Why could we not combine all of our hashing power to get  better odds of solving a block. Then pay out the actual specific miners hardware who solved the block. We will solve more blocks this way as a group?  Is this basically what CK pool does right? Do we all mine as one miner on CK pool.... basically ? sorry still learning . This might be a dumb question

What you're proposing is basically a normal pool. You can of course connect to one of them, there are plenty. But this one is different.

In normal pools everyone contributes their hashrates as a group, and it doesn't matter who finds the block, the reward is divided proportional to the hashrate you provided. That way you get a constant payout every day/week/month, but the payout is much smaller. There are other variations of how the reward is divided in some pools but the main idea is the same.

Now, in solo ck pool you get paid zero until you hit a block(which might never happen), in which case you get the reward plus transactions fees, minus a pool fee. The chances of finding a block solo are really small though, but the payout is much higher. Plus, it's something unique to mine your own block.

Of course everyone has different preferences, and you can try many pools for as much as you want and keep changing until you settle in whatever you want. You can even rent your hash rate in nicehash so that other people can find blocks with your miner and you get a constant payout. Some people in this forum rent a lot of hash rate from there and have found many blocks, using ck solo pool.

I think i am after a hybrid solo pool. Somewhere in between a regular pool and CK. We all hash together with massive potential thus increasing our odds but like CK pool the only one who gets the reward is the exact persons whom hardware solves the block.

With 20 PH

Someone from this hypothetical pool could get the block reward without a doubt each 71 days or sooner right?
none the less this is an idea i want to explore and attempt to implement with advise from members here

Does a pool exist with a function mentioned in my last post. A pool that we all mine together as one miner . No matter the hardware your using . Basically like CK pool but our hashing power is combined and if we get a block then the specific miners hardware gets the entire 6.25 BTC. Say this “Combined Solo Pool” is hashing away at 20 PH and we get a block. I am hashing at 6 gh and just so happened my ASIC chip was the specific one that solved the block. I would get the reward. Even with 6 GH. Does anything like this exist? Seems we would solve more blocks as one combined miner but reward the specific hardware that actually solved the block.

I am looking for a mission. Something to build in this bitcoin community to contribute to my families legacy as a second generation new bitcoin miner.  If nothing like this exists . Could I modify CK pool source to accommodate the functions I am trying to go after?  I am hungry to contribute. I am not lazy and will work hard for whatever goal that is set before me. I learn fast and am motivate beyond monetary means. Something in deep in my core needs to do something here. Cannot explain it.

Would you give me some pointers and possibly some tips to get started in modding CK pool to do this? I would leave the  fee tribute in the code that would go back to supporting the original development of CK pool source code.

My journey is just getting started in the Bitcoin community. Ready to hit the ground running. My father mentioned you many time in his notes Kolivas. He seemed to trust your work. I trust your mentorship and that you would lead me down the right path. I wont require to much of your time just some pointers and tips to achieve my goals to bring the functions mentioned to this  “Combined Solo Pool” idea using CK pool source code as a base.

In CKPOOL in "bestshare" indicates me this: 51722935881.8227,
"bestever": 290965521514,

I have seen that to confirm the block you need about 14 numbers and my best share has been 12 numbers, is this correct?

And another doubt, the Asic sends continuously actions but it learns with time or it has some reference data to send these actions?

From what I understand, it is always sending Sahres but not all are accepted, to find the block it must send one that meets the difficulty of the network and in that case it will be accepted, right?

In short, this data can be used to know if the miner is doing well or is it really only possible to find the block or not to find it?

To find a block, you need to send one share that is higher than the current difficulty.

In your case, here's your best share vs the current difficulty:

Code:
00,051,722,935,881
vs
29,794,407,589,312

This process is based on probability, so the more shares you send, the more probabilities you'll have to get one higher than the current difficulty. But you only need one to find a block.

A common metric to see how well your miner is running is to see the hashrate. You send to the pool only hashes that are at least a bit high, you don't send them all the time. This is set either by the pool, or the miner so that you get a nice stream of shares, not too often, and not too far apart.

What is Bestshare really?
Why does 4 numbers appear after the dot?

Within the Asic diffA and diffR appear, why does it not match the CKPOOL data?
I'm trying to understand this but I can't find the information I need to fully understand it... Please someone explain it to me in the best possible way.
I use a translator, I am Spanish.
Bestshare is the value of the highest share you found since the last block was found by someone on this pool. Bestever is the value of the highest share you found ever and never resets. Assuming you are using an antminer then the bestever of CKpool should be equal to the bestshare in the summary of the antminer miner status. As to the 4 numbers behind the dot: share values are not integers but floating point numbers* and can be rounded down any way you want. CKpool rounds it down to 4 numbers behind the dot and antminer rounds it to whole numbers.

DiffA is the value of the last share Accepted by the pool and DiffR is the value of the last share rejected by the pool and both continually change up and down. CKpool does not show that information. What you are looking for, again assuming an antminer, is the accepted stat under pools. That should correspond to the shares stat on CKpool.

Thank you very much for the explanation, very well explained.

.are we not working towards the original goal of bitcoin? That anyone could support the network? Anyone could be rewarded for that effort. This is so cool.  So many bitcoin  philosophical questions are spiraling in my head.

Looking at the overall picture the answer would be yes, we are helping each other and everyone else who believes in Bitcoin, it doesn't matter how you look at it, every hash straightens the ecosystem as a whole.

On the other hand, as far as the solo pool goes, unlike the normal pooled mining, only the person who hits the blocks get the reward, but then the pool gets its fees and thus can be financially self-sustained, so, ya, the more blocks person A finds, the more chances that the pool will be there for person B to use.

And then beyond all that, the fun and the joy of playing this solo game is beyond imagination, everyone here has a story and a dream, and hitting a block on a solo pool can be life-changing, it can also become an addiction, similar to gambling (with worse odds), I just hope that people maintain a good risk/reward ratio when dealing with a solo pool, don't go all in -- but don't stay completely out of it.

Had to reboot by system. started CGminer again but not accepting shares anymore. Is it a time thing? I have to wait x amount of hours before the solo pool will give me work? All i see now is "Stratum from pool 0 detected new block" .

What device are you using for mining?, note that you need an ASIC, otherwise it will take days or months to even register in the pool.

Are you getting rejected shares or not sending any shares at all? If you have a small ASIC like the Compac F USB miner for example, try adding --suggest-diff 442 to the command line. That should make it send more, smaller shares.

Based on your previous comments, it looks like you're using an older miner. Make sure that you're setting --suggest-diff 5 as it seems that's how you were running it before.

Also, you could try reading more information about your miner to see what's going on. While cgminer is running, press the letter u, then s, then 0(zero) on your keyboard. That should list all the information about the first USB device you have connected there.
Thank you for your suggestions . I am loving learning more each day. Things are fine now. Seems it fixed itself   Cheesy accepting  shares just fine now . https://solo.ckpool.org/users/1CQHvHRYVMcRrLqSeYhZEGPrDSsTaxDyib Want to take a minute to thank everyone who is on this solo pool. We are in a way helping each other right? That is what it is all about right? By partaking in this solo effort ..are we not working towards the original goal of bitcoin? That anyone could support the network? Anyone could be rewarded for that effort. This is so cool.  So many bitcoin  philosophical questions are spiraling in my head.

That is so cool. So i am mining on a antique?  Cheesy  . I did some research on it . It is so outdated... with strange ties to a crazy time in bitcoin history from my research. I could never sell it. My dad would geek out knowing it is mining today. If somehow i mine a block with it. Would be beyond words.

There is nothing wrong with trying to learn how mining works, but given the fact that your father mined bitcoin before 2016, there is a good chance that he has got some sort of a wallet in there, that would be a lot more rewarding than using his old gear which now is 'sadly' very slow and outdated.

The encouraging news is that your father's gear at that time must have mined some good amount of BTC that was worth very little at that time, so don't give up looking, before digging try to make copies of all the hard drives he has, DO NOT expose them to the internet and do not share any of files with anyone.

At some point, you might have to give out some information in regards to what kind of files you found in order to get help on how to try and extract any PKs in there, but don't rush, learn first so that you won't end up giving a wallet seed or anything that would result in losing your BTC.

Search for a wallet.dat file, bitcoin core, and anything related to Bitcoin wallets, here is a good read

Unfortunately, the discussion regards any funds and wallets won't fit here and would be removed by admins, so keep the mining-related stuff here, and the wallet stuff needs to go to a new topic in Bitcoin Technical Support

Good luck.

Thank you very much for your help and you kind words. No storage devices are in the box. The box size is around 8 inches by 12. Not all my fathers crypto stuff. He had rooms full .Not much  survived after many moves and a not so easy life after dads passing. Sure there is a lost fortune somewhere from his early days. Nothing like a wallet.dat or even seed phrases are here from my searching. I have sticky notes a torn pieces of paper.  Ckolivas name is mentioned twice first is this “look Ckolivas 7/4/11 Nividia” written in pencil on stripped paper. Second is written in orange ink plain printer paper “Ckolivas 11/24/14 Add Voltage”.

Most of his writing look like notations or reminders. His Bitcoin activity could be from the first years  of bitcoin from what I have gathered. Another notations was “AppData/Roam/Bitcoin” and the words “New .conf” on the bottom. I knew that was a reference to %appdata%  but no hardware or storage device is in the box. Unless you can store things in the butterfly labs miner or an old graphics card 7970. Does not seem hopeful of finding lost bitcon here. I have made piece with that. That is not the real treasure I am after anyways. Connection and a great purposes is what I seek. To be apart of something greater than myself. Think that is everyone's goal right. Wondering how many other people out there are second generation bitcoin miners ? Guess i cannot call myself a bitcoin miner tell i mine my first bitcoin block?

Never been more happy than the last two weeks. This lifestyle if consuming. Never been happier in my life. Feeling closer to my dad each day. I see bitcoin is in my blood. Now that I am understanding this world a little. My mind is flooded with ideas. I have learned that bitcoin can only be minded by huge farms now. Dad would have hated that. Looks like Ck pool is doing something to level the playing field right? If I somehow solo mine a bitcoin block on Ck pool. I want to get some bigger hardware to help support the solo pool.  Ckolivas concept of solo pool seems to be the only way to bring balance back to bitcoin? To give anyone a chance to power the block-chain and be rewarded? I would love to even help smaller miners gain better odds of solving blocks for themselves one day.

Oh WOW. I got merit. Smiley Thank you Thank you  Grin researching merit now.

Hello .

In my fathers box was a Butterfly Labs' Jalapeno. Took me a while to just identify what kinda of machine it was. Ckolivas was mentioned many many times in my fathers notes. I do not understand what most mean but finally arrived here. Was not very hard to get Cgminer going. I have some knowledge of Linux.

I Finally got an accepted share. YAY !! Grin Cheesy

Not sure if I am doing this right? Long story short my father passed away in 2016. My mother saved my fathers “crypto stuff” in a box. She decided not to give it to me tell she felt I was ready. I knew about bitcoin but not much more  than what my classmates talked about. This past week has been crazy. Trying to learn a lot in a short time. My father lived and breathed bitcoin for most his adult life.

I remember as a kid seeing him on his computer and this forum all the time. I remember him practically covered in wires with these loud machines around him. His office was always so warm in  the winter and unbearable to be in during the summer. So much of my father is still a mystery to me. This box of notes and gadgets is pretty much all I have left of him.

My mother told me a fortune might be hidden in this box or nothing at all.  He was a great dad! He would have loved to see what Bitcoin has become. I think he knew it would arrive at this point. He would have dedicated his entire life to it. His journey was cut short .

Not here to make people sad with my story. Hoping this sad story turns to something amazing. My father was eccentric to say the least. He used to tell my mother... Bitcoin would be the future. Looks like he was not wrong. Even if there is not a fortune here. This stuff is still my treasure. It is all I have of my father. If you have some information to help me get started here. Please let me know. He used to call me his little “kit kat”.That is how I arrived at my screen name  I want to do my best to know him better by getting better  familiar  with Bitcoin and this community he loved so much. Not sure his screen name here. If someone remembers a prominent member of this community that suddenly left around 2016 please let me know the screen name. Would love to find his old posts. Would mean more than anything to me. Hoping my father is watching over me and seeing me mine my first bitcoin shares with his old hardware.  Any advice anyone has please let me know. Looking dive into the Bitcoin world and continue down my fathers Bitcoin path.
