but "playing" just for the owning of the bond is allowed, does not take time, and probably qualifies to all sorts of giveaways on the side Smiley )

So we can be sure of 1 XMR beeing 1 XMR in 2016, since it is not a staking coin, and that's it.

Or 1.08243216 XMR, if you subscribe to the development bond proposed in the main thread;  1.48594739598 XMR in 2020.
