25ph for 24 hours or 100ph for 6 hours

It makes no difference.

It is a gamble, we hit som blocks and I pay off all the user, but yes, we find not so often a block.
All it is, is t is luck!

Would it make any difference instead of buying 25ph for 24 hours, buy 100ph for 6 hours or 120ph for 4 hours (or something like that). ?     I noticed that when I run 80ph for a short time i get 4,255 miners running vs. 20ph when I get about 1910 miners.  I tried 100ph for 1 hour and found 5,450 miners running.   Didn't have success but noticed getting into the trillions faster.   Does it help having significantly more miners running alltogether or does that not matter?

With this payment, Nice Hash pool will give you this power for a few days at today's price
Now, according to the calculator book, with this power, at least 61 days of blocks can be obtained.
How many days did you manage to gain power with this money?
I think it will be 30 days, right? If I am right, your chances are 50/50 and this is relatively good.
In your first sentence you (correctly) state that they can buy a few days worth and in your last sentence you state 30 days, does not compute  Wink

So I don't know how you got 30 days but the group run uses about 0,18 btc and with that you can buy approximately 1 day and 17 hours (~1.7 days) worth of 25PH so the odds are something like 2.8% of hitting a block (1,7 / 61 * 100) or very roughly 1 in 36.

By the way, easier way to roughly 'calculate' this is to just divide the block reward (6.25) by the used amount (0.18) to buy hashpower: 6.25/0.18=34.7 The odds in reality are a little worse because of Nicehash fees and the fact that hashpower is more expensive there.

I have two Apollos mining right now on this pool. I intend to keep them here for long time.

Solochance says:

Code:
Chance per block: 1 in 42,390,416

Chance per day: 1 in 294,378

Time estimate: 807 years

Hashrate (1hr average): 4.82T

(Chance calculation based off 1hr average hashrate.)

Hello, I am hoping this is okay. I am a newbie. You seem nice and knowledgeable. I liked the education on statistics and the joke made things even more clear. I guess my question is simply:

How do I start mining BTC on this solo pool with my GPU rigs which are currently mining on Hive OS?

(Note: I was unable to figure out how to start a new post here, so I replied to your post. I apologize if this was inappropriate.)

Best blessing to you, and all readers. Again everyone, I apologize if this is inappropriate or breaking community rules. Please do not kick me out.
God bless you all.

you can indirectly mine on ck solo pool

use your gpu rigs to mine eth on the rental service nicehash.

I use 1gh of gpu rigs to mine eth on nicehash.

nicehash auto verts my earnings to btc

I rent 100 th endlessly with those earnings to mine on ck’s pool

not his solo polo but the pool he created for minefarmbuy

As many others have mentioned in this forum you really need an ASIC miner to mine BTC.

Mining with a GPU will most likely only drive up your electric bill without yeliding any real potential to solve/find a block.

Look into GekkoScience's Compac F with a solid USB hub or Futurebit's Apollo BTC miner if you are looking for an at home or entry level miner.

If you have cheap power and noise / heat isn't a concern then there are several additional ASIC miner options that would be more energy efficient per TH.

Please don't. Only ASIC miners are welcome here, and learning to mine with GPU rigs has nothing in common with modern ASIC mining so you will not learn anything useful from it; only how to mine shitcoins.

Actually you are mistaken, the second formula you have given is the probability of rolling two sixes simultaneously with TWO dice, not rolling a 6 consecutively.

It's tricky to use probabilities in normal language because there are many possible ways to interpret what a person means.

Let's make it crystal clear continuing the dice analogy:

The probability of rolling a 6 with a dice is 1/6.

The probability of rolling two 6 in a row with one dice, which is the same as rolling two 6 with two dices, is 1/6 * 1/6 (independent events), which is 1/36.

Now, the probability of rolling a second 6 given that the previous roll was a 6, is still 1/6. In the end you still see two 6 rolled in a row, but the probability will be only 1/6 because the other event already happened or has a known outcome. This is different to the scenario where you still don't know the outcome of the two rolls, in which case the probability of it happening is 1/36.

This concept has even been used as a joke:

A famous statistician would never travel by airplane, because he had studied air travel and estimated the probability of there being a bomb on any given flight was 1 in a million, and he was not prepared to accept these odds.
One day a colleague met him at a conference far from home. "How did you get here, by train?"
"No, I flew"
"What about your the possibiltiy of a bomb?"
Well, I began thinking that if the odds of one bomb are 1:million, then the odds of TWO bombs are (1/1,000,000) x (1/1,000,000). This is a very, very small probability, which I can accept. So, now I bring my own bomb along!"
Yay, someone posting about statistics who seems to know what they are talking about.
Strange how rare that is around here.
Love the joke Smiley

Ahaha it would be a hell of luck.

As far as my math is correct, I have roughly 500,000 more chances of winning some prize at the yearly national lottery, than finding a mainnet block with 1.6GH/s.

You gotta play to win!

Hi everyone.

Don't laugh at me, but I had this 1.6G block erupter that I used to mine testnet blocks back in the years, sitting in the dust for a while now, and I'd like to try some luck

Now, I know there are basically 0 chances to hit a block, but life can be *very* weird so... why not.

The point is I have a 404 on /users/ so my question is: is the small toy hashing something properly at the moment?

TY =)
